Mum is spending the day wrapping up all filming for our YT channel here and packing stuff to move. What a night! Mum and brother were awakened at 0130, 0215, and 0500 because of Bing! Mum even got a flashlight at 0215 and went looking in the dark for her! Peacock yells are LOUD! Can our sweet, blind Mocha hang out at your house? Mocha’s foster family is moving, so she is losing her foster home very soon, even though she’s loved there. We would love to see Mocha in a foster or forever home where someone is around a lot, and there isn’t too much going on. This precious girl is cuddly, loving, and doesn’t ask for much. She loves to sit quietly wherever you are, and is always willing to keep you company no matter what you’re doing. Mocha does become stressed when other dogs are too close to her face, but that’s very understandable since she’s visually impaired. A home with a calmer dog, or even no dogs at all ( cats are fine) would be better suited for our special girl, as she would not do well in a pack situation where dogs might jump on her or bump into her often. If you’ve never fostered a blind dog before, it’s just a matter of keeping her safe from things like stairs, and allowing her a few days to get the lay of the land figured out. Mocha will follow the sound of your voice, and does very well once she’s comfortable. Mocha is truly special, and is very deserving of a place where she can finally settle. She’s been through a lot after surviving life in a busy shelter, and will repay you with her undying love and affection. MEET PAPI ❤️ Papi and Yadira share a long history. She rescued him during her first month at the shelter, nursing him back to health. Yadira received an adoption offer for him that she thought was a good one, only to discover a year later that Papi was in very bad condition. Yadira said, ‘It was very hard for me to see him like that, and I ended up taking him back in.’ Papi is one of our special needs animals because he is blind, but his lack of vision doesn’t seem to bother him. He doesn’t mind the activity of the other dogs playing around him. He’s a quiet, sweet boy who loves to be stroked. Today we would like to introduce you to 2 of our newest Sanctuary residents, Mr. Peabody (left) and Sherman (right)! Both of these precious seniors have suffered horrible neglect, found themselves abandoned, then sat heartbroken behind shelter walls wondering what they did wrong to deserve this. These tiny, fragile boys are from 2 different shelters; when we were alerted of their dire need for help we could not say no. They have been through so much pain physically and mentally. We could not let these boys down; they deserve a second chance to have the lives they should have had all along. They most certainly did not deserve to die. Interestingly enough, they both realized how much they need each other and have bonded, becoming close friends here at the Sanctuary - a dynamic that is truly beautiful to observe. Mr. Peabody and Sherman have both received the urgent, necessary medical care and we will continue to make sure they receive the very best Vet care possible; we never settle for substandard care. Our promise is to provide them both with a safe and loving environment for the rest of their lives no matter how long they are with us, and we are committed to keeping this promise. Tonight, we officially start Kawaii's lifelong treatment for EPI. We are aware there will be ups and downs, and there's going to be a lot of seeing what treatment plan works for her and what doesn't, but hey, it can only go up from here, right? It may not look like much, but this is a huge deal for mama Linda! She’s been going a bit stir crazy and really wants to be a part of the rest of the household, but she gets nervous and when she gets nervous, she gets bitey. Oscar is somehow the most lowkey of my dogs, plus he’s Tina’s BFF, so I’m trying to slowly get her used to at least him to give her some much needed social interaction and mental stimulation. Baby steps are still steps and I continue to be so proud of this girl and how far she’s come.
