En 1 año pueden pasar bastantes cosas No prometo absolutamente nada en 2 meses, que igual si existe una etapa de definición se puede llegar a un cambio visual significativo. Pero cuando hablamos de un objetivo competitivo a largo plazo, y lo que buscas es eventualmente estar listo para competir... Eso toma mucho tiempo, ya la periodización no es en 2 semanas y vemos que pasa. Además el objetivo ya no es solo la mejoría de la composición corporal, sino también todo lo que en consecuencia te termina llevando a eso, con eficiencia y cuidando tu salud (adquisición de hábitos base, mejoría de la relación con la comida, aprender las habilidades necesarias para maximizar el progreso en el gimnasio, etc.), porque el objetivo no es solo el físico, sino practicar este deporte de forma longeva y sin joderte la salud a largo plazo. Aunque yo no voy a pintar el camino de rosas, puede ser muy lindo el proceso, y lo es, pero esto requiere de comprometerse a fases duraderas y desafiantes, que a veces realmente te ponen a prueba, tanto a físico como a nivel mental. Eventualmente eso te lleva a desarrollarte como atleta, aprendiendo así todas las lecciones necesarias como para que competir, sea una consecuencia natural de todo el desarrollo integral como atleta y persona, que te llevo a poder darte ese lujo. Hoy Santi es mucho más "classic" que hace un año, ya sacamos muchas conclusiones de como ha ido respondiendo al pasar los meses, los aciertos, los errores que hemos tenido. Y ahora estamos encaminados a una etapa de off-season incluso más exitosa que la del año pasado. Disclaimer: la última foto es del peak del volumen. Importante saber esto porque la forma más realista de determinar si ocurren cambios es comparando fotos con similar % graso. First In-person check-in with @__mattday 4 weeks out from @ukdfba NBW Classic, Men’s Physique First Timers. 😮‍💨 Absolute pleasure to finally meet Matt in person. He originally joined the team in 2023 wanting to prep for juniors last year but with very short notice. I urged him to be patient and shoot for this year instead and I’m so glad we did. Sure we can’t qualify for juniors anymore, but the final package will be a lot more competitive now, even first timers open. There’s so much more that goes into a successful prep than just getting shredded and simply hopping on stage. ‘Every phase has a function, but every phase has a trade off.’ ‘The function’ of an off-season is to maximise hypertrophy to increase future competitive potential. To facilitate this, the energetically costly process of muscle protein synthesis (MPS) is best supported with a controlled energy surplus. However, given daily energy expenditure varies considerably, the precise magnitude of the surplus is constantly changing. Therefore, it is wise for the committed trainee to implement an energy intake of sufficient magnitude to ensure the majority portion of their off season is spent within a productive surplus. This means some days muscle mass will be accrued more exclusively, and on other days some fat gain may occur. As above, the ‘trade off’ of this phase is fat gain. Hence, our overall goal is maximizing hypertrophy, whilst attenuating fat gain. See below for considerations👇👇 💪Ensure training variables are well controlled. Resistance based training is the most potent stimulus for muscle gain. Fat cells are more sensitive to storing calories than muscle. This exemplifies the importance of high quality training stimulus to ensure preferential storage of energy/protein in muscle. 💪 Manage your surplus appropriately. The Ideal magnitude of energy surplus is highly individual. Generally novice/intermediate athletes benefit from a larger surplus as the magnitude of adaptation per unit of training exposure exceeds that of an advanced athlete. 💪Ensure sufficient protein. Compared to non-training populations, bodybuilders have increased protein requirements. 💪Protein distribution. An essential consideration for optimising muscle protein accrual. Longitudinally, this may translate to increased muscle accrual. 💪Be patient! Rushing the process with an excessive energy surplus will likely result in unnecessary fat gain. Currently deep in this push up, sitting at 103kg. I am a touch more ‘cuddly’ than my previous progress shots from Jan. However, I am OK with that, as this body composition serves a specific purpose within this phase. From here, we will continue to push up another ~1kg over the next 6-weeks ahead of a pre-prep for 2025 🤝💪. #BKconditioning

YOU VS YOU A concept you hear a lot in bodybuilding. The goal to bet your previous best. Where I stand by this and do agree we always want to improve on previous outing. However I also feel we get caught up in then thinking what you had achieved before maybe wasn’t good enough. Every prep is different and you will always face different challenges along the way. Which can sometime lead you maybe not beating the previous best. That’s why I think no matter what you should always be proud of the achievements you have previously showcase. As long as you know you did everything within your power to achieve that look, then take it as that look was the best you could deliver. Transformation Alert From high bodyfat to muscular human.....@toocoolsupu works really hard to achieve this physique. He was not a beginner when he came to me. He was in pretty decent condition as you can see in the above picture. His mindset was pretty much clear when we started, he knows WHAT he wants and how much discipline and hardwork it is gonna demand.....only thing he didn't know was HOW. We never focused on his bodyweight because that was not our goal to reach a certain number. He was approximately 73kg before we started his quantified nutrition and workout and now he is around 68-69kg with more muscle mass, less bodyfat, he hit his new PRs in lifting during that phase and now his goal is to put on as much muscle as he can in the next one year. He knows how hard it is to gain muscle and how hard we have to train for that, so we are already excited for his new phase in bodybuilding. The reason why I am writing all this here is just to let you know that whatever you guys want from yourself is on the other side of your comfort zone. It is simple but it's not that easy to build a great physique. It simply means that you've to level up your efforts once you reach your first milestone and so on. THE END OF THE OFFSEASON OCTOBER 2023 ➡️ FEBRUARY 2024 🫱🏻‍🫲🏼 Here's my progress this year so far behind the scenes. I'm still working relentlessly hard whilst working round Three Jobs during that time before going full time to my personal training and online coaching business! The time frame difference 22 weeks between both photos from the Most Muscular shot A lot of solid amount of quality size added in the right areas in Chest, Shoulders and Arms which was the main focus to balance my dominating legs. During the past 22 weeks of the remainder of my offseason, which consisted of ⬇️ - Structure routine in training and diet - Start point calories 2,400 kcals / End point calories 3,950 Kcals Strength and training performance increase - Noticeable changes on certain bodyparts that were weak but no longer the case. - Gained 16lbs during the time frame in the right areas. - Best ever position before starting a contest prep, thanks to my coach Matt Berry on a fantastic structured offseason during our timeframe. I'm now looking forward to seeing what we can bring under our 2nd contest prep season together! I have less than two weeks remaining left till my 3rd Natural bodybuilding contest prep season begins in May 2024, which I will be aiming for the September show in NPA -Natural Physique Association in Coventry & In October time United Kingdom Drug Free Bodybuilding Association - UKDFBA in Coventry. Six more weeks to gain more size until we start to prep for my first ever competition. My coach took some measurements using a caliper today to get an idea where we're at right now (swipe right to last pic to see my stats). Apparently I'm 9.66% body fat 🧐. Really?
