“Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.” The past few weeks have never rang truer! While there has been a lot of good going on, there was also a lot of not so good news. We often only share the good, but believe me, EVERYONE has life stuff going on. On Tues April 2nd, while in Iowa having a great time teaching and visiting friends, I found out that I will be caregiver once again this June for my husband due to a major procedure to get him back into remission from cancer. I also found out that day I needed to get surgery, and none other than on the day that I was supposed to celebrate a huge milestone in my career. Long story short, we are all HUMANS first, and life is gonna happen. Let the resilience that we build as musicians help us navigate those ups and downs in life, and vice versa. In the end, be grateful, live your best life, and don’t forget to do all the things that bring you joy in life, because life is too damn short! Due to the unstable weather conditions, Blockchain Life 2024 has now been extended to include an additional day, April 17! It has been entirely too eventful lately. Stress, financial anxieties, and a veritable blitz of health assaults built upon and/or complicating chronic issues. The polyps mentioned previously continue to grow, causing pain and pressure and necessitating a cholecystectomy and full pathological testing of the organ and its growths to see if it's cancer. This is, of course, on top of the long-term vagus nerve damage that was dramatically worsened by COVID and the usual issues associated with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. Add to that the reality that in March a minor respiratory virus led to an epic sequence of eye infections—first viral, then bacterial, then allergic—that, at their worst, swelled my entire face and functionally blinded me for more than a week..and in the middle of that I was bitten by a juvenile brown recluse spider. Thankfully, despite a significant inflammatory response, the necrosis was limited to the immediate area around the fang marks—something that tends to be true more often than not, ~95% of the time, despite the fearsome reputation the recluse carries. And yet that is still not all of it...as the foundation of the house needed to be piered, leading to a porch that had to be demolished and rebuilt, a sinkhole in the driveway necessitating the replacement of a third of the drive's cement, and a front walk that had to be redone to align with the new porch steps and eliminate trip hazards as I am often very unsteady on my feet. These required a second mortgage and another small, personal loan to fund. So. Nothing's going on here, eh? What about you? LOL My surgery is Tuesday. They tell me the biopsy results will take 5 to 7 days. Well friends, it's been a week!! Fortune ripped his front pads on Monday, and it's quite nasty. Poor guy can barely walk on them, so he is sporting his wee boots to help ease the pain. It's particularly tough outside...poor guy. 😮💨 Bundle (last pic) is sporting his catheter. I believe he ate pieces of a towel on Monday and has been puking up bits since then. Of course, it happens in the wee hours 🙄. Was back and forth to the vet several times today. Did x-rays and he was on IV fluid in hopes of moving things. Picked him up and he promptly puked in the car 🤦🏼♀️. Back home now and actually praying he pukes more tonight and gets it all out.
