Long post. Soz! GRWM reels on pause 😉This picture was taken in 2019 (!) not long after I was announced as the ‘Lifestyle’ category winner at the UK Blog Awards. It wasn’t an easy feat (because of the competition) but also, truth be told, the ENTIRE digital media landscape has been at the very core, no, EPICENTRE of many career conflicts I’ve wrestled with internally (and continue to) since the print magazine landscape (where my ♥️ will always be) crumbled and resurrected as a ginormous screen 🖥️📱Forgive me if I sound prehistoric but I’m Gen X, nearly 47 and extremely proud of my career highs which started with a Filofax and polaroid book at 22 on the fashion desk at The Sun. Navigating SO MUCH change has been challenging as consumer behaviour changes. PRs, brands, ex-colleagues have come/gone but thankfully, there are still friendships cherished from an OG crew whom I still see (you know who you are 🥰) many of us pivoting, diversifying and having to adapt quicker than a TikTok transition! Understanding ALL this 🆙 might explain why I’m tussling to see the point in my blog anymore and yet, still, I don’t want to pull the plug. My subscription renewed today so I find myself staring at the ugly arse end of WordPress wondering WTAF to make of this blog, The FT Times…what to use it for, what to delete, what to keep, or just to leave it and walk away. I’ve been reading a lot about career detoxing; getting rid to fully reset but what if you’re not ready to let it go? What if it’s just fear talking? And is courage diving back in and doing it differently or ditching it?!ARGH! Anyways. That’s the brain dump, rn 🧠💥 Back to packing for my press trip. Back to GRWM reels. Back to overthinking. The first week back has been intense, but have we finally seen signs of some sunshine peeking through? ☀️ I've felt quite tired and out of sorts this week, but it's nice to get back to a routine. I thought I'd bounce back to it, but if anything I've been a bit frazzled, anxious and tired - maybe I've just been ploughing on and it's finally all catching up with me? This week: 👯♀️ The girls went back to school and all the afterschool clubs 🌱 All of our seeds are growing nicely - if anything they are getting TOO big and need to go out into the garden ASAP! 🇮🇹 I finished teaching my English classes to my Italian group, I loved getting to know them, looking forward to the next course. I'm now 50% through my TEFL qualification too 👏🏻. I've started an account about it here @learn.with.lyndsay (if this is your thing?) 🏃🏼♀️ Couch to 5k is going well, I did the big 20 minute interval woop! 🥰 We've been enjoying this wonderful book by @sugar_snap_studio a local Brighton author and illustrator. I wish I'd had a book like this when I was little ✨️ Tomorrow is Pearl's appointment so this evening I'm going to be nervously putting together notes and collecting my thoughts ready to go in as prepared as we can be. I will be relieved when it's just DONE tomorrow, but we shall see how it goes - keep everything crossed for us 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 How was your week?
