If setting boundaries feels hard, read this. In order to set better boundaries you have to know what they are for. Boundaries are to protect YOU and they can help you to make sure your needs are met Boundaries are not to control others or manipulate situations. SO, since boundaries are about you then in order to set better boundaries this week you must: ✨Set aside time to check your calendar/schedule: Being aware with what’s going on in your week will help you to set better boundaries around your time ✨Take time to tune into your needs. What do you need to focus on this week? Do you want to add slowness to your day? Are you needing extra movement? Giving yourself the space to check in will help you set better personal boundaries ✨Be prepared for pushback. When you're starting to set new boundaries, there will likely be pushback because people need to get used to this new version of you who is confident in her boundaries. ✨This may also be uncomfortable at first, so get comfy with the uncomfortable feelings that may pop up when you state or hold a boundary. Straight from the lips of my mentor, @amberlilyestrom. And now I say it to myself every day…. Even on the days when the self doubt is EPIC. Even on the days when I want to quit. Even on the days when others poke fun at what I do for a living. Because I have a dream….and I will never let go of it. Amber helped me realize that my dream can be a reality… What is it? I want to serve women who experience stress from their health anxiety and health challenges…. Health challenges and anxiety keep our bodies in a constant state of stress. So we have trouble focusing We experience brain fog We are exhausted but can’t sleep soundly We have muscle aches We overthink And on and on and on And that stress clouds the connection with our inner life force that just wants to heal and FEEL BETTER. Our bodies have an innate intelligence to heal, so let’s clear the damn path for it! Regulating our nervous system is step one.....Clearing the boulders out of the path to make way for our life force! Comment the word PEACE and check out all the different offerings I can shower you with to begin your first steps on that path… Sending love, Xoxo Jolie #healthanxiety #breathwork #somaticpractice #meditationcoaching #nervoussystemregulation #feelbetter #sweetdreamssoon

GET UNSTUCK FROM ANXIETY AND SELF-DOUBT ⬇ 💬 TLDR: Comment “SKILLS” if you want to halt the downward spiral of rumination, procrastination and self-doubt and get unstuck from the bottom up Story 📚 Time🕞 … 10 years ago, I felt like I was beating my head against a brick wall. I knew all the good things to do but I just could not DO any of them. I was stuck, it felt like my back was glued to the bed, and if I did finally pry myself out, throw myself out into the world and try again to go for a walk, go to the beach, or deep breathe, my whole system would go into high alert and I would run back home and shut down. 10 years later, here’s what I’ve learned – there are key capacities that we need in order to take advantage of all those good things we know we should do. When our system is in major overwhelm, some strategies are just not accessible. And that’s ok. When you’re in a ditch, you don’t need to keep hitting the gas. You need to go into reverse. It doesn’t need to be a big emotional freak out. It just requires some awareness of where you’re at and what you need to do next based on where you are right now. It took me a solid decade to uncover that knowledge and learn those skills. Now, I want to help you collapse time and get unstuck in just 90 days with mentorship, a clear roadmap to success and support from a community of women just like you 💬 Comment “SKILLS” ⭐I’ve helped hundreds of women get unstuck and get their life back so they can help others from a place of resource and groundedness and truly be a force for good in the world ❗ Now, I want to show you how we do it for free 💬 Comment “SKILLS” And I’ll send you the link to register for my next free Q&A call where we dive into the weeds and talk through all the messy physical, mental and emotional symptoms of panic and anxiety and give you a clear plan of action to get unstuck for good . . . . . #nervoussystemregulation #selfcare #motivation #mentalhealth #selflove #nervoussystemhealth #retrainyourbrain #healthanxiety #stressrelieftherapy #healingme #anxietyawareness #selfcarejourney #digestiveissues #digestionrelief

