RICKY STANICKY (2024) For 25 years, three best friends had one big secret. Meet the man, the myth, the lie, Ricky Stanicky. This film reminds me a lot of the movie Tag where a group of grown ups are still playing the same game or tactics they used to do back in the day when they were kids. I’ve enjoyed director Peter Farrelly’s past work particularly Dumb and Dumber, The Heartbreak Kid and The Three Stooges. I have mixed feelings about Ricky Stanicky. I thought the concept and plot was silly however it had potential but the writing turned out to be thinly-written and fell flat, the raunchy jokes were laughable at first but it was stretched out to the point it wasn’t that funny anymore and gets tiring. The comedic bits genuinely made me laugh, most of the time it was cringe but there were times that I enjoyed where it was cheesy and laughable that I find hilarious. You know when you listen to a joke way too many times, the first time you hear it, it was funny as hell but as they repeat the joke continuously in one go it doesn’t sound funny anymore? That’s how I feel for every raunchy joke made in this film. Some of it was repetitive or dragged out, especially the air “job” gestures. John Cena dressed as Peter Frampton while singing Baby I Love Your Way and his jizz jams actually made me laugh out loud. While the supporting casts were good, Zac Efron and John Cena definitely carried this movie despite the lackluster writing. I’m impressed with Zac’s improvement in acting, especially after reading tons of good reviews on his performance for The Iron Claw last year. John Cena was really committed to the role he’s playing, he gave all his energy as Ricky, he had the charisma and wittiness delivering hilarious lines with a straight face with precise comedic timing, the guy was hilarious. I also think he showed range in his acting skills as opposed to being typecast as an action figure. The runtime is almost 2 hours but with repetitive storytelling, it didn’t need to be that long. Ricky Stanicky was still enjoyable and I laughed at the crude jokes, my only issue is that they were stretched out too long that it became repetitive. Overall, it was mediocre. RATING: 4/10

Un duo légendaire, l’histoire de deux amis complètement… Bête ! La débilité suprême, il n’y a pas d’autres mots mais qu’est ce qu’on éclate de rire du début à la fin. Jim Carrey n’est pas à présenté, c’est le meilleur acteur de comédie que j’ai vu dans les films américains, Jeff Daniels complète parfaitement la tête d’affiche, on se revoit la belle dans le film, limite un concours pour savoir qui est le plus abruti à travers des scènes mémorables ( la boule de neige, la langue collée au poteau du télésiège), ils ont la bonne étoile au dessus de leur tête, ils arrivent constamment, on ne sait comment à se sortir de tout situation, alors qu’ils sont sur le point de se faire tuer. Leur naïveté est légendaire, les frères Farrelly offrent un récital de scène cocasses, de répliques tordantes, d’un humour ravageur et décalé, limite parfois très sombre. Dumb and Dumber est un film juste pour rire, pas pour réfléchir, pour nous rappeler à quel point c’est important de le faire. C’est burlesque, on s’attache à ces deux gars qui au départ n’ont pas spécialement de chance et qui au fur et mesure vont mener une aventure trépidante au volant.. D’une camionnette légendaire, déguisé en chien. Rien que ça, vous avez comprit le délire. Last March I was invited to meet with legendary comedy director Peter Farrelly on the set of Ricky Stanicky (now on @amazon ) in Melbourne. I thought we’d just chat over coffee about a film script I co-wrote that he was reading, but then he called out to wardrobe to put me in some bowling kit and threw me in to the background of the scene! I had a hoot hanging out with John Cena and one of the brilliant writers James Lee Freeman and @youknowsunanda and my buddy Daniel Monks. Zac Efron and Andrew Santino were delightful! I’ve been getting a bunch of people sending me screen shots asking ‘dude is that you?’ So I thought I’d share these pics as the film is so much fun. @ladyheathermitchell and @debralawranceofficial are hilarious in it and it’s a massive LOL so check it out if you haven’t yet!

Road movie che dipinge l’America degli anni sessanta, il razzismo e come venga affrontato da ceti sociali diversi. Viggo Mortensen è un buttafuori Italoamericano che deve accompagnare in un tour un pianista interpretato da Mahershala Ali che conquisterà anche l’oscar per l’interpretazione. Quello che fa più male è quanto un modo di pensare degli anni 60 sia ancora presente oggi. L’immagine incredibile è come un pianista venga riconosciuto come grande maestro, accolto nei grandi teatri ma che non gli sia concesso di andare a mangiare dove si trova praticamente tutto il pubblico che lo ha ascoltato ed applaudito. Il legame tra i due si crea con il proseguire del film e si aiuteranno a vicenda per comprendere il modo migliore per vivere ed amare in questo mondo. Ricky Stanicky (2024) Genre : Comedy Rating : 7/10 A group of friends make up a person to take the blame for all their misdeeds. The movie was, honestly, exactly as advertised! Youre going to see John Cena as you’ve never seen him before! I mean, the guy is so versatile, he’s so funny and he makes every role that he does, his own. Its such a pleasure to watch him doing movies, after seeing him as a wrestler for literally my entire childhood. The rest of the cast was good too, the jokes were funny, they were delivered really well and overall, it was enjoyable. The thing that I liked the most about the film was the plot twist at the end, usually, I take a lot of pride in the fact that I can predict how movies will turn out and for the most part, this movie followed the general formula but the ending was good. Although, I felt like some characters were very underdeveloped, like they explained why Zac Efron’s character felt the need to lie but they never got into why Jermaine Fowler’s and Andrew Santino’s characters were the way that they were. Still, it was a fun movie to watch like once, mostly for John Cena! So, definitely check this one out guys! My opinion: I do think this was a good movie. Just, ya know, not Best Picture worthy. I just, ya know, felt the story while good, did have a few problems when it came to depicting the racial tensions back in the 60’s and how alienated Don Shirley was to these problems when in actuality, he was very woke. And yes, I do know what that word means so don’t start saying I’m one of those grifters because I ain’t. I mean, from a story standpoint it’s kind of solid but since this is meant to be a representation of a musician, I don’t know. But the rest of the story, is still solid, I just think there were a few problems especially with some of the dialogue and derivative plot. Honestly, what makes this movie decent is Viggo Mortensen and Marhershala Ali. Not gonna lie, these two are incredible together. I loved every interaction they shared. You can honestly feel the tension they have at the beginning before it grows into a deep bond. Mortensen as Tony Lips is a funny and likeable driver despite the fact he can be insensitive when it comes to race. It’s stated he does believe in the classic black stereotype of fried chicken but he isn’t trying to be insensitive as he believes that stereotypes are facts. Again, Mortensen is brilliant. Mortensen was nominated for an Academy Award for best actor, but like Willem Dafoe in At Eternity’s Gate and Bradley Cooper in A Star Is Born, lost to Rami Malek for Bohemian Rhapsody. And Ali is brilliant as the calm and intelligent musician who manages to tolerate Tony’s biases and educates him. Plus, Ali does get annoyed and angry and frustrated with a few things, especially when he gets racially profiled. Ali did win the Academy Award for best supporting actor but I personally think Sam Elliot should have won, so far anyway 👇🏻

