Many of the children I have had the pleasure of working with, have always preferred using hands-on activities. They struggle to sit still in a classroom full of children. They always need to be busy doing something , their hands need to be occupied at all times. So this activity would be good for their learning as well as a sensory break option away from the classroom environment, giving them the time out they need. The child I am currently working with loves playing catch, kicking and throwing things and this is one of the activities we complete. We make competitions to throw them into hoops and those they get in the hoop they have to read, but there are many ways in which you can make this activity more fun for the child/children. Let me know your thoughts on this activity. It can be adapted for any age child. Hands on learning is important for all children especially those with special educational needs. This type of learning is better for kinesthetic learners. All the children I have worked 1:1 with have thoroughly enjoyed carrying activities like this above. They are more engaged, enjoy the challenge and want to be involved in their own learning. Anything which is not paper based really. This is also beneficial for young children who are still learning to read and identify the sight words. You can use this at home, in school or take it with you as an activity to complete while having a picnic. Fun all round for everyone. Definitely worth it 👩🏼‍🏫💯. The link to this product is in my linktree, in my bio. Many children will struggle to access the curriculum. This tends to be because there are other needs which need to be met first. One of the children I work with really struggles to do anything when he is feeling hungry (which is completely understandable) and once fed he is more likely to complete the activities set. Children with special educational needs struggle to access the curriculum more often than others due to other needs they may have. Make sure to ask the children or use communication Cards etc to help them to express their needs more easily so you can help them to fulfil these needs. #maslowshierarchyofneeds #manageemotionsforsuccess #manageemotionswell #manageemotions #maslow #stimming #neurodivergentchildrenmatter #specialeducationalneedsteacher #specialeducationalneeds #sensorybreak #sensoryactivity #sensorybreaksareeffective #sensorybreaksforeveryone #sensorytime #sensoryplay #specialneeds #inclusive #inclusionmatters #inclusionintheclassroom #inclusiveeducation #primaryteacher #primaryschoolteacher #parentsofspecialneedschildren #parentsofspecialneedschildrenaresuperheroes #parentsofneurodivergentkids #accessthecurriculum #dysregulated #dysregulationinschool #dysregulationstrategies

The Alphabet Arc is a multi sensory intervention which uses wooden letters of the alphabet to secure or help children to remember the letter sounds and names. It also helps with spelling and syllabification, sequencing and lends itself to practice letter formation. It can be used with children of all ages. This activity set has a selection of activities for you to complete while using the Alphabet Arc. You could ask the child to choose a card so they can have some control of their learning also, making it more exciting for them too complete. Over time, the children will become more confident in their letters and develop their spelling skills. Definitely worth it ❤️👩🏼‍🏫. Having worked with young children with dyslexia, I have had the opportunity of using the Alphabet Arc with them. This is an important resource and intervention for TA's to complete with them. The Alphabet Arc is a multi sensory intervention which uses wooden letters of the alphabet to secure or help children to remember the letter sounds and names. It also helps with spelling and syllabification, sequencing and lends itself to practice letter formation. It can be used with children of all ages. There are many activities you can complete with an alphabet arc. The children could organise the letters into the correct order and then match and order the lower case letters to the capital letters. The children could be asked to identify the vowels from the selection of letters. Could the children make words from the letters in the alphabet e.g.cvc words. Plus many other activities. Over time, the children will become more confident in their letters and develop their spelling skills. Definitely worth it ❤️👩🏼‍🏫. A child with ADHD have their own superpowers, they learn in different ways, they store and process information differently when learning, they navigate through their days in a different way. Billies first day back at pre school today. This year she has moved to a whole new building, different classroom with different teachers and a different class of children. She took this morning all in her stride, even walking a different route to what she is used too and she smashed it. She did get a little flustered as it was very busy when waiting to go in the class but she did super well considering. I felt nervous for Billie this morning. I’m not sure why- maybe because things are a little different this year. She isn’t allowed her dummy (which I totally understand) or her Zeze so I was worried what she would do if she got upset. After all, her teachers are new & they don’t know her. I did pack her Zeze though … just in case. #autism #autismawareness #autismacceptance #parenting #parentingautism #autistic #actuallyautistic #autisticgirl #autistictoddler #nonverbalautism #gdd #globaldevelopmentaldelay #spd #asd #parentsofspecialneedschildren #send #sendparents #neurodivergent #neurodiversity #autismblog