Your unconscious mind/lower self is designed to repeat what has been practiced the most often, and be there to keep you safe from experiences that may bring on similar emotions to those you experienced from your past. This is why tennis elbow, a physical phenomenon often has its roots as a protective reaction to keeping you from playing sports. Since it’s the competing that may bring up a loss and hence a feeling of unworthiness that you are being protected from. Or profuse sweating during social interactions. To get you out of that environment and into one where the pressure to say and do the right thing is no longer present, hence there would be no risk of feeling inferior to others. Or another example is the lightheadedness that tends to chronically enter into a persons life because the recurring experiences of overwhelm and external pressure is something your nervous system no longer feels it can handle. As we begin to see these protective reactions we can begin listening to the messages of the body more clearly and guiding it to safety. #anxiety #anxietydisorder #healthanxiety #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #depressionhelp #energyhealing #anxietyattack #anxietyawareness #seflove #emotion #emotions #feelings #hypochondriac #mentalhealthmatters #lifequotes #anxietyguy #fearless #panicattack #panicattacks #anxietyrecovery #support #spirituality

🌬Taking a deep breath today as I navigate through a 3 month long health anxiety spiral. It's not easy, but every single day, I remind myself that taking one step at a time helps. ✨ Here’s a few things that help me navigate a health anxiety spiral: 1. Grounding Techniques: Meditation, sound baths, restorative asana, Earthing, and most recently standing on my vibration plate. 2. Reality Check: Reminding myself of past false alarms, and there have been many! Our minds are powerful and can play tricks on us. Leaning into what I know is true about what I am feeling instead of going down the path of endless "what-if's" can be (and often is) hard. 3. Limit Dr. Google: Resist the urge to endlessly search symptoms, not once have I felt more at ease after a symptom search on Google. A book I love is to turn to is "The Anxiety A-Z Encyclopedia" by @honestlyholistic 🙌🏾 Anxiety can cause physical symptoms that mimic a lot of other scary health issues. This book helps me better pinpoint what I am feeling in regards to anxiety without the doom scroll of Google. Also, having the support of understanding healthcare professionals can provide reassurance, proper diagnosis, and guidance. 4. Routine, Nourishment, and Movement: Gentle exercise, fresh air, and a consistent routine help anchor spiraling thoughts. 5. Support Network: Reach out to trusted friends or loved ones who are willing and able to hold space. Sharing your worries can lighten the load. 6. Self-Compassion: Treat yourself with kindness and patience. Quite possibly the toughest for me, but just like the rest of us, I am a work in progress 🌿 Remember: You’re stronger than you think, and this too shall pass🩷 To anyone else feeling the weight of health worries, you're not alone. Let's take these steps together. #mentalhealthawarenessmonth #healthanxiety #sirilorece #losangeles #musicandmindfulness

⚠TRIGGER WARNING ⚠ Name a place, a people, or a situation where discrimination is not present. I could only think of two (maybe there are more). Babies - they do not discriminate. And... The Big C! So, I have been going through something. It’s spanned a year... mainly because of my blockages. Primarily because, in the past, I have struggled with #healthanxiety. I did not share the inner workings with many, and only now am I sharing this with you all because I want this to be a sign you need as I did. It started a year ago. I had severe itching on my left breast, mainly around the nipple. Then I noticed discolouration and pain—in the nipple, breast, sometimes in the back, and armpit. The pain came and went, but the itching was unbearable. I asked Google—DON’T DO THAT! Uncle Google took me down a road that pushed me to ignore all the symptoms. Even with @sikhdad , whom I tell everything, I hid this. I’m sorry, my love. Continues in comments…

🔬 There is a lot of research that has been done on the connection between the brain and mental health. Mental health is often referred to as being “in your head” because it is so closely related to the brain. The brain is responsible for producing all of the chemicals that are released into our body, which in turn affect our moods and emotions. 🧠 What happens when they are not produced in adequate amounts? Lower levels of these neurotransmitters can cause symptoms, such as feelings of emptiness, worthlessness, sadness, or helplessness. 💠Don't miss out! Understanding a behavior's function is important when we're trying to change our behavior. New habits need NEW patterns. Break down your behaviors if you need to. What’s important is to ask yourself what are you trying to achieve with it? At the end of Chapter 3 in my book, I lay out an exercise to help you do just this. In fact, each chapter has activities designed to get you unstuck because talking about change doesn’t do us much good if we don’t know HOW to actually change. #ocd #anxiety #mentalhealth #depression #mentalhealthawareness #mentalillness #ocdawareness #ptsd #phobia #mentalhealthmatters #obsessivecompulsivedisorder #ocdrecovery #recovery #erp #therapy #ocdproblems #intrusivethoughts #anxietyhumor #selfcare #depersonalization #derealization #agoraphobia #exposuretherapy #psychology #healthanxiety #panicdisorder #compulsions #panicattack

