First time Pickling Cukes 🥒🫙 - properly. I used 1 cup spirit vinegar, 1 cup distilled water and a teaspoon of Indian pickling spices. The fennel and onion seeds were overpowering, so next time I'll mix my own spices as opposed to using the pack I bought. The texture could do with more crunch, but I knew that using supermarket Cukes would do that lol. All in all, I am happy with my experiment. 🎊🎉😄

British Crab and Pickled Cucumbers on our Homemade Sourdough Crumpet 🦀 🥒 this was my favourite dish to serve at our March Supper Club over at @skcsupperclubs last night, and I still can’t get over how delicious these cucumbers were from @harmlessmarket 😱😋 these pickled cucumbers are a great addition to many cold seafood dishes, and can be added to bagels, sandwiches… or on top of a crumpet! The base for the pickle juice is super straight forward: just simmer 50/50 water and your choice of vinegar with 1 tbsp per 150mls of total liquid for around 5 mins. The vinegar choice is up to you, I used a good quality white wine vinegar here, but most vinegar will do the trick (I’d maybe advise against a strong ACV as the powerful flavour may kill any taste from your veggies). Take off the heat and add in some whole peppercorns. You can pour on top of your cucumber ribbons while hot, however it will cause them to lose their vibrant green colour, so I waited until the liquid was totally cooled, and then gently poured it into a containers with the veggies. Add in herbs of your choice (I went for chopped dill) and leave in the fridge for at least 24hrs. Serve as you like! These are also a great addition to salads, or eaten straight out of the jar 🤷🏻♀️🙌🏼💚🌸 #organic #pickledcucumbers #supperclub

The recipe was sound, calling for two cups of sugar. I used 1.5 instead, the end result was good. If I make this again I’ll use one cup of sugar only. Next time it will be pickle spears. Yay for Spring! My garden is finished! Some are plants and some are seeds. Varieties of lettuce, kale, pickled cucumbers, tomatoes and a variety of herbs. The last pic, I recently saw a gardening video where someone bought these neat shaped plastic planters at dollar tree. They planted flowers or something else in them.
