i would like to start out by saying thank you to netgalley and the publisher peachtree teen for the arc. i want to premise this by the fact i have loved AJW works in the past, and with that in mind compound fracture is EXTREMELY different in several ways: but it has similar themes. *i do encourage anyone who wants to read this book to please look at trigger warnings! the author has them on his -goodreads, and his website! this book overall for me felt like a hug to the kids who grew up or are growing up in towns where life is harder for them -harder to be 100% authentically themselves. if you are or where that kid, i urge you to sit down with one of White’s books. i believe the power of being seen in an art form *whether that be via literature, or media* is a gift. you are not alone, and you do matter! the book synopsis can be found on goodreads, and the authors page! but it is a Appalachian thriller *not horror!! this book showcases many beautiful themes: including the importance of family, friendships, and community. rating -⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ overall if you can handle the cws and enjoy thrillers i urge you to read this book, it had me hooked from the first page to the last *i literally did not sleep till i finished it! 🏷️- #andrewjoesphwhite #book #booklover #bookobsessedgirl #bookaddict #booknerd #bookrecommendations #bookcommunity #bookblogger #booklove #booklovers #bookreview #bookgram #read #readmorebooks #reading #readersgonnaread #readreadread #readtransbooks #lgbtbooks #compoundfracturebook #peachtreeteen #arc

Finished my classes for my second calling!! Do not ask me what I'll do once autumn classes come around, but for now I'm having such a lovely time. And I wanted to start studying for Moon Warden so, so badly. So we're going for it. 😌 I have to say the highlights were most definitely Light From Uncommon Stars and Iris Kelly Doesn't Date. There's just something about the Bright Falls chaos girls that gets me every time. I might still love Delilah Green the most, but the rest of them are still favorites. Light From Uncommon Stars was devastating at times, but I also loved it very, very much. I read it in two different formats, in two different languages, and it was gripping and also absolutely wonderful from beginning to end. Song of Silver, Flame like Night was the biggest disappointment here. If it hadn't been for the readathon I'd never have finished it and I was still tempted to just skip and skip. Nothing about the book worked for me, even when I actually could understand the characters' actions. Just... All around not for me and a big letdown. The rest was fine, overall not the most satisfying reading for classes, but it could've been worse. Fingers crossed for the next ones. 🤞 #orilium #oriliumreadathon #magicalreadathon #bibliophile #bookish #readtransbooks #bookstagram #queerbookstagram #queerlit #lesen #romancereader

I made one for Indigo because he deserves memes too! He’s a main character from my novel, The Lunar Heir. Indigo dreams of fighting dragons like in the great stories. But being a knight isn’t all that he thought it would be -- he spends too much time staring at walls while guarding the elven king. And he’s beginning to realise he cares a bit too much what people think of him. If he spends all his time trying to live up to others’ expectations, never able to truly meet them, what does that leave him with? He’s determined to take back control of his own life. #epicfantasy #fantasy #queerbooks #bookmeme #readtransbooks #transwriters #fantasy #romantasy #writerscommunity #gaybooks #mmromance #fantasyromance #fantasywip #queerbooks #queerfantasy #thelunarheir

About Milo from my WIP dark academia novel! Chronically ill and traumatised, Milo seeks solace in his very normal obsession with birds. He dreams of living a normal, happy life and becoming an ornithologist. His dorm walls are absolutely not covered in paintings and drawings of birds. Milo grew up alone in a tower until he was 15. This did not help his social skills, but it’s okay because Milo would much rather you leave him alone to read and paint. Unless you’re Neroli -- then he will burn the world for you. An introduction to Neroli, a character from my untitled WIP! Neri is a mage who is studying symphonics – the arcane study of music. They’re 18 years-old and full of spunk and sarcasm. But they have big dreams for the future, so they can’t give in to this desire, no matter how desperately they wish to. #highfantasy #fantasy #queerbooks #bookmeme #readtransbooks #transwriters #fantasy #romantasy #writerscommunity #gaybooks #mmromance #fantasyromance #yafantasy #darkacademia #fantasywip #queerbooks #queerfantasy

What an excellent intro to the political machinations in the Philippines. I’ve been taught the wrong definition on “anarchism” my whole life, apparently. Community governance and mutual aid, decentralizing the powerful and keeping the power in the communities who know the needs of those most vulnerable, are the heart of this book. It’s a very different perspective from what I’ve been taught. Activist Umali shows that the Philippines have a long history of interconnected communities both within their archipelago and with nearby countries. The Spanish colonization and following US presence has enforced a strong centralized government that requires wealth to run for office and a suspicion of all dissent; but this structure has isolated the Philippines further from their previous allies in East Asia and increased wealth disparity. It’s made them dependent on the West instead. The system in place actually cracks down on free speech, especially when against those running for office. The US has even intervened when protests broke out over a corrupt presidential election. Furthermore, the way the people of the Philippines have looked at their land is in direct contrast to Western approaches; for one, they don’t see the sea as a barrier between the islands but as an extension of the land, a traveling route to their neighboring communities— and secondly, it’s the people who’ve fought the government over overfishing and pollution during mineral extraction, not the other way around. This book shows that not every country benefits from the systems the West reveres. Opening up discussion for alternatives systems of government, listening to those most affected by poor policy makers, seems less outrageous given the context. Also, apparently Magellan—the map guy from Spain— fought the Lapu-Lapu indigenous people in the 16th century on Philippine land and lost. It took about three hundred years for Spain to operate complete control over this series of islands— and a big part of that was the alliance between the Philippines and the other countries surrounding it. It’s a quick beginner’s look at the problem, but I can’t wait to read more.