“May is Women’s Health month, a time when preventative care is highlighted. As a young breast cancer survivor, I’m grateful for how medical screening saved my life. As a psychotherapist who specializes in medical trauma, I know that being proactive about health is often easier said than done. Anxiety and dread about medical screening can prevent people from getting the testing they need. This is particularly true for people who’ve experienced life-threatening medical conditions and/or caregivers for loved ones, as unresolved trauma about that experience surfaces each time.”⁣ ⁣ Continue reading ‘Conquer Your Fears: 3 Effective Strategies for Managing Medical Screening Anxiety’ by Stephanie McLeod-Estevez, LCPC (@creativetransformationsllc) now live on yourzenmama.com⁣ ⁣ #yourzenmama #wellness #womenshealthmonth #healthanxiety #womenshealth

I wish I didn't shut down. I wish I could deal with things better. I wish I had better control of my fears. I hate being so aware of when I know I'm failing. I know you're right I know my mind is wrong But it's annoying how that doesn't change anything, Because one part of myself fully knows what I should do, But another part of myself refuses to let that knowledge do anything for me So I shut down, I cry, I hide, I push away things I shouldn't, And what I hate most is you still try to help me. So now I know I'm failing myself. And I'm failing you, And we both have to watch it all Because healing is so hard when you have to do it alone, But nobody talks about the guilt that comes when you aren't facing this alone, And know that love means taking on eachothers burdens even when you don't want them to 🖤 . . . . . . . Ugh guys my health anxiety is still barely manageable and I always feel bad sitting here explaining my problems to people because they always get concerned and want me to be better but I wish it was that easy. Trying to at least get better with some aspects but even that is so difficult. I just shut down and don't take care of myself like I should . . . . . . . . #mentalhealthawareness #photographyislife #writers #mentalhealthadvocate #sky #skyphotography #ittakestime #photos #healing #quotes #writersofig #growth #words #amwriting #naturephotography #youarenotaburden #mindsetmatters #youarenotalone #vsco #instagood #anxiety #quotestoliveby #healthanxiety #likeforlikes #followme #landscape #wellness #liketime #instadaily #onestepatatime

"You changed the scenery, but not the f*cking situation." I am hoping and praying my meds get sorted this week. I wasn't sure how well the biologics were working and how much they were helping me...it turns out, A LOT, and it seems they were masking other issues I hadn't been aware of. It's now nearly 4 weeks without them, and I'm feeling like a prisoner in my own body. I feel horrid, and the only way I can even attempt to get up and go is by mixing things up, hence the hair extensions. - I haven't had a period for 2 weeks (which has created a hormonal rollercoaster and epic rage!) - I have acne, which is super painful - my psoriasis is flaring - my stomach has been non-stop cramping, and my hiatus hernia is just the most unpleasant it's been in years - my sleep is minimal - dactylitis is near enough constant, especially in my toes - neck feels like I have constant whiplash - my hips feel like I've never recovered from the half marathon - my back is starting to flare up - the stabbing, firey, inflamed feeling heachaches have returned - epic fatigue - dropping everything, including a lit candle onto carpet - dizziness and vertigo are back in the game - and topping it off, I've gained weight without even having much of an appetite (And before anyone asks, no, I'm not pregnant) I never moan or beg to my healthcare teams and have always praised them for their amazing support but I'm feeling so lost with all this right now and it's terrifying to know that my body struggles so much without these meds. I wasn't prepared for any of this. So, I'll keep dressing up and changing the scenery for the short moments it makes me feel human and in control of my body until I'm able to get myself back on track. #ChronicIllness #ChronicPain #Disability #Disabled #PsoriaticDisease #ThisIsPsA #PsA #PsAActionMonth #Psoriasis #Pso #DegenerativeDiscDisease #HiatusHernia #Anxiety #Depression #HealthAnxiety #Health #Biologics #AntiTNF #Adalimumab #MTX #Fashion #PhotosOfMe #ootd

