I watched two super hero sequel alternate cuts and here are my thoughts on the two! Superman Man II: The Donner Cut (2006) Director Richard Donner filmed Superman II at the same time as original Superman but was replaced by Richard Lester and all his scenes were replaced in the theatrical cut in 1980. This version felt more serious in tone and more like a proper continuation to its predecessor. What helps this is the originally cut scenes with Marlon Brando returning as Jor-El, which enhances Zod’s imprisonment in the Phantom Zone but also gives more significance to Clark’s sacrifice to be human, which also is one of Christopher Reeves best acted moment to in the franchise. While the movie is still filled with the camp and goofiness we come to know from these films, it’s not as prevalent here and majority of the comedic relief comes with Gene Hackman’s Lex Luther who also gets more screen time. Lastly the romance between Clark and Louis is given more time to expand and overall vastly improved. I am in the camp that this version is without a doubt better than the original and I highly recommend it to all especially those viewing Christopher Reeves Superman films for the first time! Ditch the theatrical and embrace the DONNER CUT! X-Men Days of Future Past: Rogue Cut This cut only adds 17 additional minutes to the film but with it comes the addition of Anna Paquin’s Rogue and additional scenes in both the future and 1973 timelines that to me enhance the already spectacular X-men sequel. While I wasn’t the hugest fan of Rogue’s portrayal in the live action movies, it was nice to she her reunite with Iceman and the original X-men members. Her additional also gives the future Xavier and Magneto more to do as they are the ones who rescue her while also explaining how the Sentinels ultimately fine the X-men during the final showdown. Other than this other sequences are just expand more upon, giving light to the several narratives in the films. While some worked more than others, I can see why they were cut, but ultimately this version still remains on par with the theatrical cut and treat for long time X-men that have been a fan of the series.

X-MEN is a film from 2000 written by David Hayter and directed by Bryan Singer. It tells the story of two mutants who are saved after an attack and join a private academy where the superhero group the X-MEN resident there, who then have to fight against another mutant with similar powers. I love these characters and seeing them in a live action form from this film was awesome. From Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, Sir Patrick Stewart’s Professor X, and Sir Ian McKellen’s Magneto, everybody plays these characters in their true form and don’t disappoint whatsoever. Bryan Singer’s direction in here is solid and the writing is good here from Hayter. It’s a great introduction to a group of characters we haven’t been introduced to in its live action form. X-MEN di Bryan Singer Rivisto di recente questo film mi ha colpito più di quanto immaginassi, in primis per come sia invecchiato davvero bene. Il pregio di questa pellicola è quello di lanciare un universo in medias res senza dare allo