This time it’s about our latest Building Futures workshop, and how our participants embraced their inner thespian to gain confidence, learn employability skills and put on a show called... "Twisted Tales!" 🏡🎓🟢 #BuildingFutures is an employability programme that changes the lives of disadvantaged adults & young people across Buckinghamshire. It includes activity workshops that help participants learn new, transferrable skills and gain confidence. 🎭Our latest workshop was kindly hosted by Aylesbury’s Waterside Theatre/ @atg_tickets whose Creative Learning Team does fantastic work in their community. ✍️Over 8 sessions, our would-be thespians learned theatre and production skills whilst writing and rehearsing their own show, with total creative control. 💷They also learned employability and transferrable skills, CV-writing, cover letters, interview techniques, numeracy... 🎭Their work culminated in a show called “Twisted Tales,” an amazing display of invention, creativity and wit, which you can read more about in our blog! 🤩It was amazing to see people’s confidence develop, and to witness many of the group gain leadership skills in a short time. 😍Thank you to the Waterside Theatre team (including Madison!) and Nicolle at Adviza for making a huge difference to many lives... 👀...because the successful progression of the group in their moves towards employment or training are incredible and really MUST be read in our full blog, at www.adviza.org @ #uksharedprosperityfund @buckscouncil #UKSharedProsperityFund #BucksCouncil #BuildingFutures #ChangingLives

On April 15th, 1947, Jackie Robinson became the first African American player in the mlb at 28 years old. For more than 50 year’s baseball was a segregated sport. In Brooklyn NY during the 1940’s African Americans made up just 4% of the population. So when Jackie made his debut, racism was almost at an all time high and nobody wanted to see a black player take the field. When he took the field for the first time the crowd threw stuff at him and called him the n word. Even players and coaches on the opposite teams were screaming at him telling him this was a white folks game. Eventually he changed baseball as we know it and broke the color barrier. NEW PARAGRAPH As we can see in the see in the second photo there is a lot more diversity in the game we all love. With the help of Jackie Robinson and other professional black athletes at the time it has helped more diversity come into all the sports whether it was basketball, track, or football over the years. 📢 Learning through doing - the best way to make an impact! Meet Joyce, Rholls, and Karen, uOttawa students who participated in Connected Canadians’ Experiential Learning program! Joined by fellow undergraduate medical students, they were provided a unique learning opportunity that not only filled required hours but also left a lasting impression on the lives of older adults across Canada. In Community Service Learning, or CSL, students gain opportunities to work 1:1 with CC’s clients both in person and virtually, offer support to partners such as the National Gallery of Canada or Bruyére Village, provide digital literacy workshops, coordination support and gain practical experience at a Canadian non profit organization. Self care is so important! Last year, I fulfilled a long-standing desire of taking pottery classes. It was the first time I was doing something for myself with intention. It was a truly therapeutic experience. I found myself fully engaged in the creative process and was automatically practicing mindfulness, the art of being present in the NOW. Though my creations were not always perfect, the joy and fulfillment that prioritizing myself brought me made it all worth the extra time at the wheel. That child-like feeling of accomplishment on making the first perfectly round bowl on the wheel without the clay collapsing or the amazement at the finished artistic expression in the pieces after they were fired in the kiln! If you're not motivated enough to make the changes now (even with Black Friday incentives etc), then you're not going too in the New Year! 75% of New Year resolutions Fail.... --- Simply put, If You Want Your goal enough, you Would make the changes Now to Achieve them.. If you dont - Then either the goal is wrong, or the reason behind it is.. It could be that your thought process is wrong, there are reasons for this that can be worked through n overcome.
