🦉2020 Burrowing Owl Athene This wine came highly recommended by the wine shop staff @burrowingowlwinery I hadn't had many Cab/Syrah blends so after a tasting at the winery I decided to pickup this bottle. On the nose there is vibrant notes of red currant ♨️ blackberry , liquorice 🍬 and tobacco leaf 🌿 The palate displays much darker fruit, it presents as developing and quite intense with blueberry 🫐 black plum and graphite ✏️ and vanilla shining through. It also displays notes of charred meat, almost bacon-like 🥓 The wine overall is juicy, bold and full of texture. I definitely could've let this cellar for a few more years. For pairing, I had this with a New York Striploin 🥩 and roasted baby potatoes 🥔 ---------- Technical Specs: • 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 50% Syrah • 14.5% alcohol • 5.8g/L acidity • Both grape varieties were harvested by hand hand then get gravity crushed and co-fermented together.
