This morning didn’t start out great, but I refused to let it affect me and ruin my day. Do you have days when one small thing goes wrong and then suddenly everything else seems to go wrong that day? This is a cognitive bias called Overgeneralising - when one bad thing happens and you let it dictate your whole day & everything seems to go wrong – As @drjulie likes to call it - ‘The Domino Mindset’. Travel day continued. 🫣 So I’m on hour 28 of my travel day now, dropped off on a main street in Ubud. My driver can’t go down my actual street cause it’s been turned into a one way. The traffic and congestion in Ubud is insanity! 🚦🚙🛵 I bag drag my suitcase over broken, dirty and wet road/sidewalk to where my airbnb should be. It’s not. *Thank the heavens i got the SIM card at the airport!!* 😶🌫️ I message airbnb host. She tells me to keep walking. Which way I ask? Up to such and such 😣 It starts to downpour ⛈️💧 I’m standing on a broken sidewalk in a foreign land, getting drenched, with all my worldly possessions, exhausted, mentally burnt out, and just wanna give up completely. 🥺😖 I end up making it to the airbnb. It’s a beautiful home stay. But…there is construction directly outside of my door, from 8-5 every.single.day. These are the realities of full time travel my beautiful friends. It’s sounds glamorous and may look amazing. And a lot of the time it is.