Dumb and Dumber- Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne are best friends and roommates living in Rhode Island. They’re disillusioned with their lives, working menial jobs, and achieving nothing. But they don’t know that the suitcase is full of money that was meant to be ransom for Mary’s husband. Now with killers on their tail they’re headed to Aspen and a showdown with Mary and the bad men following them. While there are some funny moments in John Cena’s new juvenile comedy, they are in such short supply that I can’t recommend audiences to see his latest, RICKY STANICKY. Esta es la premisa del film y de ella podrían haberse librado varias secuencias hilarantes, pero del dicho al hecho hay mucho trecho. Ricky Stanicky (2024) Blurb: What a movie! It’s about a group of childhood pals who hire an actor to pretend to be their non-existent friend, Ricky Stanicky. John Cena as the titular character is the only reason to watch this, and even the jokes he’s given don’t really make it worthwhile. The three straight men to Cena’s clown, Zac Efron, Jermaine Fowler and Andrew Santino, are bland, unfunny and underdeveloped characters. They are basically just there to keep the plot moving forward. Even William H. Macy’s talents are totally wasted in his role as Efron and Santino’s boss. Things are brought up that feel like they are laying the groundwork for jokes or plot developments later in the script, only to never be revisited again. It’s almost as if the outcome was left on the cutting room floor, but they still left the set-up to them in the movie for some reason. There are a few gags I found mildly amusing, and John Cena proves once again to be a capable comedic actor, but this feels too lazily slapped together to waste your time on. Skip it! I wasn't expecting much from Director Peter Farrelly's (Green Book, Something about Mary) newest film "Ricky Stanicky," and maybe it's that low standard going in that lead to me rather enjoying it. Following a group of friends who have concocted a life long made up scapegoat that is the title character as a means to constantly get out of trouble, they are soon forced into hiring an alcoholic actor to play him forcing them to reevaluate themselves and their actions or lack of them. This loose premise shouldn't work at all, and certain bits feel insanely rushed and as if found on test footage, but there's just something so hilariously stupid about it that I just loved. That stupid thing is all thanks to John Cena, whose complete willingness to poke fun at himself and be the visual punching bag is so damn commendable that I found every bit with him in it to be a laugh riot. The same goes for another actor, I just don't see enough, William H. Macy. Do I know that this film is stupid? Absolutely. Do I know it feels unpolished? Yup. But is there just a small enough space for a dumb comedy to fit into my life? Yes, yes, there is. Raczej nie! “Ricky Stanicky” to film w reżyserii Petera Farrelly’ego, uznanego twórcy nagrodzonego Oscarem za Green Book z 2018 roku. Po kimś takim można by się spodziewać wyjątkowej historii. Z drugiej strony w rolach głównych występują John Cena i Zac Efron, co znacznie studzi oczekiwania. Ku mojemu zaskoczeniu okazało się, że to historia jest dość słaba, a z kolei gra aktorska wszystko ratuje. Film opowiada o trzech przyjaciołach, którzy przed wielu laty wymyślili fikcyjną postać Ricky’ego Stanicky’ego, aby uniknąć kłopotów po dziecięcym psikusie. Z biegiem lat, Ricky staje się skuteczną i dobrze dopracowaną wymówką dla wszystkich ich wybryków. W pewnym momencie rodziny bohaterów domagają się spotkania z niesławnym Rickym, w związku z czym przyjaciele zmuszeni są wynająć aktora o imieniu Rod (John Cena), aby ten wcielił się w postać Ricky’ego. Historia jest dość infantylna, wiele żartów wychodzi słabo, a morał przedstawiony jest w łopatologiczny sposób, ale mimo wszystko film ma kilka świetnych momentów. Najlepiej wypada właśnie John Cena, który świetnie wchodzi w rolę aktora z licznymi problemami. To on jest głównym motorem napędowym fabuły i to jego decyzje prowadzą do najzabawniejszych scen. “Ricky Stanicky” nie zapadnie mi w pamięć na dłużej, ale nie żałuję czasu, który poświęciłem na ten film. Nie nudziłem się ani przez chwilę, a kilka scen wywołało szeroki uśmiech na mojej twarzy. To po prostu dobra rozrywka, kiedy nie szukamy akurat historii z głębszym sensem.
