Adults are not the only ones that get stressed, anxious, depressed, or feel a wide range of emotions. Children are struggling too! Unfortunately, childhood is where it begins. As a child, if they are not taught how to become aware of their own thoughts and responses (not the ones that they collect from the people around them), and their own true behaviors, it can be very difficult for them to navigate through tricky situations and stressful times. These children grow up to be adults who have difficulty as life’s responsibilities and pressures increase over time. Early intervention is important, and home is a safe space to start. When a child is taught to become aware of the way they respond and regulate their emotions at an earlier age, it can help them maneuver with ease instead of going against the flow. They can learn to ask themselves why they make certain choices when a particular situation arises and how they can cultivate a better response the next time they are faced with a similar obstacle. Utilizing mindfulness techniques can help them with this. Manche Zeiten sind einfach unfassbar hart. Sei es nun, weil man persönliche Schicksalsschläge zu verkraften hat, die chronischen Erkrankungen (und die damit einhergehenden Symptome) mal wieder geballt zuschlagen oder der Alltag einfach nur unfassbar stressig und anstrengend ist. Dann ist es gut sich daran zu erinnern, dass kein Zustand für immer ist. Dass das Leben fortwährend Veränderung bedeutet, was manchmal traurig ist, aber manchmal eben auch gut. Denn es bedeutet auch, dass es auch wieder bessere Tage geben wird. Und daran versuche ich persönlich mich in schwierigen Zeiten immer festzuhalten. Deshalb versuch dir, wenn du magst, bewusst zu machen: Es kommen auch wieder bessere Tage. Du hast schon so vieles geschafft und überstanden. Es wird immer auf irgendeine Art und Weise weiter gehen. In meinem neusten Blogartikel geht es darum, unheilbar krank zu sein und die fehlende Akzeptanz von anderen. Deshalb kommt es immer wieder zu Vorwürfen wie: • Wie kannst du noch nicht wieder gesund sein? • Wie „für immer“? • Du musst dich nur mehr anstrengen! • Wer will, findet Wege. Wer gesund sein möchte, wird auch wieder gesund. • Du musst nur positiv denken und dir vorstellen, du seist gesund. Dann wirst du auch wieder gesund! • Wenn nicht, hast du dich nur nicht genug angestrengt! Aber so einfach ist es eben nicht. Es gibt eine Menge Krankheiten, die nach derzeitigem Wissensstand der Medizin als unheilbar gelten. Dies zu akzeptieren, fällt diesen „Kritikern“ jedoch nicht leicht. So ist es dann viel einfacher, die Verantwortung und Schuld für eine Erkrankung beim Erkrankten selbst zu suchen, anstatt sie als Unglücksfall zu betrachten, der jeden ereilen (und Angst machen kann). Gesundheit und Überleben wird damit also zu einer persönlichen Leistung und persönlichem Versagen degradiert. In der heutigen Leistungsgesellschaft haben somit chronisch Kranke nichts verloren. Sie sollen möglichst leise und unsichtbar vor sich hin leiden und die anderen Menschen bloß nicht mit diesen Themen konfrontieren. Sie könnten es ja schließlich anders haben – wenn sie es WIRKLICH wollten. Dabei wird gerne vergessen, dass Gesundheit Freiheit bedeutet. Und wer verzichtet schon gerne freiwillig auf seine Freiheit? Die Freiheit so vieles zu tun, was oft nur Gesunden vergönnt ist. Deshalb, ihr Kritiker, versteht doch bitte endlich, dass sich niemand aussucht chronisch krank zu sein und dass Gesundheit keine Frage der Willenskraft, Anstrengung oder Leistung ist. Journalling can be such a powerful tool. Recently in one of my groups we have been sharing our anger diaries. This is one of the ways we can journal. Anger diaries help us to express our anger. Often as children and in our lives we suppress our anger as we tiptoe around other people's feelings not wanting to 'upset the applecart' or cause disruption in