In my personal life as a sensitive and “anxious” person and in my career as an anxiety specialist doctor I have talked to thousands of people who struggle with “anxiety”.    In the vast majority of them there was a sensitive child who did not feel they were seen heard and loved.    Every one of those people also JUDGED themselves harshly for being “anxious” or “too sensitive”.    It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society.    OF COURSE we are alarmed. We FEEL the world more than less sensitive people do.    That sensitivity is a gift as we feel more. But, it can also be a challenge, ESPECIALLY if we judge ourselves harshly for that sensitivity [which we were born with by the way].    EMBRACE YOUR SENSITIVITY. It is one of the absolute best parts of the child that is in you. Don’t judge that child for being who they are…    ❤️ that child in you BECAUSE they are sensitive not IN SPITE of it.    Your BIGGEST supporter [after yourself] , …the very sensitive - Dr. Russ • • • #anxiety #anxietyrelief #anxietyawareness #anxietysupport #anxietyrecovery #anxietyhelp #anxietyattacks #anxietywarrior #anxietytips #anxietyfree #anxietysucks #anxietydisorders #socialanxiety #healthanxiety #relationshipanxiety

“DISCONNECT TO PROTECT!” If we can’t fight it away, and we can’t run from it, and freeze still feels like danger...up goes the shield. Shield up. Behind the wall. Safe on the inside. DISCONNECT TO PROTECT. Sort of like when you get unexpected bad news and the words sound unreal, your head is moving fast but the world around you is moving slow, and you weirdly feel nothing as a response to this awful thing, even though LOGICALLY you know it’s awful, your emotional response is a version of numb. But then...we get stuck here. We now lock in our own shield and treat THAT as the danger. And now we FIGHT our own PROTECTION MECHANISM. The part of us that is designed to protect us from danger, is now treated as the identified danger. And Whoosh!, here’s more awareness of that state to CLEARLY SHOW YOU it’s there, and more energy so you can keep fighting it. The BATTLE maintains the state. Why would your Alarm Guy take that shield down if you are still fighting? So you drop the fight...WHILE you are in that state. And not with the intention or expectation of feeling more connected, but with the KNOWLEDGE that this protective state is not only safe, it’s DESIGNED to keep you safe.

A new frame of mind I’ve been trying to utilise to help reduce my health anxiety. When it was bad every time I was too tired to do something or my arm hurt too much or my oura ring showed I’d been stressed for too long in the day I’d use it as evidence to my brain that I wasn’t well enough to go out yet, with zero context applied. This was damaging me so much, I realised I was rushing throughout my day trying to go from one task to the next as quickly as possible so I could "rest" (=me laying down stressing about how I didn’t feel relaxed). I always told myself I’d recover but in my mind this wasn’t happening now (how could it?) I would recover in a few years time when I’d gotten stronger and could walk for longer etc etc. This was so so unhelpful for my healing and nervous system. Now I’ve tried to turn it around, every time I can do something I wasn’t able to before, when symptoms are absent and I’m just tired I say to myself look, this is your recovery happening now. Look how well you’re doing. Look how far you’ve come. My health anxiety is much reduced after implementing the tips on my four years post as well as doing this and I feel calmer than I have done in months. This has allowed me to step back and see actually I am the most well I’ve been since 2020, it is as always just painfully slow. Sending love & light to you all 💛🌞 Lily x

It was my wife Susie's @susiebon73 birthday yesterday. The person who I just couldn't do without in my life. We did another mini break away in the UK. Last Friday, the morning of the trip, I had a release of emotion, which put doubt in my mind about the journey. Here we are, the other side, and feeling much better in ourselves. #mentalhealthadvocate #mentalhealthawarenessmonth #mentalhealth #healyourself #mensmentalhealth #mentalhealthmatters #healthanxietyrecovery #healthanxietyawareness #anxietydisorderawareness #nobadfeelinglasts #mensmentalhealthawareness #anxietysufferer #healthanxiety #agoraphobia #overcomingmentalillness #healthanxietyrecovery #healthanxietysupportgroup #letstalkaboutmentalhealth #talkitout #supportingeachother #mentalhealthsupport #51stbirthday #healthanxietycycle

