Imens bor Dominik sammen med Lauralynn og har skrevet en bog om Summer. Summer bliver tilbudt at spille med et rockband, som hun kommer på turné med. When people hear "revolution" today, the connotation is the violent overthrow of the establishment (himagsikan). In reality, there are more ways than one to fully articulate this strange term. In Filipino, revolution is pag-inog. Pag-ikot. As Sarah Geronimo @justsarahgph puts it, "Ikot ikot lang." Our planet revolves around the sun. Planes and satellites revolve around the Earth. This is also the base meaning of its Latin equivalent, so it seems. That is, revolvō (turn/roll). In Filipino, revolution is pagbabago. Pagsulong. When you say revolutionize, you make things better, yet as opposed to "evolution," in an abnormal pace and a drastic fashion that many do not expect them. We have the "Green Revolution" for agricultural advances. We have the "Industrial Revolution" and the "Digital Revolution" for economic progress. The list goes on. In Filipino, revolution is pag-iisip. Pag-intindi. Pag-unawa. When we internalize, or perhaps agonize even, a decision to be made, it revolves in our mind (umiikot sa isip). The story starts out with Jay, a pilot from the hinterlands, who chooses to help a mysterious thief, Fix, and by doing so, gets swept up in the fight against AVO, a terrifying militaristic aviation monopoly that is gradually taking over countries. Sable, who is Jay’s best friend, has her own motivations that she must come to terms with as AVO gets more and more aggressive. Even though it’s a fictional world, readers who like WWI and WWII stories will like the action in this story as it feels very similar to those historical events. I was finally able to pick up a physical copy of #eightydays by @blueludebar I've read this graphic novel a few times now digitally but felt that I was missing out a little because I didn't have a physical copy to view the art. While still gorgeous on my tablet, there is definitely something gained with the physical reading experience. This is easily the best book I've read in five (or more) years. I'm currently waiting on approval to read this with my AP Lit students this coming year.