already volatile and unpredictable situations we may find ourselves in. Essentially this is highly unhealthy and suppressed anger can lead to anxiety and depression. Heute gibt es nochmal einen kleinen Beitrag von mir für dich mit kleinen Erinnerungen daran, mit welchen Glaubenssätzen wir uns nicht belasten sollten und mit welchen eher. 1. Dein Bestes zu geben kann jeden Tag anders aussehen. Mal rockst du die Welt mit tausend To Dos und an einem anderen Tag schaffst du nur das nötigste oder musst dich einfach nur ausruhen. Und beides ist völlig ok. Du gibst jeden Tag dein Bestes unter den dir gegebenen Umständen! Und darauf kannst du stolz sein. 2. Du musst dich nicht um alles und jeden kümmern. Deine höchste Priorität gilt dir selbst. (Aber auch danach bist du nur im begrenzten Maße für andere verantwortlich.) 3. Kümmere dich um dich selbst – du hast nur eine Gesundheit und Selbstfürsorge ist so wichtig! 4. Du musst nicht jedes Problem (sofort) lösen – weder bei dir, noch bei anderen. 5. Du darfst jederzeit nein sagen – ohne dich rechtfertigen zu müssen. Natürlich dürfen wir anderen erklären, wieso etwas gerade nicht geht (insbesondere bei uns nahestehenden Personen). Aber wir müssen es nicht! Ein Nein kann ganz für sich stehen. „Nein, da kann ich leider nicht.“ – Fertig. Du brauchst keine Begründungen dafür, warum etwas zum Beispiel nicht geht. Und diesen Moment auszuhalten und sich nicht in Rechtfertigungen zu verlieren, kann sich mit der Zeit immer besser und stärker anfühlen (auch wenn es am Anfang noch schwierig sein mag). Du stehst für dich selbst und deine Bedürfnisse ein. Ein klasse Gefühl! 6. Du musst nicht jeden mögen und es muss dich nicht jeder mögen. Auch wenn wir manchmal das Gefühl haben, es wäre anders. Aber dem ist nicht so. Manchmal passt es einfach nicht und das ist ok. Die wichtigen und richtigen Menschen werden dich mögen und du sie. 7. Du bist nicht für das Glück der anderen verantwortlich. Jeder ist in erster Linie für sich und sein eigenes Leben selbst verantwortlich. Das bedeutet natürlich nicht, sich nicht gegenseitig zu unterstützen. Aber es sollte eben auch nur das sein, eine Unterstützung und kein „übernehmen“. Am Ende muss jeder sein Leben selbst in die Hand nehmen und hat es in der Hand, es so glücklich wie möglich zu gestalten. #chronischkrank #healthyfeelings

We can always change the way we think about things. We can look for the positives. We can work on turning negative assumptions into more healthy, positive ones. Unhealthy beliefs are based on rigid, black & white, sabotaging thoughts and they lead to unhealthy feelings and behaviours (eg. Sadness, anxiety, resentment, anger .....). Healthy beliefs are based on flexible, nonrigid thoughts, on acceptance and tolerance- they lead to more healthy feelings and behaviours ( peace, joy, calmness, happiness). Look for the alternatives, for understanding, for different perspectives. Manchmal ist überhaupt aufzustehen, der schwerste Schritt des Tages. Wenn du das, trotz aller Symptome, geschafft hast, kannst du unheimlich stolz auf dich sein! * Insbesondere wenn man chronisch krank ist, kann es schon eine immense Aufgabe sein, sich dazu durch zu ringen überhaupt aufzustehen. Vielleicht, weil einem alles weh tut oder weil die Depressionen so erdrückend sind, dass man kaum die Kraft hat, sich zu bewegen. Und dennoch stehen wir Chroniker oft trotzdem auf – irgendwie. Wir nehmen all unsere Kraft zusammen, so schwer es auch ist und versuchen in den Tag zu starten. Wenn du das heute also geschafft hast, kannst du verdammt stolz auf dich sein! Allein deine Erkrankung, deine Symptome auszuhalten ist so ein großer Kraftakt. Das allein gleicht schon einem 24/7-Vollzeit-Job! Deshalb sei heute bitte mal stolz auf dich, dass du es geschafft hast, obwohl es manchmal so schwer ist. Ich bin auf jeden Fall stolz auf dich! Auf jeden da draußen, der so kämpft und trotzdem nicht aufgibt! PS: Leider ist es vielen Menschen (so auch mit me/cfs) auch gar nicht möglich aufzustehen. Das liegt dann aber nicht an ihrem Unvermögen oder Unwillen, sondern weil es schlichtweg nicht möglich ist. Für diese ist es aber genauso ein Kraftakt in den Tag zu starten, trotz aller Symptome. Hello!!! 