Spring crops are rolling and looking great! I had 5 beds with kale and other winter crops that I got cleaned out today, and 2 of them got topped and are ready for summer plants. I still have 3 collards plants on the edge of one bed that I let go to seed to get some more of these heirlooms I got from a patient a few years back that aren't like any other collards I've seen. The @birdiesgardenproducts beds from @epicgardening are hands down the best raised beds you can buy. And filling them with @soil3organiccompost just gives you the best plants you can grow. Hopefully I get the other 3 topped tomorrow then I can get irrigation back in and start planting my peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, zucchini, okra, corn, and flowers this coming week. We have a sale again tomorrow for our tomatoes and peppers, so hopefully we get a lot of those cleared out so they stop taking time to care for. I'm making sure to focus on small areas to avoid the overwhelm that comes with tasks of this nature. . I'm slowly removing as much grassy areas that have to be mowed with larger garden beds to cut back on the maintenance a bit. . What a difference 2 weeks can make! These pictures are 13 days after my post of getting everything potted up and in to the greenhouse and on to the truck. That job took a few days so it's been about 2 weeks for all the tomatoes. Peppers were done a week before. Being that we dense planted the tomatoes, they were very small and buried up to the leaves. A little sun and heat (we moved stuff from the truck to the greenhouse and pulled the biggest ones from the greenhouse out and put them on the truck) can really make these plants grow rapidly. Many are ready to sell now, but the big sale is still a week away! Today I'm going to switch a few trays from the truck back to the greenhouse to get a little extra growth on the ones lagging. All organic and so many varieties! I can't wait to get mine in the ground in the next few weeks

Heartleaf Brunnera ‘Jack Frost’ is a wonderful shade perennial, grown for its shimmering foliage that adds interest in any shady part of the landscape. Prominent green veins on the leaves add striking appearance, with tiny blue forget-me-not flowers blooming throughout Spring. This variety grows into a nice clump, roughly a foot to a foot and a half tall and wide, eventually spreading by rhizome and forming a wonderful shade ground cover. This perennial plant award winner, can take morning sun and filtered light, while thriving in shady landscapes. 👩🏻🌾 GARDEN GIRL IS BACK! 👩🏻🌾 I just know this is the update you all have been waiting on pins and needles for. ITS SUMMER VEGGIE TIME! 🍅🍆🫛🥦🥬🥒🌶️🫑🌽🥕🧅 When I started planning this year's summer veggies, I knew that there were veggies I wanted to do again, and others I wanted to reduce, or try a different variety. When you look at my garden plan, you'll see that I reduced the number of tomato, cucumber, and zucchini plants by half. The cucumber and zucchini were very prolific last year - I only need one of each this year. I also felt like having 4 tomato plants caused them to fight for nutrients - 2 is better. I decided to try a cherry tomato plant and 1 slicer. I felt the variety would be nice. You'll also notice this year I'm trying 2 new veggies - eggplant and snap beans! I've seen others beans do very well, so I thought I'd give them a try. Take note of the rotational planting - when repeat gardening, it's better to plant things in different places than they were last season - this helps to reduce pests and diseases! ☺️ First things first - removing all the dead stuff. Crazy enough, I actually grew 2 heads of lettuce in the offseason (I must be a great gardener, right? 😛) When I started planning the garden and planting yesterday, I was informed that there was a chance of frost last night. I quickly put a halt on planting and used paint bucket inserts and landscaping pins to create frost covers. This morning, all the plants were fine, and I finished up getting everything into the ground. The last picture is just a SAMPLE of all the wonderful things in my garden! Fresh look at the garden. We have the front half cleaned up. Just need to clean out and amend a couple of beds for summer. The back half we finished the rest of the beds for this year. 3 more @birdiesgardenproducts from @epicgardening added. The last spot in the back is occupied by our strawberry patch that we will move this fall. Up front I need 2 long, narrow beds for our arch walkway and we will (or will we?) say the garden is complete. Still a good bit of weeding to do in the back, and the beds still need the soil put on top of the wood chip base, but we should be able to get it ready by the first of May for summer planting.
