I will not dive into that aspect of the question in this post, but will here list ten meditation benefits, related to our physical health and general well being that are backed by science. They’re not listed in any specific order. Alot of people think yoga is a physical practice. you see this in the industry, as pilates, HIIT, barre and other bodyweight workout styles are paired with it. And you know what? It has it's place. It got me out to yoga, i never would have started if i understood what yoga actually was... i am not trying to say one style of yoga is good and one is bad, but to separate what i teach from what the majority of yoga seems to teach. #thewayoutisin It's uncommon for beginners to be able to calm the mind down, and that is ultimately what yoga seeks to achieve. Because you can't be free, you can't be in unity or achieve moksha without being mentally calm. And you can't be mentally calm or focused on achieving things which you can't see if you're always moving. if your body or vessel is always being used. If you can’t hear the body’s language, then it’s important to notice what’s blocking its natural flow. Possible blocks: ✨Entertaining gossip which harms your mind more than anyone who’s currently the best black sheep. ✨Eating foods that constantly give you feedback you are not digesting them well. ✨Too much or too little exercise. ✨High stress, or low stress tolerance, at home or work (a felt sense that you can’t heal where you are) ✨Passively posting about any health issue (mental or physical) on social media rather than getting a licensed professional for advice and support as necessary. Developing an internal presence with your loved ones and body doesn’t happen overnight and it requires, at times, an uncomfortable amount of honesty imperfectly fostered with a trusted support group or person. 𝓜𝓮𝓭𝓲𝓽𝓪𝓽𝓮. From my hoodie to the beach. I don’t give up easily in life; this my IG name “warrior”… I am someone who gives it all. (So yes I am very late and the #yogachallenge #inhoddie4winter is over) I dedicate this post to my mom - she has been in the hospital for a few days now after breaking her neck . She had a serious surgery two days ago and is now in intensive care. It has been very emotional for me. I felt totally helpless and I wish I could have been by her side. Her wish was that I stay in Mexico 🇲🇽 and not change my plans, but still . One of my favourite ways to meditate is to connect with nature. Go for a walk , listening to the birds and the sound of each step, noticing the colours. Or sitting on silence just gazing at the ocean . I meditate every day. There were some very chilled and grounded -looking people after yoga this morning, and yes, slow flow mindful yoga ….and a nice looooooooonnnnnnnggggggg Shavasana can have that effect. Well, I think I’ve been moving slower since I’ve been studying restorative yoga again with Lizzie and Mary, online. This morning 7am, I found my original notes (and I take a LOT of notes 📝) from my trainings with Lizzie Lasater in 2018 when she visited Melbourne; I went to both of her trainings that year, one to start the year and another to finish the year. Loved every moment. And I’m grateful for my detailed notes that take me right back there. And inspire me to continue my own journey with getting quiet and still and going inwards. “Embodied meditation” I’ve also loved being a participant in Mandy’s (of @justbe_mindfulness) MBSR course which included a whole day of mindfulness in silence together…it was so nourishing to be with a community of fellow meditators, and to be guided with beautiful practices and insights and inquiries….so that inspires my own mindfulness and meditation practice. Haven’t really been working out this week. I worked out once this week. Not going to beat myself up over it though. My body’s been feeling weak lately and not sure if it’s trying to get sick or what not, so I’ve been taking it easy and trying to relax and rest it. Today I woke up did some mediation and then a little yoga flow. Felt good to move my body after not moving it for 3 days. Anxiety & overwhelming emotional states really are a modern day epidemic . Its not rocket science 🚀 as our lives are spent more and more online , hyper stimulated in the brain and increasingly removed from nature and physical daily work , we are setting ourselves up for anxiety. I 've always been prone to insomnia/anxiety and general overthinking 🤔 Which is why no day passes without quite a physical Yoga practice.🙏🧘‍♂️ I've tried every therapy , every technique and some of them definitely helped BUT the only thing that disarms an overwhelmed mind or emotional state is being PHYSICALLY EMBODIED . Yoga very precisely and physically pulls you into your body and redirects scattered energy flows . You should leave the mat with your nervous system re -set & calmed . This is an ancient system it has stood the test of time . There have been different techniques taken from the system and branded , but it works best as a complete system. Yoga prepares the body to be able to sit in meditation and mindfulness states . Look who came over to sit with me in meditation this morning💕 When I first met these two on separate occasions, I was inspired by their energy. The night I met Stan Lee (the little one), he was howling sadly with his guardian out of sight showering. I was dancing in our apartment and started to dance samba-salsa with him. His nose intently followed my arms through several songs, and soon we were bonded! Now he sometimes clings to my shoulders with his paws as we dance throughout the apartment together. Aussie is a massive energy, deeply immersed in the present moment and devoted to following his joy. Transformation is always multilevel, while the nature of exponential growth is a painful lesson. Resiliency and discipline counter balance my eco-anxiety and I dance with it all. I move I pause. It is a blend of diverse flavors. It hurts within every optimistic cell in my body. Extreme change is possible. We are adaptable. Today is International Yoga Day 🧘🏼‍♂️ Observed each year on the 21st June this is a global event that celebrates and promotes the practice of yoga, raising awareness about its many benefits. The word "Yoga" is derived from the Sanskrit root ‘yuj’ meaning "to join", "to yoke" or "to unite", symbolizing the unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between human and nature, and a holistic approach to health and well-being. For all the yoga teachers 🧘🏼‍♀️in my little community, I include a ‘Yoga Class Tip Sheet’ inside each seasonal Meditation Box, with ways to integrate the theme of our box into twelve yoga classes. Let's understand the word, Dharma. The Sanskrit root of Dharma is 'Dhr,' which means to hold or sustain. Thus, Dharma embodies stability and sustainability. The term "Dharma" holds various interpretations, and my personal favourites include universal harmony, life purpose, and soul mission. So, how can you live a dharmic life? Well, it begins with embracing complete integrity, self-responsibility, and harmony. These three elements serve as the key to transitioning from DRAMA to DHARMA. And the path to cultivating these three elements is simple: We use the path of yoga to cultivate a steady and tranquil mind, accessing what lies beyond the realm of the mind and connecting to spirit. Most of the Dramas in our lives arise due to a lack of clarity and mental confusion. When we find ourselves unclear about our desires or true nature, it becomes easier to rely on the opinions of others, giving up our power and losing our sense of direction. However, when we attain clarity, we connect with insight, intuition, and inspiration, begin to live in self-governance, transcend the Drama of life, and align with our true nature. Most "Dramas" occur because we fail to stand our ground. The "Dramas" emerge to challenge us. They trigger us because we are uncertain about our wants and because we have yet to discover our true selves. So, how can you move away from DRAMA and embark on the journey towards DHARMA? So if you want to feel vibrant and healthy in your physical body, start by cultivating the right inner environment for your mind to feel vibrant, healthy and clear. ⁣ Take time to "iron it out" (daily if you can). #meditation Check if your thoughts have been on auto-pilot for too long. When that happens, it's time to put your hands back on the wheel, slow down and find stillness.
