Late Night with the Devil stars David Dastmalchian as a late night talk show host who is trying to put on a great show before his late night segment gets cancelled when the night goes awry. I am so impressed with this film and surprised that I’ve never seen anything like this done before. It was such a cool concept executed in a very engaging way as the whole film feels like you are watching a tape of an old late night show that had went off the walls in a terrible way. The entire time I just kept thinking “this is so uniquely done” and I had a blast with this film. It was well written and the build up to the final act is interesting and it pays off with a completely bonkers finale with some excellent but foreseeable twists. Dastmalchian gives a solid performance as this charismatic but somewhat mysterious late night show host and you can feel his eagerness to not get the show cancelled. The film itself, while interesting and well written, can definitely feel slow as it takes its time to unravel the story and the plot itself can feel generally predictable in the sense that all the suspicions about some characters are easy to figure out to be true or not, though the conclusion made me have to think about it a little bit, it was still easy to follow which made me feel like I was waiting for something more. Nonetheless, while it felt like there was something missing, this was still such an awesome film with a cool concept that was executed really well and packed with great performances, and a solid final act that delves you into this late night show experience. Reviewing Little Monsters; I just watched this and it’s good. The Batman. I really enjoyed this. It was 30-40mins too long, but they did well to redo Batman. Like in the comics, a true detective story, a young Bruce Wayne learning his trade as the caped crusader. A brilliant performance from our new yet to be Comissionar Gordan alongside the new riddler, brilliant. I see so many comic book influences here and little subtle clues of the possible future stories, Court of Owls and Hush being my favourites. After being delayed a couple of times, Challengers has finally graced cinema screens around the globe. Tashi Duncan (Zendaya), a former tennis prodigy turned coach makes no excuses for the person she is on and off the court. Married to Art Donaldson (Mike Faist), a champion who has been on somewhat of a losing streak, she signs him up for a smaller scale competition in hopes it’ll bring him redemption. He just has to face off against his former best friend and Tashi’s former flame Patrick Zweig (Josh O’Connor) first. Tennis may play an important part in the film, but at the center of it all is a love triangle. Zendaya delivers her most mature and captivating performance yet. Tashi was a magnetic character who didn’t care about anybody but herself and the way she commanded those boys was intriguing to watch. Faist and O’Connor held their own against her as well as each other; their bromance was one for the books and if you ask me, I think they should have been together, not fighting over who got to be with Tashi! That being said, all three had crazy chemistry that I won’t be recovering from anytime soon. Music helps amplify certain scenes and put you in the right frame of mind. The score that was used throughout was so unlike any that I have ever experienced before. It was loud and pulsating especially during the big tennis match. That mixed with the unique way in which it was shot was a palette not only for the ears but for the eyes too. To help bridge the gap between the past and the present, there were multiple flashbacks. The first one really set the stage. After a while, it started skipping around a bit too much and was hard to keep track of. As a result, the big match almost seemed to take a backseat while simultaneously feeling like it lasted far too long. My expectations for Challengers was pretty high and for the most part I feel like it delivered. Thanks to the stunning performance from our three leads and the direction of Luca Guadagnino, this is a film that tingled all of my senses while also staying true to such a beloved sport. Oldtaku’s Opinions Spy X Family Code: White (2023) . . . Cooking up a delightful family adventure that is charming, funny, and loaded with….poop jokes?.. um, okay, I’ll go with that! 😂 “Spy X Family Code: White”, directed by Takashi Katagiri, is a fun theatrical outing for the “Forger Family” that, although ridiculous and a bit unfocused story wise, still manages to entertain and conjure up smiles for fans of the series.

First and foremost, it must be stated that those who aren’t too familiar with the series may not want to start here. Even though the film does a decent job of reintroducing its key characters and major plot details during a brief prologue, there’s a few story elements and an overabundance of characters that may overwhelm those who are coming into this completely blind. The best way to describe this film is a new, complete arc that comes off like an additional season of the show, just with a more extravagant and over-the-top final act that certainly makes the most out of its cinematic budget. While some of its story beats are disjointed and the stakes/villian are rather weak, the narrative is delivered with a sense of joy, the tone is lighthearted, and the hijinks are at an all time high as conflict and rising actions breezily progress through a series of bizarre coincidences, absurd situations, and silly misunderstandings. * Review continues in Part 2 in the comments down below! *