spettatore la sensazione di essersi perso qualcosa. Gli X-Men sono un gruppo già formato e rodato e le dinamiche coi loro villain sono già consolidate, ma proprio qui lo sceneggiatore David Hayter fa un ottimo lavoro facendo in modo che tutto questo venga visto dagli occhi di due neofiti: Rogue (Anna Paquin) e Logan (Hugh Jackman). Come noi, anche loro entrano all’interno di queste dinamiche in un momento delicato della storia mutante e, purtroppo, sempre attuale. Mentre le istituzioni premono per far passare una legge sulla registrazione dei mutanti, Rogue, una giovane mutante in fuga, incontra Logan in un bar sul confine canadese. Dopo essere stati attaccati da Sabretooth (Tyler Mane), i due vengono salvati dagli X-Men e condotti alla loro base dove il Professor Xavier (Patrick Stewart) è intenzionato a scoprire e sventare i piani di Magneto (Ian McKellen). La prima cosa che salta all’occhio sono gli interpreti che, a eccezione di qualche differenza fisica, sono fedeli alle loro controparti cartacee. Patrick Stewart e Ian McKellen sono perfetti nei panni di questi due leader e i loro scambi lasciano intuire il passato che li lega e il grande rispetto che tutt’ora li unisce. Lo stesso piano di Magneto è intrigante e ho apprezzato come il tutto si sviluppi intorno a Rogue e ai suoi poteri. Wolverine si fa amare fin da subito, risultando un ottimo co-protagonista e lasciando intuire aspetti del suo passato che ne invogliano l’approfondimento. Peccato che il resto degli X-Men resti più secondario e gli altri villain risultino più macchiettistici. If you are not familiar with the story please note this has spoilers but it’s an older family film from the 90’s and the true story was pretty public. Anyway, the young girl Amy, played by Anna Paquin, ends up being the mother host to a flock of geese. Her father is obsessed with aircraft and he ends up creating them small aircraft’s to teach the geese to fly. What’s even more exciting is she actually teaches to them to fly south. A feel good film overall but such a cool story. The geese even returned to her yard in Canada after the winter. . 原題:The Piano 邦題:ピアノ・レッスン 監督:ジェーン・カンピオン(1994) あらすじ:19世紀半ば。エイダ(ホリー・ハンター)はニュージーランド入植者のスチュアート(サム・ニール)に嫁ぐため、娘フローラ(アンナ・パキン)と1台のピアノとともにスコットランドからやって来る。口のきけない彼女にとって自分を表現できるピアノは大切なものだったが、スチュアートは重いピアノを浜辺に置き去りにし、地主ベインズ(ハーベイ・カイテル)の土地と交換してしまう。(引用) 感想:相手の声を聞くこと。 6歳で言葉にてコミュニケーションをとることをやめてしまったエイダ。ピアノが彼女の声であり魂、もう1人の自分。 そんな彼女の声にじっと耳を傾けてくれたベインズに惹かれてしまうのも無理ないのかもしれない。スコットランドでは追い出されるように写真だけの相手に嫁がされ、荷物同然に浜辺に放り出され。スチュアートには分身とも言えるピアノを置いていかれ勝手に土地と売買され。 自分の声を、ピアノを弾くことで体と魂が一つになって本当のエイダになる姿をちゃんと見てくれるベインズ。 (まあ、取引という形で体に触れる手段は許されるものではなく、不器用さを表しているとしてもわたしは断固受け入れられない部分ではある。でも無理やりでもなく、エイダも最終的に受け入れ、自ら会いにも行くわけだから。。ベインズの人間性を表すための設定かもしれん) ● 妻を見せ物のように、家族さえ手に入れれば幸せになれると思い、テーブルに書いたピアノを弾いてるのを見て頭がおかしいんじゃないかと言うスチュアート。 そこまでピアノを弾きたい。つまりピアノは彼女にとって大事なもの。想像力が圧倒的に足りなかった。 家族が手に入れば、幸せになれると思い込むあたりも、本当に想像力が足りない。この時代の(現代にもまだまだいるとは思うが)代表的な男像。だからなのか、悪役には見えない。この時代にとってはスチュアートの感覚は普通なのかもしれないから。 ● 胸が抉られるような、なんとも言えない映画。でも、見てよかった。一生心に残る気がする。しかもこれが30年前に作られた映画とは思えない。女性監督ならではな気がする。 ホリー・ハンターの強い目力。言葉はなくとも伝わる感情が素晴らしい。ピアノを前にしたときの空気がすっと変わる感じもすごい。 ハーベイ・カイテル。なにか人を惹きつける空気感がうまいなあ〜渋おじ代表の1人。 音楽も素晴らしく、ピアノももちろんすぎる。 自然光だけで撮ったのかな。