green stack for may and mental health awareness month 💚🍀🌿🌱🐢🍏🦠🧩 while i’m not quite sure if it’s an affirmation my favorite thing to remind myself lately that has helped with my mental health (and part of the reason i loved funny story so much) is that why settle for OKAY things when you can have GREAT things. a lot of my mental health struggles stemmed from being in a taxing job where I wasn’t happy and while it was stable and I had job security (an okay thing) I knew I wanted something more (a great thing). I took the leap almost a year ago to leave and while I still have hard days I know the only thing standing in the way of me being happy is myself. we’re all stronger than we give ourselves credit for and we all deserve GREAT things! if you ever feel like you’re struggling with mental health, my DMs are always open! 🫶🏻 thank you @dreamerwithabook for the content inspo, from her may content list! ✨
REVIEW: 3.5 stars. Read with my sister. I liked the mystery but was a bit disappointed by the ending. We both felt like there was a lot of connections and ‘foreshadowing’ that wasn’t tied up at the end. We also felt the characters felt pretty one-dimensional and very similar to each other. This together with issues with the timescale, we felt gave the book an unpolished feel. However, we really liked the newspaper articles and letters between the chapters. 11/2024 📚 ഭൂരിഭാഗം പുസ്തകങ്ങളും എന്നെ സംബന്ധിച്ച് ഒറ്റ തവണ വായനയാണ്. കഥാസന്ദർഭമല്ലാതെ കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളെപോലും ഓർമയിൽ നിന്നും പെറുക്കിയെടുക്കാൻ കഴിയാറില്ല. ഒന്നിലധികം തവണ വായിക്കുകയും അതിലെ കഥയും കഥാപാത്രങ്ങളും വർഷങ്ങൾക്ക് ശേഷവും ഓർമയിൽ നിൽക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന ചുരുക്കം ചില പുസ്തകങ്ങളിൽ ഒന്നാണ് ആടുജീവിതം. ആടുജീവിതം ഒരു എട്ടാം ക്ലാസ്സിലെ വായനയായിരുന്നു. മലയാളം ടീച്ചർ വായിക്കുവാൻ കൈകളിൽ വച്ചു തന്ന പുസ്തകം.അന്നത്തെ വൈകുന്നേരം തുടങ്ങിയ വായന പുസ്തകത്തിന്റെ അവസാന താളും കഴിഞ്ഞു. ബെന്യാമിനെ ആദ്യമായി വായിക്കുന്നതും ആടുജീവിതത്തിലൂടെയാണ്. വായന അവസാനിച്ചപ്പോൾ ചുറ്റിലും മരുഭൂമിയിലെ ഉഷ്ണകാറ്റായിരുന്നു. മനസ്സിൽ നിറയെ വർഷങ്ങളായി പ്രവാസ ജീവിതം നയിക്കുന്ന അച്ഛനും. അതിനാലാവാം ആ പുസ്തകം കുറച്ചേറെ എന്നെ നൊമ്പരപ്പെടുത്തിയത്. നജീബിനെ പോലെ ഞാനും നിസ്സഹായയായിരുന്നു വായനയുടെ അവസാനം.വായനാനുഭവവും വിശേഷങ്ങളുമൊക്കെ ഉൾപ്പെടുത്തി ബെന്യാമിന് ഒരു കത്ത് അങ്ങ് എഴുതി.ബെന്യാമിൻ "കുളനട പി. പന്തളം" അത്രമാത്രേ മേൽവിലാസം എഴുതിയിരുന്നുള്ളു. അത് ഏത് കാറ്റിൽ പറന്ന് പോയോ എന്തോ 😂 വർഷങ്ങൾക്കിപ്പുറം അന്നത്തെ നജീബിനെ, ആ ജീവിതത്തെ, അതിലെ മനുഷ്യരെ സ്‌ക്രീനിൽ കാണാൻ കഴിയുക എന്നത് ഭാഗ്യമാണ്. എന്റെ പുസ്തക വായന മുഴുവൻ ഭാവനയിലാണ്. ഓരോ വരിയിലും ആ ലോകത്തിലൂടെ തന്നെ ആവും വായന. അതിനാൽ സിനിമ എനിക്ക് Work ആയില്ല.വ്യക്തിപരമായ അഭിപ്രായം. നജീബ് എന്ന മനുഷ്യൻ ജീവിച്ചു തീർത്ത ജീവിതത്തിൽ അഭിപ്രായം പറയാൻ നമ്മളാരുമല്ല. ജീവിത കഥയാണ്. അത് അത്ര പോരന്നോ കുറച്ച് കൂടെ മെച്ചപ്പെടുത്താമെന്നോ പറയാൻ കഴിയുമോ !! പക്ഷേ പുസ്തകം അന്നും ഇന്നും മനസ്സിൽ ഇടം നേടിയതാണ്. ആ പുസ്തകത്തിന് എന്റെയുള്ളിൽ കൊടുത്ത ഭംഗി നഷ്ടപെടാതിരിക്കാൻ കൂടിയായിരുന്നു ഈ പുനർവായന. ആടുജീവിതം എനിക്ക് വെറുമൊരു പുസ്തകം മാത്രമല്ലായിരുന്നു ഒരുപാട് വായിച്ചിരുന്ന ഒരു ചെറിയ പെൺകുട്ടിയുടെ ഗൃഹാതുരത്വം നിറഞ്ഞ ഓർമ്മകളിലൂടെയുള്ള തിരിച്ചുപോക്കുകൂടിയായിരുന്നു. #aadujeevitham #benyamin #najeeb #reader #mustreadbooks #malayalambookreview #malayalamliterature #readingtime📖 #bookremmondation #bookstagrammer #review #bibliophile #bookholic #bibiliomania #booklover #dcpublications #currentbooks #greenbook #hakkeem #pravasi #desert #stories #lifeexperience #memories

