Mexico pt 1: Xcacel - Akumal - Xel Ha - Chemuyil We spent our first 3 nights at @xcaceldreams a beautiful hotel near the Xcacel beach, with great food, ambience, and friendly staff I had never been to a cenote before (natural limestone sinkhole filled with water) but on our first day, we saw 5 of them. They’re everywhere here. Some are nicer than others. Some are very unique. All of them are a great way to cool off in the Mexican heat Akumal beach is known for its turtles but due to the wind, we couldn’t go see any. It’s still a great beach to sit at and enjoy some drinks though We went into the town of Akumal for food and had our first tacos at a place called Chucky’s 😂 Akumal town is not at all touristy and it felt like a very authentic local experience The next day we went to Xel Ha, a natural water park where you can snorkel: swim with dolphins, manatees, and manta rays; and has an awesome salt water slide. It also has unlimited food and drink which makes up for the pricey admission cost and gave us something to do during the downpour on the last hour of our visit. This was the first 3 days of 12.
