This was good! I think Stieg Larsson laid the foundations for David Lagercrantz to pick up the characters and storylines pretty easily though - Blomkvist and Salander are pretty epic and very complex so there’s loads of scope for sequels. I’m just annoyed with myself that I didn’t realise there was a whole other book between the last one I read and this one! 📖 Book Review - Book 14/80 📖 I finished listening to The Girl in the Eagle’s Talons by Karin Smirnoff on Monday. Gosh, I’m so conflicted about how to review this book, so I will do it in two parts: as a standalone book and as part of a series. As a standalone, I think this book is enjoyable to read. The characters are understood, and the storyline is suspenseful and pulls the reader in. Smirnoff does a great job not leaving any plot holes, and its ending makes sense. As part of the Millennium series? It was a huge letdown. As the books have continued from Larsson to Lagercrantz and now to Smirnoff, we’ve seen a decline in the books, in my opinion. When it switched to Lagercrantz, I was nervous about the transition, but it was seamless, and I could only tell the difference in a few bits. With Smirnoff, it was completely different. Lisbeth Salander’s character, which I have grown to love, was completely different. She went from this standoffish, mysterious young woman who prefers to work alone to a flirtatious, funny, involved character that completely goes against what we have known in the previous six books. It was like reading about a stranger. In addition, the book focuses a lot on love interests and the inner thoughts on relationships for Blomqvist and Salander. 📖 Book Review - Book 10/80 📖 Last week, I finished reading The Girl Who Lived Twice by David Lagercrantz. This novel is the 6th book in the Millennium series that began with books written by Stieg Larsson. Unfortunately, this was my least favorite book in the series. This novel follows two different stories, one about an old beggar found dead and the other about Lisbeth tracking down those who’ve wronged her. I found the story about the beggar to be sort of lackluster and dull compared to the airlines previously written by the two authors. However, I will admit that it is technically executed with no plot holes and questions left unanswered. The only satisfying part of this book is Lisbeth finally getting revenge on the remaining people who have made her life hell. Yet, it felt so anticlimactic; I expected so much more than the ending we had all anticipated. 29 września 2023 roku skończyłem czytać czwarty tom serii Millenium. Po blisko pół roku wróciłem do serii i 17 marca 2024 roku zacząłem czytać książkę pt. "Mężczyzna, który gonił swój cień", autorstwa Davida Lagercrantza. Początek książki bardzo mnie wciągnął, gdyż już pierwszego dnia przeczytałem 150 stron (tj. 1/3 tytułu), jednak później coś złego stało się z tą powieścią. Mam wrażenie, że to, co na początku było bardzo dobre, gdzieś się zagubiło. Jednak po kolei. Lisbeth Salander trafia do więzienia. W tym miejscu odwiedza ją jej dawny kurator Holger Palmgren, który opowiada jej, że w jego ręce trafiły stare dokumenty, które mogą rzucić nowe światło na wczesne dzieciństwo Lisbeth. Niestety Palmgren ginie, a dokumenty, które posiadał zostają utracone. Do akcji wkracza jednak Blomkvist, który po raz kolejny trafia na bardzo dobry temat, który poniekąd podsuwa mu Lisbeth. Znów znajdujemy się w środku niesamowitych zdarzeń, lecz mimo wszystko akcja i napięcie gdzieś umykają, dlatego pozostałe strony nie czytały mi się tak dobrze jak sam początek historii. Powieść ta to 420 stron, na przeczytanie których potrzebowałem sześciu dni i ośmiu posiedzeń. Wynik ten plasuje "Mężczyznę, który gonił swój cień" na 89 miejscu wśród 264 książek Przeczytanych Na Tronie. Oczywiście polecam tę część jak i całą serię Millenium a przeczytałem już 5 części. I was really interested to read book 7 of the Girl With The Dragon Tattoo series. After Stieg Larsson’s death, David Lagercrantz took over for books 4 to 6 and, although not as brilliant as the first trilogy, did a pretty good job. Karin Smirnoff has now taken over for book 7. It’s great being back with such strong characters and it captures the feel instantly of the previous novels. The story is initially gripping but I felt the ending didn’t quite work. Interested to see where book 8 might go though. 📖 Book Review - 9/80 📖 At the beginning of March, I finished the fifth book in the Millenium series. The Girl Who Takes an Eye for an Eye by David Lagercrantz wasn’t my favorite of the series, but it was still a good read. While in prison, Lisbeth uses her various skills to find a way to access her sanctuary, the internet, to discover some things about her past. With help from Mikael Blomkvist, they work both inside and outside the walls of the prison to expose all the secrets from an experiment conducted on twins when Lisbeth was a child. On the other side of their private investigation, those involved with this experiment work hard to keep their research and lack of ethics hidden from the world. 