Photographer: “Can you do a serious face?” — Me: “Probably not, I think I’d just look constipated, I’ll give it a go” — Photographer: “You were right, let’s try again” 🤣🙈 — Here’s to a new and exciting partnership with the number one protein brand in the world - Optimum Nutrition! 🙌 — As you all know, working with brands is a big part of making my challenges possible. It just so happens that it’s extra fun to work with some truly amazing businesses and the people attached to those businesses. — #RUNBALI is made possible by the support from @optimumnutrition_uk @kineon_labs @realmealuk + @bremontwatches Running may appear a solo endeavour, but I can assure you it’s not. Big thank you’s go to the kind and brilliant people behind the fancy logos and products of these brands, along with my ever patient team. I’ll be fuelling #RUNBALI with optimum nutrition every step of the way. Protein, run, protein, run, repeat, repeat, repeat, until the miles are done. I’ll use Kineon’s MOVE+ to keep my knees, ankles and shoulders free of soreness (thank you science and the wonders of red light therapy), I’ll use the 615 cal bars from Real Meal as breakfast and lunch in an attempt to try and keep some weight on, and i’ll show off my bling watch from Bremont as I run. — Running around Bali is going to be so fun - let’s see what this mission has in store for me… — Remember - all my missions for now and always are in aide of raising awareness and funds for @196foundation I am asking you, yes YOU, to please become a donor. It’s £1.96 per month and it’s 100% non-profit. All the funds go to the causes that we support. Who does the foundation support I hear you ask?… well, anything anywhere; Once per year every donors is invited to vote on the cause/project\person we should support. In fact voting for 2023 is open right not. If you can afford £1.96 per month, please sign up. Small donations will lead to big change around the world. Thank you — Here’s to Bali. Another flight path taking me from one day to the next mid air, and my 9th time passing through Istanbul airport in as many weeks. FYI - my favourite airport is the new massive Istanbul hub. Worth a visit just for the airport, although I’m a little obsessed with airports now. — I landed early at 02:00am. The airport gives you a hint of what the country will be like. Garish to say the least. The airport was large and empty; later in the day I discovered this was just a microcosm of the city itself. — After a few hours sleep and an awful meal at the ‘5 Star’ hotel (this was self rated with big stars plastered on the wall outside), it was in fact 2 stars at best. The door to my room unlockable, the shower curtain mouldy, the food was vile, and the staff were as useful as a chocolate teapot. Oh and did i mention the bugs, the broken TV, the water supply that was slightly brown and the lift that was broken.- I’ll stop ranting now. — Lunch and Dinner I spent my time with Kumush and Kerim. These two treated me so well. They had been in touch with my team back home to help support my 48 hour experience in the capital. I ate in one of the many marble buildings - a small shorditchesque cafe come restaurant. I ate streak for lunch and dinner. — I’ve been sleeping badly lately, my body clock is all skewed thanks to running at midnight, 18:00pm and generally not adjusting quick enough. Once again the weather is controlling me more than i would like. The weather however wasn’t an issue here. For the first time in months it was only 20 degrees in the early morning and so we are set to run at 05:50am tomorrow, hopefully with some runners too. — VOTE VOTE VOTE — Of the 50,000 nominations i am very fortunate to be shortlisted in the final 3 with a chance to win the coveted Endurance Fundraiser of the year. Exciting News 😁🎉🗞️- BOOK LAUNCH! 📕📖📚 — Run Britain is now available for pre order on Amazon. The link is in my bio and here 👇 — https://amzn.eu/d/0TlFXwA — This journey, and indeed this book was one hell of a mission. Having successfully run the entire length of Italy, zigzagging the 2620 miles, and completing a marathon distance every day, for 100 days … I thought it would be a good idea to go bigger. Let’s do 2 marathons a day for 4 months, that sounds like a great idea. What was i thinking!!! — There were times when my body, mind, heart, and bones were literally at breaking point and in some cases, well past it… but, as you read the book, my hope is you’ll see that from way beyond the comfort zone, births new realms of life previous unknown. — Raising funding for my charity @196foundation, meeting new people, and of course the wonders of every beach in Britain was an unfathomable privilege; it is however the bits around the edges, the effort the team went to, the kindness of