生い茂った森林や隙間から光が入る家の中、曇り空の浜辺。どのシーンも自然で落ち着いていて、自然な美しさが出ていた。 ● エイダ自身がもしかしたら精神年齢が幼いのかもしれない。フローラのしっかりした部分は、お母さんのためなのかと思う。子供の真っ直ぐすぎる正義が時には仇となるし、残酷でもある。子供って、案外大人のことをすごく見てるんだよねえ。 でも、やっぱり子供だから、見てほしいという一心でキャッキャと走り回る。切なくもなってくる。 ● 今までわたしがお付き合いしてきた方たちは、ちゃんとコミュニケーションとれたのだろうか？わたしの声が聞こえてたのだろうか？ 自分のことがいちばん大好きだった人、自分が全て正しいし上だと思ってた人、第一言語が違った人。 わたしが発してきた言葉は届いてたのかなあ。嫌われるのがこわくて自分の感情を言葉で発せなかったり、わたしの言葉を鼻で笑われたり、明確に通じなかったり。 本当のコミュニケーションってなんだろう。とれてると思い込んでしまいがち。だから途中で苦しくなるんだろうなあ。 もちろん、わたし自身だって相手の言葉にちゃんと耳を傾けられていたかって話だ。空気を読みすぎたりすぐに察したりしてしまうため、言葉ではなく雰囲気だけでコミュニケーションした気になっていたのかもしれない。そりゃ齟齬が出ますよね。 今お付き合いしてる方は、いろいろと自分の弱い部分などを初めて伝えた人。しっかりと聞いてくれた。それだけじゃなく、日頃からわたしの声、言葉をしっかり聞き留めてくれていると感じられる。そしてちゃんと自分の考えを言葉で伝えてくれる。場所とか時間とか、ちゃんととったりしてくれて。 嫌われるのがこわいから言わないというのはやめて、思ったことは早いうちに言おうとわたし自身考え直すようにしたら、変な気疲れが減ったような気がした。 コミュニケーションって、大事(今更だけど！)。 ● 言葉は大事。でも、言葉以外でコミュニケーションを取らざるを得ない人だっている。それならその人なりのコミュニケーションを探して、ちゃんと耳を傾けたい。 そして、自分は言葉をきちんと持ってる人間なのだから、きちんとコミュニケーションをはかりたい。大事にしたい。愛する言葉のためにも、大切な自分や相手のためにも。 ● #piano #janecampion #hollyhunter #harveykeitel #samneill #annapaquin #movies #movie #ピアノレッスン #ジェーンカンピオン #ホリーハンター #ハーベイカイテル #サムニール #アンナパキン #映画 #洋画

She's All That A high school jock makes a bet that he can turn an unattractive girl into the school's prom queen. Starring - Freddie Prinze Jr, Rachael Leigh Cook, Paul Walker, Matthew Lillard, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Paul Walker, Jodi Lyn O'Keefe, Gabrielle Union. I hadn't seen this one for years and saw it while browsing for something to watch last night, so i gave it a watch. Honestly it is such a fun film and it's easy to see why it's a classic teen comedy. The premise is one where we are invested in because we see Zack (Prinze Jr) make a bet with Dean (Walker) that he can turn the unpopular and unattractive Laney (Cook) into the prom queen. So you know there is drama right away as we wonder what will happen when Laney finds out. Honestly it was unexpectedly wholesome, as we as the viewers know what Laney doesn't but can see Zack is actually developing feelings for her and is actually really sweet with her, which was so adorable to see. But it was just so funny too, one of the iconic scenes comes from Brock (Lillard) as he dances at a party to a song that comes on in such a hilarious way. There were so many funny scenes and ones i had completely forgot since i'd last seen it. The cooridnated dance at the Prom was simultaneously funny and actually really good and the song was a 90s classic!. But why i think its became a classic and why 90s romcoms in general were as good is, they had tons of heart. This film definitely did and it gets you invested in the romance between Zack and Laney. Standouts - Freddie Prinze Jr and Rachael Leigh Cook. Their chemistry was really good and it made it a delight for the audience when we see them interact and that incredibly sweet ending!. Bottom line, a cult classic and just a really fun film, even the premise which seems cruel on the face of it fades because we see the genuineness between the characters, so we know how it will end. Rainy day pickups! These were 5 dollars each but were supposed to be reduced at the end of last month so they let me get them for 2.00 each so 6 dollars total.
