How to make goals that are made to last ✨ We know that >90% diet attempts fail, long term. Yet it is so tempting to continue to try something we know has such a high failure rate. Why is it ? Most commonly, it is because what was often designed as a diet to provide rapid change, was not designed to be personalized to you and your unique circumstances. I absolutely love this trend 🥹 It’s so easy to get caught up in the highlight reels of social media, where everything seems picture-perfect, when in reality - we all struggle! That's part of why I believe in sharing more real and authentic content, especially as a small business owner. So, here are three things I’m currently struggling with; 1️⃣ Mum guilt! I absolutely love my business and I love working (I’d go insane if I wasn’t working), but I find myself feeling guilty and worried that I’m not spending enough time with my daughter, or doing enough to entertain her throughout the day. Although I’m SO lucky to work from home with her and I’m sure this will get easier as I find my ideal work-life balance 2️⃣ Making my own content. A huge part of my job is creating content for other small business owners, which I LOVE doing, but it makes it hard to want to do my own. It’s like when a chef goes to work and cooks all day, then comes home and doesn’t want to cook. Except I’m no chef, and I’m not a fan of cooking. 😂 Speaking of… 3️⃣ I’m struggling to find the time to cook in between looking after a new baby and figuring out how to be a new mum, cleaning the house, staying on top of laundry, walking the dog, the list goes on.. Cooking can feel so unachievable sometimes, and when I do have time to cook, I find that all I want to do is lay on the couch and watch Netflix. I’m hoping this gets easier as I settle into mum life and find a routine that works for me. DIETS DON'T WORK ... you can come for me, BUT if you wait and read this you'll see I have a valid point.... As a women's Nutritionist, my clinic is filled with mamas young and old, desperately trying to rebalance their body weight and lose the muffin-tops, love handles and pouch. I consider it an honour to coach them through the process, and we do it every time WITHOUT DIETING! Here's just 3 of the many powerful secrets I prescribe to shift stubborn kilos and rebalance body weight... 1) We hydrate. Now you can scroll on, or read WHY this works so well. In most cases, 99% of people are not able to distinguish between thirst and hunger; they reach for food every time. Combined with yoyo dieting, poor lifestyle habits, this creates a mess in a hurry. If you started hydrating whenever you felt 'hungry' instead, you'd lose 1-2 kg a week without even breaking a sweat. Don't knock it - actually try it! 2) We prioritise macros. No diets, no rules, no restrictions. We focus on a balance of the good essentials; dietary fibre, lean protein and a little healthy fats from wholefoods. When you eat what you body needs - not for your aesthetics - your appetite balances, cravings disappear and your body naturally regulates weight and fat distribution far better. 3) We become intuitive eaters. Diets restrict what your body needs, when it needs it. It creates disordered eating, forces you to ignore natural hunger cues and messes your up hormonal system like a tangled ball of wool. Hydrate first; are you even hungry or are you eating to fill an emotional void? If not, eat when you feel hungry BUT be picky, go for high fibre/protein wholefoods. Track your meals, giving 3 hours between feeds. If you struggle, try smaller protein-based meals or light wholefood snacks. Learn to "hear" what your body needs and is telling you! These tips might seem too simple to actually make a dent in the scale, BUT I have built a 13+ year nutrition practice on the principles I teach - they work, especially once stacked on top of each other. Looking for yummy protein filled recipe made meatless? This low fat spaghetti is packed with 36g of protein per serving 🫡 . Method: • Bring pasta water to a boil, add salt and pasta. Cook till al dente. • While pasta is boiling add dry TVP on a pan with 1 cup of water. Allow the water to absorb. • Chop garlic and veggies. • Turn the heat on, add garlic and fry till there is no liquid left. Add carrots and zucchini, stir for couple minutes and add pasta sauce. • Add Italian herb mix and let simmer for another 5 minutes. • Drain the pasta, divide it between two bowls. HOW FITNESS CHANGED MY LIFE ⤵️ . This was me after my 2 year work and holiday trip in Canada. I had LET GO of myself and I wasn’t really looking after myself properly. I was drinking alcohol almost everyday and consumed a lot of discretionary food items. I wasn’t paying attention to my health and my training wasn’t a priority at this point of my life. Before my return to Australia, I had been getting thoughts creeping into my mind how I had let go of myself completely. I realised the lifestyle I was living wasn’t the real me and I wasn’t happy with the direction I was heading. I knew what I was doing to myself and I had no one else to blame but myself of my situation. Soon as I got back to Australia, my mindset shifted to take accountability and action for myself. I wanted to feel like the TRUE ME again. . With my previous history in training, I did have a good muscle memory and that did work to my advantage. But it was still hard to get back into it - as my strength levels weren’t as they used to be. But I stayed CONSISTENT and TRUE to my GOALS. I had made a deal with myself to gain my strength back. Slowly I started to get old shape back and I wanted to test my limits even further and do my first ever Bodybuilding Show. It paid off, as I won my first timers category in ICN BB and I could have not been more happier about my achievements! . Fitness and Nutrition has provided me a healthy structure to my life, and I made it my mission to be part of career as well. I wanted to work in the field I was passionate about and share my knowledge on Nutrition. Interesting....... Quick fix? or something else? Millions of people around the world take this drug or others like it. There is a lot of revenue! Beware of the so-called quick fix. Anything worth doing takes effort. I have a client who is a nurse that WILL NOT take this drug due to side effects "we need to be cautious because these drugs have adverse effects". "these drugs are dangerous drugs" says the medical expert that is PRO the drug. WTF!!! Apparently there is another side to this quick fix. Have a watch of this U Tube report from 60 Minutes. "undetermined reason for his death". Makes you wonder doesn't it? Gastrointestinal bleeds, pancreatitis, heart concerns. The TGA is investigating this drug - is this not enough to make you question what you are prescribed?
