I remember a particular client joining back for my classes after taking a break. She said something that has stuck with me. She said, "now I know what I have been missing." Fast-forward to a few more months and this same client stopped coming in for classes because of other priorities. The article says that not moving enough can lead to serious health problems like heart disease, diabetes, and even depression. But if you start exercising, it can really help you avoid these issues. The review highlights that even a little bit of exercise can make a big difference, especially if you havenโ€™t been active before. By following the recommended guidelines and getting your body moving, you can reduce the risk of many illnesses. The review recommends following the physical activity guidelines provided by Health Canada. These guidelines suggest engaging in moderate-intensity aerobic activity for at least 150 minutes per week, or vigorous-intensity aerobic activity for at least 75 minutes per week. Additionally, itโ€™s beneficial to include muscle-strengthening activities at least two days per week. This video is much like the "Going on a Bear Hunt" videos in English. This is based on a song that I learned working at summer camps. According to studies, a combination of Physical Activity (PA) and Exercise (Ex) is crucial for weight loss. But PA and Ex are totally two different things: ๐Ÿ‹๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธ Ex: all the structured activities weโ€™re scheduling during our week (gym sessions, run, football, etc.); ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธPA: all the activities that involve daily movements (walking, standing, climbing the stairs, etc.) ๐Ÿคœ Studies have also shown how increasing PA guarantees more success than increasing Ex, for two reasons: 1) PA increases your energy expenditure compared with Ex, 2) Introducing more PA is mentally โ€œsimpleโ€ and sustainable related to Ex, and 3) A higher level of PA regulates the mechanism that keeps us satiated/satisfied. ๐Ÿ˜‹ The carousel shows how the level of physical activity is connected with satiety regulation. Although is true that we move more, we eat more. It also is true that our satiety signal will be precisely regulated and we will have a more controlled energy intake. This stimulus is due to a regulatory signal which prevents obesity and malnutrition. ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™‚๏ธ We can see (on the left side) the โ€œlifestyle PAโ€ compared with a forced PA. As you can see with a positive mindset regarding PA, you will keep yourself more active. Instead, when people force themselves to move, their PA decreases. This graph explains how a positive mindset will help with weight loss in the long term. ๐Ÿ“ From a practical perspective, I always tell my clients to focus on physical activity rather than adding more training sessions to their week. The reason is simple: being active is crucial for managing your health and body fat. As this study shows, you can simply be leaner and healthier by moving your body a bit more.