Reviewing Speed; I just watched this and it’s a classic. As for the storyline after policemen Jack and Harry save people from a bomb on a lift and believe that the bomber is dead he returns and bombs a bus and has another one on a bus that will blow up if goes over 50mph and it’s down to Jack to stop it. As for the cast I really liked Keanu Reeves Sandra Bullock and Dennis Hopper and others good too. Overall it’s a brilliant action packed film with tension. Wie wird sich die Anlage auf das Leben der Bewohner und vorallem für die Natur auswirken, ist die Region doch für ihr besonderes Wasser bekannt... Man kann überall hingehen, stets versuchen findige Geschäftsleute Profit daraus zu schlagen indem man potentiel eher geldigen Großstädtern Erholung mitten in der Natur anbietet. Dabei hat der Raubbau an unserer Erde ohnehin schon ein Maß erreicht, welches sich nur schwer wieder umkehren lässt. Regisseur Ryūsuke Hamaguchi versucht mit seinem neuesten Werk genau darauf aufmerksam zu machen indem er seine Handlung mitten im abgelegenen Hochland Japans ansiedelt wo es eine kleine Stadt gibt in der die Menschen versuchen im Einklang mit der Natur zu leben, größere Eingriffe vermeiden und stolz auf Ihr sauberes Wasser sind. Hier soll nun eine Anlage für Luxus-Camping entstehen, natürlich mit allen negativen Begleiterscheinungen im Bezug auf Umweltschutz sowie Kostenminimierung. Ryūsuke Hamaguchi's setzt hierzu auf lange Kameraeinstellungen mit wunderbaren Klängen als Begleitmusik während man aufgrund der entschleunigten Erzäahlstruktur ziemlich intensiv mit den Charakteren vertraut gemacht wird. Im Finale läuft das Geschehen auf ein absolut tragisches Ende, welches man sich lange Zeit nicht vorstellen konnte. Insgesamt machen die wenigen Darsteller mit längerer Screentime einen äußerst guten Job und spielen Ihre Rollen authentisch, wenngleich nicht alle Fragen abschließend geklärt werden können. Schlussendlich lässt sich folgendes Fazit ziehen: Ruhig und mit langsamen Tempo erzähltes Drama aus Japan mit vielen interessanten Ansätzen und nachdenklichen Tönen. Joker. It's a truly beautiful movie that's less about the Batman's arch nemesis but more journal of one mans decent in anarchy and madness. Luther: The Fallen Sun. I loved the TV show on the BBC. This is a god continuation of the story. Some old faces. Some new ones. Andy Sirkis did a great job and was nice to see his actual face on screen. It's a very dark storyline that's pretty tough watching at some point, but it's not doing for doing its sake. It adds to the story. The Name of the Rose (1986) or when the saints become the sinners An abbey - a place of peace and quiet - unless you live in the 14th century and are a monk at a certain Benedictine abbey in Northern Italy. The inhabitants of said abbey have been shaken by a mysterious death that just before an important theological conference takes place there. Thankfully Franciscan friar William of Baskerville (Sean Connery) who is known for his wisdom and knowledge and his novice Adso of Melk (Christian Slater) have just arrived to participate in the conference. While William plays medieval Sherlock Holmes, more deaths occur. Can William find the murderer before it's too late or will he become a victim himself? I cannot resist a good murder-mystery film because that's where I can put on my imaginary deerstalker and pretend I am the next Miss Marple, well a younger version at least. And this film delivered. There are numerous mysterious deaths, plenty of suspicious people and a setting that helps in creating an ominous atmosphere. Sometimes the score remains in the background and after the credits have rolled I can barely remember it - not this time though. James Horner masterfully understands how to create suspense and increase the sinister ambience with the power of music. Sean Connery portrays the wise, level-headed and rational William of Baskerville very well. He radiates an auror that makes you instantly trust him much like a beloved grandfather figure. As contrast you have the innocent and naive Adso who has no clue how the world works. Christian Slater does an excellent job in playing the young Aldo who still has much to learn. However, there is also a second, deeper layer to the movie openly hidden behind this highly entertaining whodunit plot and that's the criticism of the church as an institution. The film frequently shows the double standard of the church for instance while the monks are giving morsels of food to the poor, they are simultaneously collecting food from them as some sort of tax. It's this second layer that to me made this film truly standout. This is not the first time I have seen this film and it certainly won't be the last.

Alien Covenant. Finally, the aliens get scary again. A great sequal to prometheus and a great prequel to Alien. Moviegeek’s Quick Thoughts on The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare (2024) . . . Opening up a can of Nazi whoop-ass with spunk and punchy charm, “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare”, directed by Guy Ritchie, offers enough entertainment value with its ragtag cast of colorful characters and snappy direction. Granted, there’s a lot of plodding in-between these small bursts of excitement that really hold the film back, with the positive components I previously mentioned doing much of the heavy lifting to get this action romp to an adequate level.

Rocking a sick ‘stache, actor Henry Cavill leads the charge with such a magnetic and cheeky performance. With the film allowing them to go wild with accents and espionage antics, the entire cast help keep the narrative quippy and engaging as they each imbue their roles with dynamic personalities and exaggerated behavior. Another performance worth mentioning is Eiza González, who significantly elevates her rather dull subplot that, in terms of writing and pacing, doesn’t match up with the exciting central story.