👋 Here’s a little ‘get to know me’ post…(thanks for the push from my new friend @courtneylee.musicforkids - check her out!) So I am Jada! 😁 I have a wonderful husband and 2 fantastic kiddos and a bouncy loveable dog! 🐶 I am a Canadian 🍁 singer, songwriter, guitarist - new to ukulele, piano and cello! 🎶 I wrote my first song in 2019. I put together the songs from this upcoming first album in 2021/22, and since then the songs are coming fast and furious! 🎶🎶🎶 I have a B.Sc in psychology, minor in Biology and I am a certified X-ray and Ultrasound sonographer 🩻 So I guess this paints the picture that I have a dream 💫 to share these songs about feelings and tricky life situations (and also the fun super hero, unicorn, bubble, dance etc songs) with kids and families - but with a muggle job and a young family and life, it is taking a while! 😁 And that’s ok! 👌 They are on the wayyyyyyy! 🎶💫😁 If you are reading this THANK YOU! Wellness Wednesday Kick-Off was a triumph for our school community. We started the day with our annual #WalkandRoll to School with over 370 scholars and school community members including Pittsburgh Bureau of Police Chief Larry Scirotto. The school community rolled to school on skates, scooters, skateboards, bikes 🚴, and walking feet. Was ich heute getan habe? Geatmet. Überlebt. Gute Bilanz würde ich sagen. Als chronisch kranke Person gibt es viele Tage, an denen man zu nichts in der Lage ist und einfach nur den vielen Symptomen hilflos ausgeliefert ist. Zusätzlich zu den Symptomen quält man sich dann gerne noch damit, dass man heute mal wieder nichts geschafft hat. Vielleicht gibt es auch gemeine Stimmen von außerhalb, die so etwas andeuten. Was auch immer es ist, man bekommt manchmal das Gefühl unproduktiv, nutzlos und damit auch wertlos zu sein. Dabei wird gerne vergessen, wie viel Kraft es kostet, sich jeden Tag seiner Erkrankung und den vielen Symptomen zu stellen. Es ist ein 24/7-Job, ohne Pause, ohne Feiertag! Wenn du heute also einfach nur den Tag überlebt hast, dann hast du einen verdammt guten Job gemacht! Schau doch bitte mal, was das für eine Leistung war, das alles auszuhalten. Wie viel Stärke, Kraft und Mut es kostet, sich dieser Herausforderung jeden Tag zu stellen! Vergiss also bitte niemals, dass dein Wert nicht davon abhängt, was du an einem Tag geleistet hast! Und wenn dem doch so wäre, was du jeden Tag eigentlich leistest, in dem du einfach bist. Bitte sei stolz auf dich! Wichtige Reminder für den Tag: *Du bist so wie du bist wertvoll und liebenswert – du musst es nicht beweisen! *Du musst nicht immer positiv und gut drauf sein – alle Gefühle sind okay! *Du bist nicht zu kaputt, um zu heilen – jeder Weg ist unterschiedlich und braucht seine eigene Zeit! *Es ist mutig nach Hilfe zu fragen & diese anzunehmen – es ist kein Zeichen von Schwäche, sondern von Stärke, anzuerkennen, dass wir manchmal auch Hilfe brauchen. *Es ist nie zu spät andere Wege zu gehen – trau dich! *Manchmal ist Atmen und Überleben der wichtigste Job des Tages – du bist nicht unproduktiv oder wertlos, sondern meisterst unvorstellbares! *Auch dieser Tag wird vorüber gehen. Feelings don’t always feel good, do they? 👉 We receive criticism from our boss and walk away feeling ashamed, angry, or discouraged. 👉 We have a disagreement with our spouse and feel hurt, misunderstood, frustrated, or concerned. 👉 Our kids get in the car with their friends for the first time and we feel anxious and worried for their safety. 