Can you spot the difference? Lack of core engagement vs core engagement. I was playing around in the left picture experimenting with various things, my back is very arched and nothing was engaged. Moving to the right photo, I’m literally contracting and pulling my core in and you can see how straight the back is 😀 When I came out of the pose, I was breathless! It felt like I had done 20 crunches in a span of 20 seconds, talk about core workout!! 😍🤪 Same thing going on in the second photo except legs are straight up. Practicing this #lotusmonth with @tanya17.85_yoga #garbapindasana variations . Sometimes techniques that is meant to be done with fully warm sweaty 🥵 arms and legs doesn’t happen but adjusting what works gets you there for safety and ease and lightness in breathing 😮‍💨 instead of pushing to the max. I definitely had to loosen-up the lotus 🪷 to get my arms through the tight calves muscles and ankles in order to do this #corecompression 😁😁.. #lotuspose variation

Training core compression will not only be beneficial for your core and hip flexor strength but also helps you gain more flexibility in order to do complete forward bend. It is also an essential skill for L-sits, toes-to-bar, skin the cats, pistol squats and press the handstand. - Post by @yogiissy - I tried to provide some modifications on each moves. Try to hit 8-12 reps each for about 2-3 sets. Don’t worry if at the beginning it seems like the legs won’t even lift or some cramps might occur. It takes time and practice. Ps. This, in turn, will help you to manage unexpected movements and improve your overall body posture and coordination. More advanced examples of this are the L-sit and press to handstand. Let’s get stronger 😊 Sharing my today’s practice for those who ask for videos. I’m not professionally trained, can’t explain these. But these are good for core as well as for shoulders strengthening. You can use any objects if you don’t have yoga blocks,that can help you lift higher. And use your woollen socks to slide nicely if you don’t have sliders. I don’t practice these regularly. You can give these a try and practice it twice a week. Please do proper warm up first. I’ll try to share warm up exercises soon. And keeping in view of endless queries about handstand, I’d try to make videos once a week for those who want to start their upside down journey. #alowinterenergy forward fold. This is a forward fold sort of -chest to thighs- but seated. . . Compression is an action to really improve forward folds. I am learning how to activate more in a standing forward fold to squeeze my bottom abs to my upper thighs. 🔅Handstand post🔅 Working on my form after neglecting my upside down journey for quite some time and was really happy I could stay in balance for a little while ! Here 3 core exercises to prepare myself: 3 rounds : 🔅10 x Seated pike compressions 🔅10 x rocking boats ( 2x5) 🔅10x rocking ellbow plank , 10 sec hold It helps that I did a lot of mobility and hamstringstretches with my clients today already. Just trying was the intention here, as I have almost 😅 no space in forearms to bring legs 🦵🏽 bind after kickboxing + dance 💃🏼 class, barely 😅 able to teach pilates right before this ☝🏽 without cramping body .. Glutes & Core 🤘 @built.by.becky No lunges, no squats and this can be done anywhere. All you need are some resistance bands. These are also great to use as glute activation before your glute workout. Complete each exercise for 16-20 reps. Repeat for 1-2 rounds before your glute workout or 4 rounds as your glute workout. 1. Rocking seated banded abductions (push hard through you heels and keep your legs pushed outwards against the bands resistance) 2. Seated band abduction 3. Alt. The drills we’re working on are for Baby Crow also known as Baby Bakasana. Don’t be fooled! This baby ain’t any easier than the grown up version. It requires intense core compression and strong shoulders! DRILLS: 1. Gluteal/hamstring flexibility : 3 different drills given here. Choose one or all 3! 2. Posterior Pelvic Tilt/Deep Hip and Knee Flexion: before folding, engage deep core, tuck tailbone under into posterior pelvic tilt and protract shoulder blades. Then hinge at the hip, bend knees and draw knees in tightly towards chest. Knees should be drawn in as close as you can towards chin 3. Core Compression: 3 levels of difficulty. In Levels 2 & 3 you will also need to work on engaging your delts and strengthening your shoulders so keep pushing the ground away with the forearms and activate those shoulder muscles 4. Entry supported by block: if you have trouble clearing your feet off the ground, the block can be a friend in getting your shins and ankles off the floor. Lift the hips up! 5. Bolster supported drop down from Pincha. 6. Drop down from Pincha - progression from no 5. Slow down the movement and work on engaging the core. 7.