I've recently received testimonials from clients who have overcome / achieved the following: ⭐Anxiety whilst Kayaking ⭐Fear of Flying ⭐Weight Loss ⭐IBS ⭐Health Anxiety ⭐Performance Anxiety as a Musician ⭐Quit Smoking You may have seen some of these shared in my Social Media content 😊 (or you can scroll back through my page and take a look!) It's interesting to note that a good hypnotherapist will be able to help with a variety of issues - regardless of whether they have had first hand experience of that issue themselves. I was asked by someone considering quitting smoking, whether or not I had ever been a smoker - the answer is no, I never have, however I have helped many people over the years to quit - (usually in one single session 😉) The same is true for fear of flying - I've never experienced this myself, but this is one of the most common things I help people to overcome. The IBS, weight loss and performance anxiety as a musician - I have first hand experience of myself! However, this doesn't alter my approach at all. The reason for this is - it isn't about me!!! It is about my client 😊 When we work with your unconscious mind you discover what it is that you need to overcome your challenge - and that has absolutely nothing to do with me!! Because we are all different. 💛💛💛 #IBS #performanceanxiety #anxiety #healthanxiety #fearofflying #weightloss #hypnosis #hypnotherapy

The gut is the second brain. You know when you have that “gut feeling” or you have “butterflies in your gut” or you feel really anxious in your gut. Well there is a reason for that. The gut controls a lot of how we feel. The key problem is that we eat foods that aren’t real. They are made in a lab or a factory. Man made, not from nature. This causes problems on the gut because we don’t get the key nutrients from those foods, it can cause the gut to be leaky (pierce linings in the gut) and feed our bad gut bacteria - all leading us to not feeling good and having more intrusive thoughts. How can you improve the gut. What worked for me was a 10 day detox. Cutting out gluten, alcohol and dairy. Just eating mainly vegetable and fruits for 10 days and taking lots of herbal pills to help with the liver, colon, intestines and overall gut also taking glutamine to heal the gut lining, candida for an overgrowth of fungus and probiotics. I was in a deep battle with ocd and I got my life back in 10 days. This was over 10 years ago and I’m still amazed at how fast I felt better. Keep going, never give up. Also intrusive thoughts can also start in the brain. But I want to emphasize how important the gut is. I’ve also got a free group and course in the link where you can soon learn more about this. Let me know if you have any questions about this, I’m happy to share. #ocd #ocdawareness #ocdrecovery #ocdhelp #obsessivecompulsive #obsessivecompulsivedisorder #harmocd #anxious #inteusivethoughts #mentalhealth #anxiety #ocdmemes #mentalhealthsupport #intrusivethoughts #obessive #anxietydisorders #endthestigmaofmentalhealth #mentallyill #mentalillnessrecovery #panicdisorder #pureo #pureocd #panicattacks #panicattack #healthanxiety #hypochondriac #rocd #hocd #soocd #pocd

I am super proud of myself! I've spent most of the day in bed struggling with my mobility and a lot of dizziness, and my brain was spiralling more and more. All I kept thinking was just go and drink the rest of the day away. But, I remembered there was a free art therapy session in the cafe round the corner from mine. I spent a good hour talking myself out of going cause I felt anxious about it, then I decided to just get ready and go, and I'm so glad I did. I've always been such an advocate for art therapy. I've had it myself and even wanted to train to become an art therapist, but the timing was wrong, and I could never fully commit to getting a qualification. I still use it to help myself, though, and today, it was needed. I didn't know anyone there and went alone. Grabbed an iced tea and just sat with a load of strangers and started to paint. I had no ideas of what I wanted to paint I just let my hands and brain do their thing and for a good 2 hours I was at peace, calm, and my brain switched off from everything. The pure joy of using art as therapy is that it doesn't have to be a masterpiece, you don't have to prove anything, you just let it happen and you'll find you either start opening up in conversation without realising or you poor all that unwanted energy and pain onto out on to paper or a canvas. Whether it's painting, drawing, photography, dancing, singing, playing instruments, or any form of creative outlet, I highly recommend it. Thank you, @bistro_baristo, for holding space for this to happen 🫶🏻 #Art #ArtTherapy #Therapy #Painting #Paint #Recovery #MentalHealth #MentalIllness #Anxiety #Depression #HealthAnxiety #ChronicIllness #ChronicPain #Arthritis #PsoriaticArthritis #PsA #PsAActionMonth #ThisIsPsA #Psoriasis #Pso #Trauma #Healing #Wellness #Health

