Last Saturday was World Bipolar Day and it was fitting for Metabolic Mind's "Keto for Bipolar: Stories of Hope" Premiere on YouTube. Why is seeking help by seeing a psychologist for mental illnesses or every problems such a stigma in society? The truth is everyone needs to be sitting on the couch from time to time. Since publishing my memoir and talking openly on my personal Facebook to try and raise awareness I’ve had a few people tell me I’m an inspiration. And that makes me really uncomfortable. I’m just a person with a story. I think it’s worth telling particularly for anyone who thinks that depression is an excuse. I worked full time, walked 5km a day, socialised and it didn’t shift the depression, didn’t stop me trying to end my life. But I never want someone to think they should function at that level when depressed. It wasn’t healthy, wasn’t helpful and isn’t possible for a lot of people. inspirational people may have worse trauma and more success. But they aren’t better, stronger or more worthwhile than the person who is still struggling. I think the hope that stories of people who’ve come through their lowest moments to get somewhere better can give us great, as long as it doesn’t lead us to compare ourselves, and feel worse that we aren’t there. What are your thoughts?

If anyone wanted a sneak peak into my first manic episode! Here it is on paper! This was the notebook I ripped through in about a day or two right before my friend brought me to the hospital. I couldn’t even write the same direction much less in between the lines! I’ve only skimmed through it, but I haven’t taken the time to really dive in and dissect what my brain was really doing or processing. But it sure was A LOT, and very quickly!!! Racing thoughts is one of the tell tale signs of mania along with fast talking and grandiose ideas! I sure had all of the above! I’ve been listening to Brain in Fire, another woman’s detailed, journalism based research through her first episode and diagnosis. I unfortunately don’t have AS MUCH information to piece it together so perfectly, but I have some testimonies and I actually just requested my HR file from the job I had at the time! So, the memoir is coming together, slowly but surely! If you know any editors or publishers, send me a message! Still trying to figure all that out! But for now, I’m just sitting in this...
