Budgeting and money management is by far my favorite homemaking task. Iโm ashamed to say that Iโm just now setting up this monthโs budget, but weโve been using the same budget for the last year so I already know what itโs going to look like. I love budgeting because it gives me permission to spend within my limits. I know that weโre living within our means and itโs one way that I can advance us financially without bringing in an income. If you donโt have a budget, itโs really easy to get started. Start by noting your monthly income, then lost all of your expenses and what you think youโll spend that month (or week or paycheck, however you set it up). Throughout the month, track your spending and log it in your budget worksheet. We keep an Excel spreadsheet to itemize our spending for the year, but weโre needs like that lol. Anyway, then at the end of the month you add up your spending in each category and make note of it next to what you thought youโd spend so you can compare the two. The first month is a trial month where youโre just looking to get a baseline for spending. It takes roughly three months to create a budget that works for you. Each month you can tweak it to make it more functional. For example, our grocery spending has been increasing with the price of groceries, so this month we chose to increase our spending limit. Your budget is really what you make it and itโs designed to work for you! Your budget is your friend! I could talk for days about this, but Iโll leave it there for now. If you donโt have a budget, I encourage you to make one today. And, if you have a spouse, include them in the process. Itโs always good to be on the same page about these things. Sauntering into the first weekend of the #newyear2022 with a special #poetrypost. This Friday evening is a great spot to focus the spotlight of #gratitude on a few #wonderfulpeople, #longtimefollowers of mine. Each of these is a #finepoetess / #finepoet and #accomplishedauthor in their own right. All three are well-known and #highlyvalued members of the writing #onlinecommunity, especially of #poetsoninstagram. Most of you, dear #friendsandfollowers, #poetrylovers, #fellowpoets and #creativecontemporaries are aware that one #favoritetopic of #yourstruly is #theocean. My heart is #oceanblue, I am happiest #bythesea. Though I live far from any #seaside, my thoughts often travel there. And so, small wonder, when dear Denise @nobullheart tagged me recently, I was immediately inspired to write an #elfchen (a #poeticform I use very rarely), beginning with the last word of hers, "fire". She had written hers in response to a picture prompt by @poeticmorsels. Dear Linda @lindalokheeauthor, who lives in Australia, near the sea, and is experiencing Summer right now, also wrote an elfchen based on the same prompt, and kindly tagged me.