Your weekly reminder that anxiety symptoms are so real and feeling them is so valid BUT you're okay. You're going to be okay. Anxiety symptoms FEEL scary but cannot hurt you. They are so commonly felt by people who struggle with anxiety. The unfortunate part for people with health anxiety is they feed the intrusive thoughts people face of "what if I have xyz illness" and the symptoms make you feel validated almost. Don't listen to those anxious thoughts. Remind yourself of the facts. Do you relate to this? Let's chat in the comments. First off I love my modtub Introducing the latest anxiety healing tool I have found so many good studies and more to come! There’s increasing interest in the relationship between cold water immersion (like cold plunging) and mental health, including anxiety. Here are some highlights from the scientific literature: 1. A study published in “Medical Hypotheses” (2018) proposed that cold showers could act as a potential treatment for depression due to their ability to stimulate the “blue spot” in the brain - the primary source of noradrenaline - a chemical which plays a role in alleviating mood disorders like depression and anxiety. 2. According to a research article published in “Neuropeptides” (2018), cold water swimming may have anxiolytic (anti-anxiety) and antidepressant effects by activating the sympathetic nervous system and increasing blood levels of beta-endorphin and noradrenaline. This could help to dampen the production of the stress hormone cortisol. 3. A case report published in the “British Medical Journal” (2016) followed a patient who used cold water swimming to manage her major depressive disorder symptoms. The patient reported significant improvements in mood, anxiety, and sleep after initiating regular cold water swims. 4. In a research published in the journal “PLOS ONE” (2014), participants who took cold showers reported fewer sick days and a significant increase in perceived energy levels, comparable to the effect of caffeine. Although the study did not directly measure anxiety, these effects could potentially contribute to overall mental well-being. While these studies are promising, it’s important to note that more research is needed to fully understand the effects of cold water immersion on anxiety and other mental health conditions. As always consult with a healthcare provider before beginning any new health practices. . Have you tried cold plunging? Self sabotage is a HUGE symptom of when my mental health is getting bad again. Anyone else feel the same way? I have done all the above 🥹today is one of those self sabotaging days and that’s okay. I now look at days like these and allow myself to talk negative and vent BUT I must follow it up with a game plan.. kinda like I did in stories. Feel your feelings, let it out, don’t believe you have to “always be positive” take a break and then restart. You can always restart. That’s the beauty of life. . HEALTH ANXIETY AND ME. I often wish that there was a magic button that we could press to switch off health anxiety. Sadly, no such button exists. Moving beyond health anxiety is a mixture of accepting that things need to change. Appreciating and trusting that you are in control (not your subconscious) and knowing that you have the capability to make change. The way that you speak to yourself matters immensely.. in order to move forward it’s crucial that you not only understand that, but you actively ensure that you treat yourself with kindness. Never put yourself down for feeling the way you do. Being in this place is not your fault. You are not in the wrong. You are also not alone in this. This is a normal reaction in response to an event or trigger that you have witnessed/ gone through. You can do this. It’s not easy. It’s hugely difficult to move forward.. many people often fail and end up accepting and living with this because they give up and reside in the fact that ‘nothing has worked’ or that ‘it’s too exhausting’ .. it is 💯 both of these things. BUT .. you can move forward. I have not only overcome health anxiety myself.. but I’m massively fortunate to witness the change happen with my clients too. Want to know how they do it? The change comes from within. They decide that enough is enough. They stop clutching at what they thought their problem was (symptoms) and start addressing their real problem (anxiety). Often what holds us back is simply not knowing what to do or where to focus the little energy that we have left after anxiety has consumed us. ❤️ Believe in your change. ❤️ Know that you’ve got this. ❤️ Trust in yourself. ❤️ How does health anxiety make you feel? What have you done to move yourself forward? Let me know ⬇️

😴 Have you ever woken up from what you thought was a great sleep only to feel still exhausted? That’s because sleep and rest are not the same things, although many of us incorrectly confuse the two. Research suggests that there are seven different types of rest that our bodies need; physical, mental, social, creative, emotional, spiritual, and sensory. Rest should equal restoration in seven (7) areas of your life. So we hope you have time to get some well-deserved rest in all its different forms.