👉 We lose a loved one to cancer and we feel depressed, devastated, and hopeless. Emotions like these (and many others) can be incredibly distressing and painful. It’s understandable that we would want to want to avoid them. But when we avoid our emotions we end up repressing them. Then they get buried deep within our bodies and can lead to sickness, depression, anxiety, addiction, cynicism, isolation, or destructive conflicts with people. Furthermore, trying not to feel an unpleasant emotion can numb our ability to feel any emotion — including the pleasant ones! So what’s the alternative? Look to Jesus. Share your heart with him. See him empathizing with your feelings and thoughts (which are connected) so you can take on the mind of Christ (1 Cor. 2:16; Heb. 4:15). We can do this through meditating on the Gospels (especially by focusing on Jesus’ emotions) and participating in love-one-another relationships in the body of Christ where we give and receive empathy. Doing this helps us process and heal from our painful emotions in healthy ways. And in return, we can internalize the tender love and grace of Jesus that grounds us. It’s crucial to find help for our feelings of anger! Many people don’t feel safe with their anger, thinking it’s wrong or sinful to feel so intensely. Sadly, anger that is denied or repressed leaks out, hurting ourselves and our loved ones more in the long run. So, how do we deal with anger in a healthy way? ➡️ Accept your angry emotions To let go of anger, we first need to feel, own, and accept it. Accepting angry emotions is not a self-help project. This type of courageous emotional honesty invites Jesus to minister his comfort to us. ➡️ Practice stillness Stillness creates space to identify the deeper emotional needs or the sins underneath our anger that God desires we release to him. ➡️ Ask for empathy Asking for empathy from a trusted Christ-follower can bring peace and strength to a wounded heart. ➡️ Surrender to the Lord Trusting that our Lord Jesus is our judge and mediator who makes all things right helps us relax while we wait for his love and justice to be manifested. His grace empowers us to overflow with forgiveness (Col. 3:13), and his wisdom guides us in determining healthy boundaries. Allowing the Spirit of Jesus to help with our anger leads us to deeper levels of his healing and freedom. What exactly is anger? You've felt it before, but you may be murky on its definition. Anger is a feeling of being wronged and it’s an energy that moves you to assert your will to right the wrong or get what you want. Dallas Willard explains, “Anger is a spontaneous response that has a vital function in life… It is a feeling that seizes us in our body and immediately impels us toward interfering with, and possibly even harming, those who have thwarted our will and interfered with our life.” It's natural to experience anger when your will is crossed, when you're hurt by someone's actions, or when you fear you won't get what you want. Ignoring your anger and related emotions can hinder your success and, in time, bring pain to both you and your loved ones. Our Savior, Jesus, is a master psychologist who comprehends the dynamics and risks of anger. In Jesus' Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7), a substantial portion (28%), deals with anger and the associated struggles such as contempt, hurtful words, relational conflicts, unforgiveness, and passing judgment. When you reflect on your personal history of conflict, sin, and pain, you'll often find that anger played a significant role, whether it was your own anger or someone else's. This is why Jesus dedicated so much teaching to addressing anger. To grow in health and Christlikeness, it's important to grasp and care for your angry emotions, which have many nuanced variations. Learning the vocabulary of stormy emotions is vital for showing and receiving empathy. This fosters effective self-control, conflict resolution, close relationships, emotional well-being, and compassion.
