Double run day! I did my speed workout first and then ran with my son. The speed workout was mile repeats, here is the breakdown: 2 miles warmup 3 x 1 mile at 6:55 pace with 400 easy run recovery The run with my son was basically my cooldown. I felt pretty good, last mile was at 6:40. I don't have a race lineup so I'm trying to stay consistent and make small gains each week. Running in the Sonoran Desert was such a treat! The cold mornings, warm days, and dry air was a perfect combination for exploring the trails. The landscape was very different than the Sedona Trails up north and completely new for me. My first taste of Desert running did not disappoint and I can’t wait to bring my daughter here when she’s old enough to run!

New Route and Club Guidelines!! 📍🏃🏽♂️ - As more people begin showing up, and as the weather gets warmer, we decided to update the route and highlight some guidelines for our runners. - NEW ROUTE The new route still starts and ends at Skysong (address in 2nd slide). There is plenty of parking all around the Skysong campus (dotted box in slide 2) but the two main crossroads are easiest. The only change is we will not be running along McDowell given the traffic and frequent stoplights. Based on feedback we will decide which route works best! - GUIDELINES As more people show up, it’s important to create some guidelines to keep everyone safe and happy! #1 Be mindful of your surroundings #2 Meet 1 new runner each week #3 Be prepared! - As we run near roads, and on shared paths it’s important to be aware of surroundings to be courteous and safe. Since we’re a social running club, it’s important to try and meet new people each week! Obviously not required but highly encouraged! Always remember to be respectful and kind! As the weather heats up it’s important to be prepared! We will try to provide water on hot days but it’s important to stay hydrated before, during, and after the run. Be a moving course marshal and provide gentle encouragement and support to all our girls along the run. A Sparkle Runner is an adult female who runs the 5K and cheers on all of our girls as they head towards the finish line! No excuses... I was not feeling well this morning (slight headache, tired, not motivated) but the fear of regret got me up and going! Doing a speed workout feeling like that is not ideal but I didn't want to fall behind on my training. At the middle of the workout I got a sharp pain on the left side of my abdomen and considered stopping a few times but (again) the fear of regret kept me going. I was able to complete the workout and that feel of "I did it" felt great (even though I wanted to puke 😜). Here is the breakdown: 2 miles easy running 400m at 7:00m pace with 200m recovery 800 at 6:50m pace with 400m recovery 1 mile at 6:50m pace with 800m recovery 800 at 6:50m pace with 400m recovery 1 mile at 6:50m pace 1 mile cooldown Sometimes fear can help you move forward... I felt pretty good during the tempo miles, I didn't have a pace goal, mostly I wanted to see how fast I could run without losing my form and being able to maintain the pace for 4 miles.
