Karl Alfred Ratzer (born July 4, 1950, Vienna) is an Austrian jazz guitarist. Ratzer played in rock bands as a teenager and moved to the United States in 1972, where he initially played with High Voltage. He began working in Atlanta in 1973 and played with Dan Wall from 1974 to 1977; following this, he moved to New York City and worked with Bob Berg, Steve Grossman, Bob Mintzer, and Jeremy Steig. He moved back to Vienna in the early 1980s, and worked throughout Europe with Chet Baker, Eddie 'Lockjaw' Davis, Johnny Griffin, Lee Konitz, James Moody, and Clark Terry. He was guest professor at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz from 1999 to 2003, and became docent at the Vienna Music Institute in 2004. Ratzer's cousin is jazz musician Harri Stojka. Percussionist from Savannah Georgia, born on the 24th of February, 1937. Big Black was given this name by an older brother because of his interest in drums. After hearing the conga in Cuban music on the radio during his high school years, he became interested in the instrument and traveled to Florida and the Bahamas, where he spent a total of five years. In the 1960s he moved to New York City, where he played in the bands of Freddie Hubbard (Night of the Cookers) and Randy Weston and was also heard with Ray Bryant, Johnny Barracuda, Junior Cook and Eric Dolphy. In 1965 it was featured in the Caribbean Pavilion at the World's Fair; That same year he performed with Dizzy Gillespie at the Newport Jazz Festival. He received a record contract and released four of his own albums by 1972, some of which also included African rhythms. He was also a member of the Butterfield Blues Band. He later also worked as an actor in supporting roles in films such as Uptown Saturday Night, Blazing Saddles and Minus Man. He continued to play with Sun Ra and BB King, but also recorded with Charles Tolliver and played music during Muhammad Ali 's world championship fight in 1974. In the 1990s he was the musical director of several of Randy Weston's projects. Peter Alexandru Herbolzheimer (31 December 1935 – 27 March 2010 🕊) was a Romanian-German jazz trombonist and bandleader. Herbolzheimer was born to a Romanian mother and a German father in Bucharest, Romania. His family emigrated in 1951 from Communist Romania to West Germany. For one year he studied at the Nuremberg Conservatory. In the 1960s, he played with the Nuremberg radio dance orchestra and with #BertKämpfert's orchestra. In 1969, he formed the Rhythm Combination and Brass big band for which he wrote most of the arrangements. In the late 1970s, the band toured successfully with a 'jazz gala' program with guest stars such as Esther Phillips, Stan Getz, Nat Adderley, Gerry Mulligan, Toots Thielemans, Clark Terry, and Albert Mangelsdorff. I was able to find the 3rd and final variant of this 2010 repress!!!! So stoked to have this in my growing Strongarm record collection. I love this band and this Christian music (and even stacked against secular music) staple is such an important and monumental album. This variant also looks dark like compared to its variant counterpart and when you hold the record up against the sunlight, the colors come out. I included a picture of its true coloration. It really is a beautiful looking record. Released November 1, 2004💿 Lifeblood is their seventh studio album and it’s a GREAT return for the Manics🔥💿 The album is more polished and sonically less distinguishable effort than it’s predecessor, and James Dean Bradfield has just the most incredible voice for this kind of music🤩. Lifeblood got a mixed reception from the UK press and fans alike, and I don’t know why. It’s a hugely underrated album.