others, and the beast that is Mother Nature, that really engrained this journey into my heart. — Throughout this book you’ll read excerpts from Andy’s diary too. Andy was my right hand man on this mission, and more than anyone he felt every step of this journey with me. Scattered amongst the pages are photos, stats, maps, my philosophy of life, some poetic bits, Andy’s diary entires, and of course the whole journey - warts and all. — Can i please ask you share this with as many friends and family as you can. It’s been a labour of love (and hate), to get this out. I’d love this book to rise up the best seller list and be read by more and more. — Finally - THANK YOU… thank you to all who shared footsteps with me, who donated, and who sent me lovely messages. Writing this book was like reliving every day. Without fail all moments were coupled with selflessness and kindness. — Did you run with me? Update: (Post 2 of 2) Continued from last post. — 196 Foundation: Thanks once again to all who have voted ‘Project Chori’ as the donor voted project of the year. I’m in discussions with the rest of the team to announce the delivery of this project soon. If you aren’t aware - my charity www.the196foundation.com is helping causes world wide with your help. Please share and Donate. — Races / Events: In 2023 I’ll be completing 3 new records, 2 big race events, and importantly launching Run Britain and 2024’s mission. I’m even off to the Middle East to run an @impactmarathon event at the end of this year with my good friend Nick. — Coaching: I’ve taken a step forwards with my coaching as per my recent post. I have some exceptional clients and brilliant personalities I’m working with. If you’re keen to have some running coaching, let me know. Just drop me a WhatsApp, email, or DM and we can have a quick chat. [email protected] — Run Weekends: Together with brilliant mates, I’m launching a little business called Run Weekends. Put simply, and as the name suggests, i am to host a number of running retreats around the world spanning between 2 and 5 days with a focus not on racing, speed or PBs, but more about the outdoors, running for the love of running, and burning good people together to enjoy camp fires, the coast, the ocean, and of course trails. More on this to come soon. Initially I’ll host a few in the UK, but I’m taking suggestions for Run Weekends elsewhere. Update: 👣😍✅🏃🏼‍♂️ — Hey folks, well I’m not exactly sure where to start. (Post 1 of 2) - Posted across two posts because there’s so much to say. — As ever the last few months have flown by. Summer has given way to the windy cold mornings of soon to be winter. Goodbye sun tan and beaches, hello to the snowy wonderland of the mountains. — Poppy and I have been busy in our little home on wheels in the van by the beach. So what have i been up to: Well.. juggling everything is the answer. And enjoying doing so. — Running: I’ve been doing plenty. In fact I’ve been gradually increasing my miles, stepping back into training for 2023 and beyond. With the darkness of early mornings, i’ve been able to run as the sun appears over the blustery cliff tops with the sun drenching the ocean in deep pinks and oranges. Poppy has had the beach to herself most mornings, and again later in the evening along the muddy rivers of the Gannel and around the hilly Cornish headlands. — Prepping: I’ve been laptop bound for 8 or 9 hours a day prepping for 2023 and the years of adventures ahead. I’ll say more soon. Imminently though, i have my 1000th marathon — 1000th Marathon: This will take place in November, around a track, in London. I hope to raise a shed load of cash for the charity and enjoy the wonders of the running community. More on this soon. Exact date and location to be announced. — Books: Firstly I’ve been singing a lot of books. Thanks to everyone who’s been reading Running The World. More and more books are being read around the world. As for the next book ‘Run Britain’… I’m in my final edit from Penguin, adding photos and maps to the book, prepping for 2023 release. As for the much talked about Photobook - this is FINALLY ready to share. If you want one, (large format 528 page hardback Photobook of Running The World)… please DM your email address and I’ll get a link to you. Pre Orders will get sent first. #Repost @.nickbutterrun with @get_repost If you like it...please Follow me to see more Day 675 - THE FINISH LINE 🏁 🌍🇬🇷🙏🙈🏃‍♂️ — How it feels to cross the line - the speaking tour next year - and how it nearly didn’t happen. — I don’t mind admitting I had a cry today 😢 - just quietly but a cry none the less. I looked out over the ancient city here in Athens and pondered all the stories, the people, the fear, the pain, the suffering, and the sacrifice over these last 675 days - I guess the tears were for the overwhelming feeling of relief more than anything, but also elation for actually making this happen, sadness that it’s over and pride in myself and the team. “I’ve done it” I said to myself. I’ve bloody done it. — There have been countless times when we thought it might not happen. Just 4 weeks ago I had a terrible call from my dad explaining the reality that lay ahead. My dad has been responsible for booking every flight and ensuring the overall plan to reach every country in time. This is a task I can’t even imagine taking on. Dad you’re a legend. — Dad called me and said “we have bad news I’m afraid - Iran have refused your visa, it’s now 95% likely that we won’t hit our finish date, if at all. I’m sorry”... he went on to say “Yemen have also refused the visa, someone has been shot and killed on the road you’ll be driving down in the next few days to gain access to Syria, and we have just 9 hours of wriggle room to make this work. You have 16 countries to go, 4 a week for 4 weeks, and even if we had this access to these countries sorted, the chances of something going wrong are high. I’m sorry son, I don’t know what to say, it really isn’t looking great.”. — The full story of how this was resolved and my finish date made possible is HUGE - No more space on this post. The book is out in April / May 2020 - If you want a copy early please email [email protected] — Similarly, if you’d like to hear all the tales of this epic adventure please contact [email protected] 🌍 I’ll be visiting 100+ schools around the UK and Europe and 100+ other venues. #Repost @.nickbutterrun with @get_repost If you like it...please Follow me to see more Day 585 - Turkmenistan 🇹🇲 Ashgabat Marathon 170 — With now just 26 x 26.2 miles remaining, the capital city of Turkmenistan provided a great day to trot around and ponder the madness of the adventure so far. It’s crazy to think that visiting 26 more countries in 3 months feels so simple and small. The scale of the journey, the success so far, and the weird and wonderful experiences started to hit home a little more today. — The capital here is weird to say the least - it could have easily been designed in the mind of a child. (And in some ways it was, he’s just a weird grown man). This is one mans obsession with horses, marble and control. Towards mile 5, i climbed up a gentle rising hill to look out on the view of the rest of the city and surrounding suburbs. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve witnessed the extreme wealth, poor divide literally within 1 kilometre of each other. Most of the nations people live in small green tin hut shacks - but the centre of the capital is the opposite. Taken from the set of Star Wars or a futuristic rich dictatorship, the streets are wide, the buildings are tall, wide, and everywhere you look you are faced with marbel. Other than glass, bright white marble is the only material allowed for building in the city. — I would say this is more weird than North Korea. Yes it’s that strange. Buildings that rise high into the sky and are made of immaculate white marble would loom over most cityscapes, but here, they are everywhere and 90% empty. Including my time in the airport, at dinner, in the hotel, and of course the run, i believe i saw no more than 300 people. Most of these where police (with ridiculous hats), road sweepers, and other workers. Huge 8 lane motorways were left so empty i ran down the middle of them. A pristine apocalyptic space station on earth. — #running #runner #run #runningtheworld196 #runtheworld #whoruntheworld #worldrunner #worldrecord #travel #traveller #fitguy #hotguy #runnerguy #travellerguy #justgiving #prostatecanceruk #prostatecancer #workout #photography #dosportlive #nickbutter #runtoinspire #happyru

What is @nickbutterrun #Fit in 50 - What is the Fit in 50 Challenge? — In short, I’m spending 50 weeks transforming my fitness and health using data to optimise progress. I’m spending 3 hours training in the gym 5 days a weeks, plus an extra 4 hours every day that includes running, skipping, rowing, swimming and work on my mobility . I’ve also completely overhauled of my diet in an attempt to show what can be achieved in less than a year. I’m 100% Vegan with mostly whole-foods and some supplements. It’s a very different kind of challenge to what I’m used to - and therefore it’s exactly the kind of thing that is getting me out of the comfort zone - which is where I thrive. — Every week i’m sharing my progress so others can pick up some tips and tricks along the way. My team and I are tracking over 300 data points each month - everything from bloods, 3D body mapping, VO2 testing, dexa scans, and a whole lot more. Everything and anything is tested to see exactly what the affects of 50 intense weeks does to my body - and of course wellbeing. I am NOT an expert in any of this. In fact it’s quite the opposite, so I’ve enlisted the brilliant minds of James @nutrition.for.energy and Dennis @conroyperformanceuk to build my training programme. A special mention to Mirafit who have provided all my gym equipment. I spent the last few weeks of 2021 building my own private gym space so I could train hard any time. — THANK YOU’s

