Gaelic words and typography. During the clearing out and stripping back of the Small Mission Hall, I also found a few of these old Bibles and book of Psalms. Not surprising as this was an old Church Mission Hall. Some were in Gaelic, others in English. Clearly these would have been a significant part of the buildings heritage. Words and typography are beautiful, I’ll definitely be finding a way to incorporate these in some way into the design narrative moving forward. Feel free to like and share. Mullach Bi is the third highest hill on Hirta, and rises like a rock fin to 358m above the island's western coastline. The dramatic cliffs tower above the sea, giving it a presence that belies it's modest stature. The rocks that comprise the west of Hirta are the older, harder gabbros. They are distinguished from the softer eastern granite by their dark grey colour and more angular shape, which gives this side of the island it's jagged profile. These photos were taken yesterday from the north and south, with Mullach Bi looking majestic in the soft light of the setting sun.

🌟Community Investment Fund- The Falmadair Trust awarded £13,775 🌟 The Falmadair Trust has received a Community Investment Fund grant of £13,775 for the renovation of the Sgoth Jubilee, previously renovated in the 1980s and then again in 2006. She is once again in need of major works, due to her age and all year open-air use. Sgoth Jubilee is the last of the North Lewis dipping-lug boats built as a working craft in 1935 by John Finlay Macleod, who took the rope ashore from the wreck of the Iolaire. ▫️An Sùileachan▫️ 'An Sùileachan' (the lesson) is a monument and meeting place, designed to reflect on historical and local events, including the Lewis land clearances and more recent Scottish land law reforms. It acts as a view point and a focus for local, cultural events. A celebration of island craftsmanship, the walls are constructed of stone from nearby ruined cottages, the iron fire-basket was made by a local blacksmith and the seating crafted from local windblown trees. Just going back to the Outer Hebrides briefly (and if only we could!), I wanted to mention how warm and friendly every single person we met there was; whether local or travelling themselves. Every one of them contributed to the pleasure of our time on the islands. I do have to mention one in particular though, @tonybonning and his horse Chief. Tony is a Scottish folklorist, writer and storyteller, travelling the length of Scotland by hoof to raise money for The 3Rs Horse Rescue Centre Charity. When we met him, he was travelling the length of the Western Isles, stopping at schools to tell his stories - oh to be a child again and be in one of those schools! We had a brief chat with Tony on the road and he kindly let us take his photo - although Chief rather stole the show - what a star!