Znacie serię o kosiarzach? Lubicie ją? Ja sięgnęłam po nią po opinii Zuzy z #Zaksiążkowane i Magdy #GetBooky 👏 4/5 ah ci #Kosiarze... 1 tom kocham całym sercem, 2 mnie zniechęcił do dalszego czytania, przez co #Żniwo czekało kilka miesięcy. Ostatecznie oceniłam na 4, bo zżyłam się z postaciami, koniec końców wspominam tę część dobrze. Był tu mini element sci fi co mnie pozytywnie zaskoczyło. Przesłuchałam od razu #pokłosie i opowiadanie o Carsonie/Marsie było cu do wne. Tak pięknie zbudowali postać, którą poznaliśmy w Kosiarzach (nie zdradzę Wam kogo!). Opowiadanie o artystach również mi się podobało. Czy polecam całą serię? Green Book, Peter Farrelly, 2018 Un excellent film, complexe, pas déprimant, drôle, avec des dialogues très bien écrits et de très bons acteurs. Aucune lourdeur sur le traitement du sujet du racisme (les silences en disent bien assez), et des scènes fortes et touchantes (arrêt à la limite d'un champ avec l'opposition Shirley en costard/Noirs qui triment ; dialogue sur la "culture" noire avec Tony qui estime que lui en est le plus proche, car il écoute des chanteurs noirs, mange du KFC et surtout travaille dur chaque jour pour avoir juste de quoi continuer ; scène où Shirley s'interroge sur qui il est s'il n'est ni assez Blanc ni assez Noir ; ...). Bref, ça pointe pas mal de réflexions hyper intéressantes. Et ça met vraiment en valeur l'absurdité de la situation. #film #greenbook

Hoy vamos a realizar un viaje al conocimiento, a saber más sobre el "Libro verde"(Green Book). 🎥¿De qué va la película? Tony Lip, interpretado por Viggo Mortensen, es contratado para un trabajo que consiste en hacer de conductor y guardaespaldas de Don Shirley, interpretado por Mahershala Alí, un virtuoso pianista negro de jazz que va realizar una gira de conciertos desde Manhattan hasta el sur profundo de Estados Unidos, en plena época de la segregación racial en 1962. Para el viaje cuentan con un guía en la que deben de confiar: "El Libro Verde". Una guía de los pocos establecimientos que eran seguros para los afroamericanos en ese momento. Ambos tendrán que dejar sus diferencias y prejuicios a lo largo del viaje. Surgirá así una bonita amistad verdadera unida por la bondad y el buen humor. Al final aprenderán uno del otro y conseguirán realizar un viaje inolvidable. 📗¿Qué es el "Green Book"? La película "Green Book" está basada en hechos reales, por lo tanto, el título se refiere a un texto conocido como "The Negro Motorist Green Book"(El libro verde del conductor negro), una guía que se publicó entre 1936 y 1967 de hoteles, restaurantes, bares y estaciones de servicio que sí atendían a afroamericanos. El autor del libro fue Victor Hugo Green, un cartero de Harlem, Nueva York. Gracias a sus compañeros carteros consiguió reunir mucha