One day I heard a song on @siriusxmoutlaw. And I said who the hell is this? This girl can wail. Immediately bought the album. Then I bought the next. And now preordered the next. We seriously can’t get enough of Morgan Wade @morganwademusic . Just a badass singer from the small Appalachian town of Floyd, Virginia. Thanks to Sadler Varden of Jason Isbell’s band who got her signed. We introduced others including Shane and Angela who met us tonight in Bloomington, Illinois to see her acoustic show, and we booked flights to Tulsa next month to see her and her full band play with Elizabeth Cook opening. @elizabethcookforsheriff Oh, and in November we are seeing her in Charleston, SC. The more things change, the more they stay the same… (You’re welcome, the one person who understood that reference in this context…or I guess I should say “thank you” to the one person who understood that reference in this context…) 🤘 We went on a guided tour of @thepunkrockmuseum today with @robbflynn of @machine_head and it was AWESOME. Machine Head is one of my absolute favorite metal bands of the mid/late ‘90s groove/thrash metal era (which is my favorite metal flavor), along with Sevendust (who we got to see play last night since they’re in town for @sicknewworld), Soulfly, and, yes, Pantera. The first time I heard the album Burn My Eyes my mind was blown and I was hooked. Machine Head is still one of the best metal bands of the last 25 years (IMHO but also fact) and still going strong. I’ve probably seen them close to a dozen times, often touring with some combination of the above bands, and while my music tastes have evolved/expanded exponentially since high school, Machine Head is still one of my all-time faves. SIDEBAR: This was one of my favorite shirts in high school (stolen from an ex boyfriend since I was still just a little too young to have seen this 1993 tour, so its 30 years old and I’ve had it for 27-28 of those years) and there are about 100 actual printed photos of me making this same gesture/face while wearing this shirt. 🤘 Robb was an awesome tour guide; he had SO many stories about so many of the people and bands on display at the museum and has his own long history with them, which was just so cool to hear! It was just so cool to hear the personal stories from someone who is as much of a fan of many of these bands as he is a contemporary of them. Just a super cool dude and an all around fantastic experience. If you are at ALL a punk rock/rock/music fan, taking a guided tour of the Punk Rock Museum is a 10/10 must-do experience! Next I have to buy tickets for @rikirachtman’s upcoming tour… I had to really try not to fangirl dweeb out while taking this photo (still kinda did) but Robb was awesome, a great storyteller and guide, and young teenage me definitely had a moment! 📍 @thepunkrockmuseum | DTLV

2nd April 2024 ~ King of Pop: The Legend Continues featuring Navi the world’s No.1 MJ tribute artist and the legendary Jennifer Batten (live at The Gaiety Theatre, Ayr) Was so excited to hear the MJ tribute had been rescheduled after there being some tech issues when everyone turned up for the show last year…so worth the wait though! And I did have the pleasure of meeting Navi and Jennifer last year so it was an amazing night all the same! Nevertheless, it was truly awesome to finally see Navi perform and oh my goodness does he sound like Michael Jackson!!! It truly was magical watching him perform! My record shelf is currently full so I wanted to make a list of essential artists left to add to our collection, just so I wouldn't get too scattered and impulsively buy random records from every artist I've ever loved. I don't need a large vinyl collection, just an intentional well-thought out one. Ok, so my list is still pretty long and I know I'll eventually need to get a second shelf. But at least I know what sections of the record shop to contain my browsing and enthusiasm in! By the looks of this list, you'd never know I was genuinely dedicated 90s kid. I am, but my soul is obviously several decades older! With that said, I can't wait for our future listening room in our future retro-inspired home.