📖 Book Review - 8/80 📖 At the end of February, I finished reading The Girl in the Spider’s Web by David Lagercrantz. This is the fourth book in the Millenium series, and Lagercrantz assumed the role of continuing the series, which I am incredibly grateful for. I was initially nervous about seeing different styles, but the transition was flawless, and I couldn’t tell the difference between the two authors. This novel is incredible and allows the reader to delve into the mind of a hacker and see the intricacies of the computer world. We also see another side of Lisbeth and Mikael as they work tirelessly to protect a young boy with autism and savant syndrome who excels in drawing with extreme precision and mathematics. I read this book as quickly as my work hours allowed, and you should too! Samuel har aldrig accepterat det fullt ut och när en kvinna som ser ut som Claire dyker upp på ett semesterfoto vänder han sig till professor Hans Rekke och polisassistent Micaela Vargas för att bringa klarhet. Det leder dem tillbaka i tiden och en del minnen berör dem även personligen. Jag fastnar inte helt fullt men ändå en trevlig lässtund där samspelet mellan Rekke och Vargas är den största behållningen. Och när Rekke visar sin speciella förmåga glimrar det till! {ανιѕ ℓє¢тυяє} ⭐⭐,5/5 Bien le bonjour la communauté #bookstagram 😍 Aujourd'hui je vais vous parler du 6e tome de la célèbre série : Millénium, écrit par David Lagercrantz 😌 Je suis une grande fan de la première trilogie Millénium écrite par Stieg Larsson et j'ai eu beaucoup de mal à laisser tomber les personnages. Quand David Lagercrantz a repris la série, j'étais à la fois heureuse et sceptique. La fille qui devait mourir sera le dernier que je lirai 😒 L'auteur nous embarque en Suède où le corps d'un sans-abris est retrouvé dans les rues de Stockholm. La médecin légiste est intriguée, pas de papiers d'identité, seulement un numéro de téléphone dans les poches du défunt : celui de Mikael Blomkvist. Tout fait penser à une overdose et pourtant, la médecin n'y croit pas... Avec l'aide du journaliste, elle va enquêter afin de confirmer ses soupçons de meurtre... 👀 Ah, il n'y a pas à dire, on est loin des trois premiers livres de Stieg Larsson. Tout en substance, en nuances et où presque chaque point était développé pour mieux nous immerger. Il faut cependant être honnête, la tâche de David Lagercrantz n'est pas aisée. Reprendre une série avec toutes ses spécificités, son succès me paraît un défi de taille. En toute sincérité, j'ai oublié les tomes 4 et 5. Tandis que les trois premiers me sont mieux restés en mémoire 🤔 Il m'a été difficile de me replonger dans les vies de Lisbeth et de Mikael. Je ne savais plus ce qu'ils avaient traversé. Je ne savais plus où ils en étaient. J'ai aimé l'enquête que nous propose l'auteur, comme une sorte de diversion, si je puis dire. Ça m'a permis de ne pas me sentir trop perdue aux côtés de Lisbeth et de Mikael. Ce meurtre déguisé en suicide est intrigant. La plume de l'auteur est fluide et bien qu'elle manque de développement, c'était plutôt agréable à écouter 🎧 Voilà pour les point positifs. Par la suite, j'ai commencé à me perdre dans les explications un peu trop... politiques que l'auteur sert au lecteur. J'ai eu du mal à faire le rapprochement entre le sans-abris (un ancien sherpa) et tout le toutim politique. ✨️ Suite en commentaire ✨️

Larssona zawsze czytam z sentymentu dla tamtej trylogii, która wywarła na mnie olbrzymie wrażenie. Nie inaczej jest z pozycją "Ta, która musi umrzeć". Książkę czyta się dobrze, zaciekawią czytelnika od pierwszych stron, niestety daleko jej do poziomu dzieł S. Larssona. Na plus mogę za to dodać, że dzięki niej dowiedziałam się o istnieniu tzw. The series were published posthumously after Larsson passed away in 2004. I thought there would be no more in the series. Recently, I found out that David Lagercrantz has continued the series, and I picked up The Girl in the Spider’s Web at @bookxcess . In Lagercrantz’s continuation, Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist unravel a gripping tale involving cybercrime, artificial intelligence, espionage, and government corruption. The technology in this fourth book has evolved too, moving from PDA (does anyone still remember this? 😆) to laptops and there are even mentions of Instagram. What captivated me most was Lisbeth’s character - a punk-looking, angst-ridden, and antisocial hacker. I always enjoy reading about strong female characters. The Girl in the Spider’s Web not only brings fresh elements to the series but also explores the timeless themes of guilt, surveillance, and the twisted logic of our world. Długo się zbierałem by rozpocząć przygodę z kontynuacją sagi „Millennium”. David Lagercrantz to zupełnie inny styl pisania niż Stieg Larsson. David jest zdecydowanie bardziej treściwy. Czy to dobrze? Nie mi oceniać. Jestem wielkim fanem postaci Lisbeth Salander i Mikaela Blomkvista, więc niezależnie od autora po prostu chciałem poznać ich dalsze perypetie. Jest ciekawie, jest klimatycznie no i przede wszystkim jest to skandynawski kryminał. Mi więcej do szczęścia nie trzeba.
