Did you know that the way we breathe can significantly impact our overall well-being? I wanted to share with you some insights I've learned about the importance of breathing techniques, particularly in practices like yoga and meditation. When it comes to breathing during these practices, inhaling through the nose and exhaling through the mouth is highly encouraged, and for good reason. First off, breathing through the nose allows for deeper breaths, which can help us relax more deeply. On the other hand, breathing through the mouth often results in shallow breathing, which doesn't quite do the trick when it comes to reaching that state of calmness and ease we're aiming for. Our nasal passages are designed to condition the air we breathe by filtering, warming, and humidifying it before it reaches our lungs. Mouth breathing skips this important step, which can leave us feeling dry and less comfortable during our practice. There are exceptions. Begin now! 2️⃣ SITTING STILL IS TOO UNCOMFORTABLE ❌When it comes to meditation, comfort is not negotiable. We don’t want to be distracted by the pain after just a few minutes and we definitely don’t want to create a condition for the body to suffer. ✅Make it comfortable. Sit in a way that allows your spine to elongate from the tailbone to crown of the head, use cushions and blankets to support your pelvis and thighs, you can even sit on a chair if having the legs crossed makes your back screaming. 3️⃣ YOU CANNOT STOP THINKING ❌Our mind is made to think, her tendency is to jump restless from the past to the future. ✅Accept the craziness of your mind.
