On February 9, 1909, William H. Dougherty (1854-1911) patented a tuck box design for playing cards. How was this design different from your standard tuck? It featured a slit across the back where a sample card could be stored and examined by potential customers before purchase. Many manufacturers dabbled in the idea of the display card right around the same time. This would suggest that stores were having issues with packs being opened for inspection. Although an exciting and interactive idea, this style did not last long. Only a handful of examples remain today, with their sample card present. Dougherty offered many popular brands with the new tuck, Tally-Ho No. 9, Empire No. 97, Dougherty “D,” and more.

Total 669 lifting under a different Federation for the first time and a new coach and first time lifting In sleeves. honestly I have to say this is the BEST meet I’ve ever had so far not only the best but the funniest. Squats moved the best today. Got a 14lbs squat PR hit my goal on that. Ofc bench moved as expected waiting for it to click. Honestly not what I expected for deadlift a little disappointed in myself with that I still hit a PR and state records so I am honestly so happy for that. Meet recap: • Competed in the Para division for @uspc.pl today, put on by @great_lakes_power at @rochesterperformancegym. I had an amazing time lifting today, and was able to use my bench overlay. Opened at 111kg on my first, 115 for the 2nd, and topped out at 120kg (national recods). Opened on deads at 185kg and hit 200kg for my 2nd (national records). Failed my third (shit happens). • Huge shoutout to @kenny.lift and @nickklifting for the help with my bench overlay, and @mollsfitt for taking videos! We have another grant recipient to announce! Congrats to Uma Kraskin (FL), recipient of our Trip Harting Fund Grant for Pony Club Members and Graduates! 🎉 Uma is a member of @unitedstatesponyclubs, Wekiva Basin Pony Club, Silver Sands Bridle Club, @dressage4kids, and several other organizations. In addition to dressage and Western dressage, Uma also participates in endurance riding and the Pony Club Quiz Rally. Uma plans to use her funding to train with Jane Ashley (VT) over the summer. Uma said, “TDF’s Trip Harting Fund grant allows me to continue my education in dressage and work toward my goal of a USDF bronze medal. I am so grateful to have this grant to be able to work with higher level dressage coaching to achieve my goals, while at the same time keeping the spirit of Pony Club alive in our daily training and horsemanship.” Trip Harting’s friends and colleagues established this Fund at The Dressage Foundation when he passed away in August 2008. The purpose of the Fund is to provide financial assistance for a Pony Club rider to attend an educational event of his or her choice. Applicants must be current or graduate Pony Club members.