#FITIN50 - DAY 026 — (Week 4 of 50) — Pic - Messy hair getting back from a rainy walk with Poppy 🐶❤️ — Update: It’s tough when you’re injured. Usually I’m pretty good at keep going. But learning to listen to my body. Having had lots of treatment for a couple do days on my neck, and some good advice from lots of people. I’ll have two more days off programme and then get back to it - substituting any exercises that may hinder repair. Plus I am then adapting for a week in the mountains. It’s cardio time, and things I know what I’m doing. Ski touring, building igloos, and sleeping in the mountains. Dennis has put together a body weight week for me with various bands so I can still continue growth. And I’m able to take some nutritional bits with me. James gave me a good list of bits to help continue veganhood even without easy shops around. — DATA — Training Log: — 1 Hours Running 0 Hours Gym Training 3 Hours Walking 0 Minutes Swimming 0 Minutes Skipping <10 mins See Dip — Gym Work: — None. — Food: — Carbs - 591g Fat - 192g Protein - 99g (Very bad day for food - comfort eating) — For any support and advice you’d like to give please DM. #FITIN50 - DAY 025 — (Week 4 of 50) — Pic - Out on a coastal walk with Poppy. — Update: My neck isn’t getting much better. One more day of rest before I start to worry. I’ve seen some experts and they say a little more rest and to check in. Chiropractor tomorrow and some anti inflammatories. Not entirely sure what’s been done… strain to multiple muscles down the right hand side of my neck apparently. All new to me.This is the second gym session I’ve missed. Which means I have 6 hours of gym time to make up over the coming weeks. Like with all of my goals it’s important to keep on top of the hours even if plans change. Look at me being sensible - who knew. — In other news, it was so nice to have Nikki pop by to see Poppy and I. Some of you may have noticed she’s not around. We sadly separated last year, but are still very close and great friends… so it was lovely for Poppy to go crazy seeing her. — DATA — Training Log: — 2 Hours Running 0 Hours Gym Training 2 Hours Walking 0 Minutes Swimming 0 Minutes Skipping <10 mins See Dip — Gym Work: — None. — Food: — Carbs - 418g Fat - 112g Protein - 131g — For any support and advice you’d like to give please DM. #FITIN50 - DAY 024 — (Week 4 of 50) — Pic - The van… where I spent most of the day due to my sore neck feeling sorry for myself… after a few hours in the gym, and a run. — Update: The team have said their goodbyes after a nice long walk on Pentire headland yesterday after y a hefty breakfast. I took the decision to NOT train yesterday because of my neck (kinda completely couldn’t move it)… but today it’s feeling like It might have been ok. Turns out gyming today was probably a bad idea. Neck now extra sore but did get a session in. I’m now looking to have some treatment on it. Lesson learnt - give my neck a little more time to recover. I’m used to ploughing on through injuries in running, but my neck is important and so going to take this more seriously. Got the food wrong today too. #FITIN50 - DAY 023 — (Week 4 of 50) — Pic - Poppy getting invoked with the gang in the gym! + Out for pizza (tasty vegan pizza) thanks to @mirafitofficial for all my lovely gym gear, and of course James and Dennis… and Poppy. She’s kind of helping. — Update: INJURY - oops. During yesterdays gym session, towards the end of lots of testing and several hours of training, I felt something go in my neck. Turns out that it hurt at the time but has since got worse - to the point my head doesn’t want to turn. So docs, get it checked out and paise training. Very easy to keep going but I’m learning to be sensible. After all this year is about Balance and overall health - rather than ruining my body like usual. Will update you. Also skipped on some protein today. Bad! Need to stop forgetting to have my Myo shakes even on the off days. — Thanks @tentbox - Dennis slept in the Tentbox for both nights - great reports from him on warmth and comfort - easy to forget that it’s massive and also has a memory foam mattress. #FITIN50 - DAY 017 — (Week 3 of 50) — Pic - The no filter dawn light of the 17th day of the year. The best brightest and most calm day of the year. — Update: — Went for double run, double run