Thank you for STEPPING IN our lives. To me our #partnership is solid. A #father is one of the most valued persons in a child’s life. Yes I did great as a #singlemother with the tools I had! But you STEPPED in, I don’t know what you thought would happen 🤣🤣🤣 but you did it anyway! You chose us! You have helped teach them how to become a man, something i could never do on my own! I taught them fear and you taught them independence. I taught them how to survive and you showed them what they needed to survive (changing the oil, changing tires, how to drive , how to treat a woman, how to work as a man) I thank everyone for the praises, on how far I’ve came with my 3 boy’s. But I would be a fool to think, I did it alone. And today i wanted to give you your 💐 because you did what their father’s couldn’t or wouldn’t do! We all have stories to tell. Stories we heard, learned as we grew up, stories we witnessed, stories we imagine, and stories that we strive hard to make real. What if we are the story? Women and Warfare in the Ancient World: Virgins, Viragos and Amazons by Karlene Jones-Bley As a self confessed history and mythology lover, I was really looking forward to reading this book. The comparison between the various war goddesses around the world was interesting and I did actually educate myself on some of the more obscure goddesses. However, I was really hoping for more on the non-mythological females contribution to defence of their homes, lands and culture. I fully accept that many cultures female contributions for warfare and defence was tied to caring and defending their homes and lands when the menfolk were off at war. But I would have loved to have read more about any new findings about actual female warriors, possibly misgendered previously. The examples given tended to be very heavily based in Europe and the Middle East. I would have loved to see more from examples from China, the Far East, Maori and Samoan cultures - many of which I'm sure have at least one if not many warrior goddesses. There was some discussion of historical females from the Roman to the medieval and renaissance period but It would have been great to see more of these figures fleshed out a bit more. I know that sometimes this is a challenge as women very rarely got to have a voice or leave records of their achievements but I feel this would really have balanced out the book. When you are the scapegoat, the black sheep and/or the person who has had the most trauma and grief in the family, you are often also considered the joke or the pathetic one according to the toxic family. You are often not taken seriously, your trauma, and your grief is pushed to the way side. Instead of having compassion for you and understanding for you, the family laughs behind your back, smirks in your face, and makes you feel lazy, wrong, and stupid for what they feel you haven’t gotten over or accomplished. Your grief is reduced to excuses. How dare you be so selfish to allow your feelings to cause anxiety and depression. For my daughter. I was lying in bed isolated as I had been the last months, feeling the tightness in my shoulder and tension. I knew I needed to connect but I didn't know with who. I couldn't be in the room. I got a strong desire to go to the beach. It was a windy night, cooler than usual and I knew I needed nature. I could feel she wanted it too. It was something too strong to ignore. I ordered the taxi and not long after found myself slipping the little green turtle Sandals I'd bought for a bargain in the local Oxxo to burying my feet into the sand. The wind was strong, the waves were strong, the cool air refreshing against my face. I sat at the step where we once had sat. Her father and I, and I only tried to remember those good times. The good moments and to think on the future and what would be next. Even though my heart still ached due to his absence and what he had decided to do, at the same time I felt a tingle in my lower abdomen, almost as though she was pleased, satisfied with the location that we had arrived upon, satisfied her request had been fullfilled. That was good enough for me. It was these positive moments I had to hold onto, cherish and create. I wanted to stay longer, but the creepy guy in the orange shirt and black cap standing there awkwardly by the plastic chairs for over twenty minutes before deciding to come sit near me, was definitely my automatic que to stand up and walk back into the light into the streets. I'd go back tomorrow. Maybe I didn't have anyone to connect with at this moment. But I did have the beach and she liked that. En av de største utfordringene er å sette grenser for barnet mitt, vel vitende om at det kan være vanskelig for ham å forstå at de er til hans beste.🌸 Som alenemor bærer jeg hele ansvaret for sønnens oppdragelse. Det betyr å ta alle de vanskelige beslutningene, håndtere alle tantrumsene og sørge for at han har alt han trenger for å trives. I denne rollen er det avgjørende å sette tydelige grenser for at han skal lære disiplin, respekt og ansvarlighet. Men å sette grenser er ikke alltid enkelt. Sønnen min tester dem ofte, og det kan være frustrerende å se ham slite med å forstå hvorfor de er der. Han kan føle seg begrenset, kontrollert eller til og med elsket mindre. Det er viktig å huske at han bare er et barn, og at han fortsatt lærer å navigere i verden rundt seg. Min oppgave som mor er å veilede ham med kjærlighet og tålmodighet. Jeg må forklare ham hvorfor grensene er viktige, og vise ham at de er satt for å beskytte ham og hjelpe ham å bli et godt menneske. Det er en kontinuerlig prosess med kommunikasjon, positiv forsterkning og konsekvens. Selv om det kan være vanskelig å se sønnen min slite, vet jeg at det å sette grenser er avgjørende for hans fremtid. De vil gi ham rammene han trenger for å ta gode valg, respektere andre og lykkes i livet. Som alenemor er det min plikt å gi ham den beste mulige starten, og det inkluderer å lære ham viktigheten av grenser. 2018 divorced my first love and left via DV shelter with my daughter and nephew, due to my safety, started a new relationship. 2019 changed me because I had a baby by my new boo and then he broke my jaw. 2020 broke me down because my grandma and uncle passed away a month apart, while I was pregnant with my son and constantly in the hospital due to abuse and severe blood pressure. Not to mention COVID caused me to lose my job. 2021 opened my eyes when I had my 3rd child by him and he kept abusing me and threatening my life. He then broke my ribs so I moved my kids out of town to start a new life via another DV shelter. 2022 prepared me because I gave my life to God and started taking my business seriously. 2023 walked into my purpose because I finally wrote a book about my life of abuse and overcoming the victim mentality! 2024 standing on every promise as I published my first novel on Barnes and noble website! Alongside continuing to expound on my craft in the hair industry. I had a successful book launch and am planning a tour and much more to come for me and my babies.
