❤️⚖️Conform or condone ⚖️🧠 Ok - you might be thinking…what is this even about? Why is she saying that it’s possible that everyone is wrong? Whats this got to do with supporting behaviour? 🧏‍♀️ I hear you! We live is a world that is full of comparison, compliance and condemnation. We are setting our children up to focus on ‘fitting in’ not rocking the metaphorical boat, not drawing outside of the lines. But in order to live extraordinary lives, you must allow for yourself to be your extraordinary selves. By definition, extraordinary art people do not fit in, they rock boats and the certainly defy the lines on the page they are provided. How many times have we as adults, yep myself included it pains me to say 🤦🏻‍♀️, prevented a young persons mid expression because it was not judged to be correct in one way or another? How many times do we as grown ups pass on our own need to conform and comply for fear our children will stand out and risk rejection? But the fuller truth is, if our young people can be their unapologetic selves they have the opportunity to live happier, healthier and more connected lives. Yes, everyone can be wrong about you! Yes everyone can misjudge and overlook Yes, everyone can misunderstand and miscommunicate YES, we can all do something to help our young people feel seen, heard, loved and extraordinary so that they can live their extraordinary lives! Change your behaviour lens and start seeing it as what it is. IMO restitution is one of THE most important pieces of repair but it CANNOT be done when children are in their survival brain (fight, flight, freeze). Step 1: de-escalate Step 2: restitute and repair when the child is de-escalated (could be a day later and that’s okay). It is essential that the R+R is done in a time of connection and when the child feels safe. When we create the conditions to help the child fix the problem and return to the group strengthened, it’s magic ✨. R+R helps the child feel that no matter what, they are still loved, no matter what, they are not alone, and that we all make mistakes. If you would have told teenage me that I would have three kids, a loving partner of ten almost 11 years, and the nicest family to welcome me with open arms, I would have laughed at you. . Happy September Smiley Brains Tribe! And it will definitely be for all of us! New School Year , Νew Challenges! The school year in Greece starts on September 13 and although we have another two weeks of vacation we have already bought the first school supplies and we are repeating what we learned last year through fun activities. What will happen this year? Will we have classes in the classroom or will we do it remotely? We will definitely start with lessons in the classroom. No official decision has been made for the children in the fire-affected areas in Greece, but I hope a solution is given immediately. Surely the first month will pass slowly, repeating everything the students learned last year. The curriculum in public and private schools is the same. No change! Students will have to do self-diagnostic tests twice a week. Τhe mask remains a necessary for the vaccinated and the unvaccinated. The primary goal of parents and teachers should be the mental and physical health of children. Smart and Creative time management. As long as there is nice weather, children should be out in nature. Vitamin D, "the vitamin of the Sun" is essential for the body's defense. Exercise and Games without screens. Elementary school children should focus on handwriting and reading, something they did with difficulty last year because of distance learning. Dear parents and teachers, I know that the tudy is heavy. But children need to see our smile to feel safe. Together we can do it. Cave Cardboard Craft Finally sharing this cute simple cardboard cave diorama I created for Julian. He has become very obsessed with animal tracks. Diorama are great opportunities for children to use their imagination to the fullest and to make their play more meaningful. Our diorama was intended for Julian to help him match animal track impression. He enjoyed playing with the animals I printed for him and watch them go through the caves. 🏗 CONSTRUCTION SENSORY 🏗 • @daily_dig inspired me to setup a construction sensory play! Love bug res enjoyed this one! He enjoyed putting the beans into the trucks and digging. • Tips for setting up sensory play: -include items your child is interested in like for us we used trucks! -keep it simple. Use items from the kitchen. You don’t have to dye the filler for it to be inviting! If you want to add color that’s great too! -Use materials that allow easy storage. Especially if you dyed the filler so you can reuse it! -have a mat or newspaper under for easy cleanup. I have our favorite silicone reusable mat linked in my bio.