Based on the true story of Operation Postmaster, the details of which were only declassified in 2016, the film, with a lively and energetically enjoyable attitude, showcases the audacious nature in which these bands of mischiefs fought their adversaries. Heightening the film’s vigorous tone is an exuberant and highly enchanting score by composer Chris Benstead, who blends Western-like sounds with a hint of jazz to outstanding success. In regard to the action sequences, the set pieces here aren’t particularly remarkable. While the overall filmmaking is adequate, the editing is brisk, and the choreography is solid, there’s not one fight scene here that really stands out.

All-in-all, “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare” is a fun, albeit flawed, action feature that’s a passable watch for those who are craving some boisterous characters and diverting blockbuster thrills. Ultimately, this is an aggressively “okay” film that’s aided greatly by a talented cast and crew who just want to have a good time and blow s**t up! . . . Nebenbei bekleidet Sie noch das Bürgermeisteramt und hört sich die alltäglichen Probleme der Menschen an. Als der 65-jährige Emile ( #michelblanc ) entschließt Lesen zu lernen wird dies nur eines von vielen neuen Sorgen für Alice sein... Während deutsche Komödien zumeist mit aufgezwungenem und mitunter dämlichen Humor arbeiten (gerade im Mainstream) bietet das französische Kino hier den um Welten besseren Kontrast. Die in einem kleinen sowie abgelegenen Dorf spielende Komödie "Es sind die kleinen Dinge" hat reichlich Witz gepaart mit klugen und unterhaltsamen Dialogen während der Cast mit einer Spielfreude agiert die man problemlos als leichtfüßig bezeichnen kann. Wie immer in solchen seichten Werken bekommt der Drama-Part nur einen kleinen Anteil der Spielzeit und wirkt dabei stets authentisch. Auch ein paar tragische Einwürfe samt dezenten Backround Geschichten dürfen nicht fehlen, wodurch die Handlung eine gewisse Erdung beibehalten kann. Sicherlich kann man eine gewisse fehlende Tiefe kritisieren aber andererseits harmonieren die Charaktere dennoch sehr gut miteinander. Somit bleibt eine herrlich unterhaltsame Komödie aus Frankreich die am Ende ein wenig zu viel will, welche genug Witz mitbringt um auch an einem kühlen Frühlingsabend das Herz des Zuschauers erwärmen zu können. Every so often a movie comes along that is so unique, original and sometimes wildly bizarre that they’re almost indescribable, there’s not much out there to compare them to. For instance, trying to explain to someone what A24’s Everything, Everywhere, All At One is like or even the Noah Baumback film White Noise on Netflix, they’re almost in a cinematic category unto themselves. The new film Hundreds Of Beavers surely would fall into a category all of its own, I’ve never seen anything quite like it. About the closest thing I could compare it to would be one of the Monty Python movies combined with a bit of Robot Dreams. I say Robot Dreams because the film contains virtually no spoken dialogue, its language devoid script means the film is based exclusively on visually based storytelling. Beavers is simple and clear to follow, it’s all black and white, the simplicity of the plot and style of silly humor works well for kids and adults. This is no high concept incredible piece of cinematic art. But it is smarter than one may give it credit for at first sight. While it is goofy, zany and just plain insane at times, it’s also an incredibly fun, delightful and often hilarious little movie that completely surprised me. You’ll be hard pressed to find one, let alone Hundreds Of films this year, that prove to be as fantastically entertaining as these wild and wacky Beavers. Now this is a Kickass of an insanely fun action movie! This movie will please many movie buffs and audiences members alike. The story is really well done it’s got an interesting plot that seems straight forward with its action movie cliches and rom com elements, but it takes a few surprising turns while making those cliches fit perfectly. Keeps you engaged from start to finish with its explosive action, hilarious comedy and its stunt work and my god the stunt work was spectacular! You don’t only see how to appreciate stunt crews through the story, but with the amount of action they literally throw themselves in. And hats off to both Ryan Gosling, Emily Blunt and the rest of the cast they were awesome on screen with there action sequences. The Grey Man. This encapsulates the issues I have with streaming platform movies. It has the budget, the actors, the story but it for whatever reason doesn't well. The Russo brothers do a god job with trying to make it a thrilling assassin movie, that's a bit of comedy, with a little touch of John Wick, a sprinkling of LEON and fr e doesn't really pull off any of it. For me, it felt messy, missing out on Billy Bob Thorton doing some great acting. You don't take Captain America seriously. We've scene Chris Evans act, so we know he can. Ryan Gosling tries to hit all the pre mentioned marks for he above movies, but just ..... meh.
