A new logo for A Fichu Turning. A word from our director There are various definitions for the French word fichu that can translate into ruined, wrecked, unpleasant, nasty or damned. The word can also mean a headscarf or a shawl. In our logo, we find a hand in ASL hand shape “F”, a symbol for the word Fichu. In this case we have the hand turning on itself indicating that that which was fichu is being transformed; altered from experience into art and given a plurality for its moral representation. The Fichu is turning. The conception changes. What was once deficiency or disability; what was once nasty and unpleasant becomes something new. Becomes something different. Becomes a scarf. BLESSED BY THE WEIGHT OF A PROMISE Do you remember falling off the edge of a thought into that nameless, endless viridian lagoon? Do you remember afterward how I held you in the liquid firmly, floating vertically with our toes dipped one inch into the bottom’s murky sand? Rippling waters framed our faces, whose upward gazing braided into one force searching the cosmos. Do you remember choosing to leave the waters, allowing air to dry our skin, goosebumps signaling our sensitivity to teachings of a subtle breeze? And how we both then chose to go in separate directions and feel our way through that novel world, each alone. I found layers for warmth and a smooth stone to put in my pocket to remind me: I am blessed by the weight of an ancient promise to love whatever world I wake up in — to receive it with sober eyes, respond with warm hands. Have you ever met someone who you felt an instant connection with? It’s almost like you knew each other already, but at the same time… you didn’t know them at all. Pay attention to these people. Often times there’s a lesson in their sudden appearance and/ or disappearance from your life. These are past life connections sent to help you close out a karmic cycle that maybe you’ve failed to learn from lifetime after lifetime. These lessons commonly center around abandonment fears, control issues, self-worth, or authenticity. When you learn the lesson, you complete the soul contract and you’re free to reach new heights. You heal yourself, your ancestors, and your future lineage. This person will either disappear completely (if they’re a karmic) or become part of your soul tribe for life (if they’re a soulmate). If you fail the lesson, it will repeat with another person or situation until you finally learn. Soul contracts can’t be broken so whatever life is teaching you right now, it’s better to face it than run. It’s all happening for your highest good.
Doubt can be a powerful force that undermines confidence and belief in oneself. When we allow doubt to dominate our thoughts, it can create a self-fulfilling prophecy where we expect failure before even attempting something. Instead,it’s important to cultivate a mindset of positivity and resilience, focusing on what can go right rather than what might go wrong. By replacing doubt with determination and optimism, we empower ourselves to pursue our goals with confidence and increase the likelihood of success. “Love, I’m Trying” Let me be honest… I think there’s something you should know, But the lover in me gave up on finding the “one” a long time ago. I had worked a double bartending (12+ hour shift) and got cut early enough to make it to a concert. Did I go home and rest my bones?