Another post stolen🙈 but I have never resonated with something more. I feel that all Mothers & Fathers feel this way, SEND parents or not but for some reason, nobody feels that it can be said out loud. @fruitsofmotherhood I can be quite an anxious person anyway at times but when I take the children out, especially if I’m solo parenting, my anxiety spikes! However, I must say I am a lot more confident with my youngest when out in public than I am with Billie. I think it’s because I can never predict Billie and how she will react to different experiences, people, places & unfortunately I do always have that worry in the back of my head of what other people are going to think or say or even those dreaded looks that they can give …. If your a SEND parent, I know you know exactly what look I’m talking about! #autism #autismawareness #autismacceptance #autismmom #autismblog #parenting #parentingautism #nonverbalautism #send #parenttospecicalneedkid #autisticmemes #autistictoddler #autisticgirl #gdd #globaldevelopmentdelay #spd #sensoryprocessingdisorder #parentsofspecialneedschildren #neurodivergent #neurodiversity #actuallyautistic

Now, I could get all technical and talk about the many roles of the SLP, like completing the Desired Results Developmental Profile for preschool students or case management for kiddos with only an SLI eligibility status… but that's not what's important here.🙅‍♀️ You know what is? When parents come to me and ask what my role is for their child and more specifically, "How can I help my child with communication challenges?"🤗 It’s so heartening to hear parents express a willingness to collaborate because it means we're in this together, baby!👩‍👦‍👦 So, without further ado, here are some tips for working effectively with your child's SLP: • Communicate Regularly: Regular communication with your child's SLP is essential for keeping track of your child's progress and ensuring that their needs are being met. Work with your SLP to establish a communication plan that works for both of you. • Ask Questions: Don't be afraid to ask questions about your child's treatment plan, goals, and progress. Understanding the process can help you feel more confident in your child's care. • Work Together: Collaborate with your child's SLP to identify strategies and activities that you can do at home to support your child's progress. • Be an Advocate: Advocate for your child's needs and work with your child's SLP to ensure that they are receiving the support they need to succeed. It's time to take action and give your little ones the extra support they deserve. Understanding the role of an SLP in the special education system is crucial for parents of children with speech and language impairments. But don't worry, I've got your back! By working closely with your child's SLP and following these tips, you can help ensure that your child gets the support they need to thrive.👩‍👦‍👦 So, let's get started! Head to the link in my bio and sign up for a free consultation today!🎉 And if you have any questions about the role of the SLP in the school setting, don't be shy, slide into my DMs!💬📩 #specialeducation #slp #speechtherapist #parentsofspecialneedschildren #roleofslp #stayinformed #thediabeticslp

Parents of children with special needs often feel overwhelmed and uncertain about available resources. At Nayi Disha, we want to provide the best assistance possible. We organized a 2-day help desk at Arunaabh Special School to answer common questions and provide information about services that benefit families. Over 25 parents attended the event and received the support they needed. We provided information on UDID application, Learning Disability Certification, helpline services, and Govt. Schemes like Niramaya Insurance and Income tax benefits. We also introduced parents to Nayi Disha parent community and its importance. Our help desk provided fact sheets, posters, helpline details, and answered questions asked by parents. @arunabhinclusiveschool #specialneeds #parentsupport #nayidisha #disabilityrights #parentsofspecialneedschildren #specialneedsupport

Baby boy, Aden Lee, Buddy, Aden the Boy, you've had quite the year. It's been challenging and difficult for you, but you've worked so hard to overcome and be the sweet boy we love! We're going to keep working to help you grow and share your awesomeness with the people who don't yet know YOU! You love the hardest, and you're so smart. I can't believe we've made it this far already, but Daddy and I are so proud of you and will keep fighting for you and helping people learn how to understand you better and see what we see in you. Happy 9th birthday, our sweet boy! We love you so much! #adenlee #teamadenlee #happybirthday #parentsofspecialneedschildren