today. The weather was exceptional. No wind and loads of people in the sea. Nearing 3 full weeks of training and I’m feeling stronger. I’m logging all my learning plus of course all my data so I can share progress after month 1 of 12. Main thing is food and gym are the key pieces of the puzzle but it’s more about working smartly not just quality or quantity. Which is a new concept to me. — DATA — Training Log: — 2 Hours Running 3 Hours Gym Training 1 Hours Walking 30 Mins Swimming 30 Minutes Skipping <10 mins See Dip — Gym Work: — Warm Up Superset 1 4 x 12 Trap Bar Deadlift 4 x 6 Squat Jump Superset 2 3 x 10 Dumbbell Split Squat both legs 3 x 12 Lat Pull Down Bar Superset 3 3 x 12 Back Supported Dumbbell Shoulder Press 3 x 25s 5 Way Hips Superset 4 3 x 30s Hollow Holds 3 x 35s Static Kettlebell Suite Case Carry — Food: — Carbs - 316g Fat - 80g Protein - 157g — For any support and advice you’d like to give please DM. #FITIN50 - DAY 016 — (Week 3 of 50) — Pic - Out on our morning run. Beautiful weather over these few days. My body isn’t as tired as I’d expect but a little run down. Let plough through though. Poppy was very very sleepy. — Update: — A 2000m row today after a big gym session was a wipe out. Super interested to see how low I can get this. Started on 8 mins 3 secs. Think I can get 06:30 after lots of training. A big ask. Any advice? Crisp weather, extra long morning run, plus a tasty evening pasta meal. Stayed more or less perfect with nutrition. This is only week 3 but I’m learning to prep more, cook bigger meals and save for following day. Plus shop once and eat everything per week. I’m getting through a lot of Oatly skinny milk now. So I can have my fat from other things. — DATA — Training Log: — 2.5 Hours Running 3 Hours Gym Training 0 Hours Walking 30 Mins Swimming 30 Minutes Skipping <10 mins See Dip — Gym Work: — Warm Up Single 4 x 12 Supinated Barbell Bentover Row Superset 1 4 x 12 Floor Press 4 x 10 Single Arm Dumbbell Row Superset 2 4 x 12 Dumbbell Fly 4 x 12 Lat Pull Down 4 x 12 Dumbbell Pullover Single 5 x 35s Wall Deadbug — Food: — Carbs - 340g Fat - 116g Protein - 167g — For any support and advice you’d like to give please DM. #FITIN50 - DAY 014 — (Week 2 of 50) — Update: WEEK 2 - REVIEW — Well - I’m feeling the gains already. I’m learning that the dynamic gym routine, switching between push and pull motion with clear upper, lower, and full body workouts sprinkled throughout the week gives much less soreness and much more gains. 2 weeks down, and 48 to go. The food is also something that has been easier than I thought. The protein is the hardest. But it’s not been a battle to stay away from chocolate. I’m feeling full and healthier. I’ve been strict vegan for 14 days. I’ve skipped, I’ve swam, I’ve cycled, I’ve run, it’s time to mix things up soon. Maybe more time cycling on the bike and less running for a few weeks. James has suggested increasing my cals by about 350 so I’ll be aiming for around 3750 per day now. — Weekly Training Log: — Mins Running = 379 Mins Walking = 107 Mins Swimming = 180 Mins Gyming = 944 Mins Skipping = 150 — Gym Work: — Box Squat Double Leg SnapDowns Kettlebell Spit Stance RDL Ring Row Push Up Negative 3 Way Calf Raise Active Hollow Hold Standing Pallof Press Supinated Barbell Bent Over Row Floor Press Single Arm Dumbbell Row Dumbbell Fly Banded Lat Pull Down (bar) Dumbbell Pullover Wall Deadbug Trap Bar Deadlift Squat Jump Dumbbell Split Squat Lat Pull Down (Plus another 18 that won’t fit in this post) — Food: — Carbs - 3329g (Average P/D = 475g) Target = 400 Protein - 1110g (Average P/D = 158g) Target = 160 Fat - 888g (Average P/D = 126g) Target = 90 — For any support and advice you’d like to give please DM. #FITIN50 - Day 000 — The 2022 Challenge has begun. 💪❤️ — Welcome to my new gym. 😛🤩 @nickbutterrun — Big thanks to Mirafit for all the gear. Love it. 💪 — #Fitin50 - What is the Fit in 50 Challenge? — In short, I’m spending 50 weeks transforming my fitness and health using data to optimise progress. I’m spending 3 hours training in the gym 5 days a weeks, plus an extra 4 hours every day that includes running, skipping, rowing, swimming and work on my mobility. I spent the last few weeks of 2021 building my own private gym space so I could train hard any time - plus Poppy the dog can mooch around with me while I train. — As a bonus I’m using 2022 to become more wholesome, more grounded, and to focus on overall wellbeing too. Let’s see what the year brings. — @nickbutterrun 💪 #mirafit #mirafitofficial #fitin50 #fitin50weeks #50weektransformation #transformation #running #runner #run #gym #motivation #gymmotivation  #training #health #fitness #healthyliving #fitnessinspiration #runningtheworld196 #runbritain #nickfitin50 #fit #wellbeing #sundayvibes