información para hacer la guía. Durante esos años, en Estados Unidos, estaban vigentes las "leyes de Jim Crow" con el lema de "separados pero iguales", imponiendo así la segregación racial en el sur del país. Una guía hecha para darle seguridad al viajero negro para evitar dificultades y situaciones peliagudas aunque para algunos era una excusa perfecta para poder ser hostiles con ellos hasta el punto de que si entrabas en un bar equivocado en la ciudad podía peligrar tu vida. 人種差別がまだ色濃い1960年代のアメリカ南部が舞台。イタリア系アメリカ人の男性と天才ピアニストの黒人男性。ピアニストの運転手として雇われ、ツアーで旅をしていく中で友情を深めていく。想像がつきやすいストーリー展開だが、観終わったあとの感動はもちろん、その余韻が暫く続く素晴らしい映画だった。 運転手トニーを演じるビゴ。ロードオブザリングの時の面影のかけらもないビゴだが、人種差別主義者からどんどんそうでなくなっていく過程がとても自然に描かれている。 ピアニスト役を演じるマハーシャラは、差別に屈しない凛とした姿が観ているこちらも勇気付けられるが、ポーカーフェイスのなかに切ない心境がチラッと見える場面もあり、繊細な演技も素晴らしい。 日本で暮らしていると、人種差別があまり身近ではないが、自分と違う人種、あるいは価値観の違う人を無意識に拒否している時も少なくない。 心と心の交流は、不可能を可能にする力があることを改めて感じた。 #moviemakesmehappy #greenbook #ViggoMortensen #MahershalaAli #グリーンブック #人種差別 #raisism #映画評論家きどり

April 2024: Ruth & The Green Book @ The Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum It’s always so exciting to introduce Ruth and the Green Book to students! We performed scenes from the production and gave brief educational talks. I had the opportunity to tell students about the history Green Book, along with the painful legacy of Jim Crow and of the systematic exclusion of many African American veterans from programs like the G.I. Bill. My amazing colleagues, Greg Hunter and Judah Norman, covered topics including the World War II, Military Service, and practical considerations for African American Interstate travel during The Green Book era. “My Cousin Rachel” by Daphne du Maurier is a book I wanted to read after I read about a fictionalized version of the author in the book called “Bloomsbury Girls.” I haven’t read her most famous book, which is “Rebecca,” but this is the one I wanted to read, and boy, what a joyride it was. I absolutely adored it. I regret picking it up so late; it was readable and went by quickly. The ending was explosive; it had me gasping and exclaiming out loud. Philip is adopted by his older cousin Ambrose, who raises him as a son on his large estate in Cornwall. They live in a household consisting entirely of men (no women, not even in the staff). Ambrose never plans to marry, so it is given that Philip will inherit the estate. As Philip approaches his mid-twenties, Ambrose’s health starts to deteriorate, and he goes to the sunnier climate of Florence to escape the wet winters. Soon Philip gets the news that Ambrose has married their distant cousin Rachel in Florence. Later, Ambrose begins sending letters that showcase something is amiss; he is either losing his mind or something else is afoot. Philip travels to Italy, only to be informed Ambrose has died and Rachel has left. When Philip returns to Cornwall, soon after, Rachel follows and is invited to stay, which is when things get even weirder. The book is atmospheric, suspenseful, and has the reader trapped in her web of mystery and intrigue. Loved it. Recommend it wholeheartedly!!!