Bellies by Nicola Dinan, this lovely orange cover, here being held out in a strip of sunlight next to a green plant. This books has vulerability and intimacy at its heart. It's about Ming, a Malaysian aspiring playwright in the UK, and Tom, who is white and doesn't quite know what he wants. They meet and fall in love, and as time passes Ming decides to transition. Their dynamic changes, life keeps on happening, they grow closer and apart. This books is about choosing yourself. It's about making choices, sometimes bad choices, for yourself, and I love how much space Dinan gives both Ming and Tom to be who they are and think what they think. They each get about half the book from their perspective, and I often found myself frustrated by Tom. I wanted him to think differently, do differently, but I also felt this with Ming as she makes her decisions. I love how this story shows nuance. Nuance in our identities, our relationships, our dreams. It's a book about being vulnerable, yes, but it's also about culture, heritage, passion, mental health (I really liked the depiction of OCD), grief, growing into ourselves, so much more. I spent a nearly two weeks reading it, and I'm glad I took my time. My one complaint is that the jumps in time often felt jarring, I wanted to stay longer, I felt a bit confused as to how much time had passed, but eventually I fell into the rythmn. In the end, I really loved this book and I did what I rarely do – I cried. Several times. If you haven't already, please give it a chance. I promise it's worth it! #Bellies #NicolaDinan #BelliesNicolaDinan #QueerBooks #TransBookstagram #TransBooks #QueerBookstagram #ReadQueerAllYear #ReadTransBooks #BooksRecommendation #SlowDownAndRead #BookPhotos

Excited to share this gorgeous art of my main characters Cyril and Indigo from my novel – The Lunar Heir. @septembersart did such an incredibly beautiful job! I love how vivid the colours are and the scene looks soo cozy and makes me wish to live there. All the details are just lovely; they capture the characters’ personalities so well! This is how I imagine their lives look life after they retire from a life of adventuring – living quietly in a cottage in the Fae Realm. The baby’s name is Willow and, just as Cyril always imagined, Indigo is a wonderful father. Poor Cyril can finally live the quiet life of a mage he always dreamed after years of trauma (that I put him through, whoops). #epicfantasy #fantasy #queerbooks #readtransbooks #transwriters #fantasy #romantasy #writerscommunity #gaybooks #mmromance #fantasyromance #characterart #artcommission

Who else makes up magic words for their fantasy novels? I’ve always loved fantasy worlds where the author created their own language and spellcasting terms – like Tolkien. I also love studying linguistics, so the nerd within me compels me. In this scene, the suffix '-loth' indicates a command. The nestari (tieflings in my book) cast their spells through glyphs carved into their horns -- like how humans would use a wand or staff. Ok, so the #transrightsreadathon was last week, but I’m carrying it into this week because I didn’t have a lot of reading time last week, and I’m really excited to keep reading these books. As usual when I’m busy, I can’t choose so I end up reading a million books at a time. Here’s what I’m working my way through this week: Love & Other Disasters - I’m not very far in this one yet, but I can see it being my kind of romance book! Our two love interests are competitors on a reality cooking show, and that is literally all I know so far. I’m hoping this will be a great one to curl up with before bed in the coming days. The Subtweet - This is my current audiobook, and I’m super intrigued by it! It’s a quick read (the audiobook is 5 hours) about a very messy friendship between two women in the music industry that gets derailed because of, you guessed it, a subtweet. It’s not blowing my mind, but I’m excited to see how things end up between our two main characters. Light from Uncommon Stars - My husband got this for me for Christmas, and I’m really, really enjoying it. The sci-fi elements have only been hinted at so far, and I truly have no idea where this story is going. I think this will be my priority this week, because I need to know what happens next. And that’s it! I’m trying to be optimistic and tell myself that I can finish all of these this week, but we will see where the road takes us!

I saw @willo_glenn do this and thought it was such a fun idea, so I made one for Indigo! (The last one is my favorite.) 🏳️‍⚧️ 2024 Trans Rights Readathon 🏳️‍⚧️ What a week!! Initially, I set out to read 5 books, but only ended up finishing 3 and, unsurprisingly, deviated from my reading list 🫣 Of the books I finished, I Keep My Exoskeletons to Myself was my favorite and is a contender for my favorite book of the month (full review coming!!!) Finished -I Keep My Exoskeletons to Myself by Marisa (Mac) Crane -Meet Cute Diary by Emery Lee -What Feasts at Night by T. Kingfisher In-progress -Hell Followed With Us by Andrew Joseph White -[a Saint Martin’s Press imprint audiobook] Soft DNF (for now) -Be Not Afraid of Love by Mimi Zhu - I’m not in a headspace to read this. It’s really good and I’ll finish it soon, just not in the immediate future. -The Salt Grows Heavy by Cassandra Khaw - I wasn’t feeling the writing style when I started it, but the premise is sooooo interesting! Will definitely be revisiting later this year. I’ll be finishing both in-progress titles today, which is why I donated $50 to the TGI Network of Rhode Island! ($10 for every readathon book I finished) Seeing folks post recommendations and their reads throughout the week helped me realize that I haven’t read as many books by trans authors, especially trans authors of color, and stories centered around trans characters as I thought. I love reading diverse books and one thing I strive for is to be intentional with the books I read and I’m holding myself accountable to do better and truly diversify my shelves and reading habits.

RETHINKING NORMAL 🩵🩷🤍 I randomly inherited a bunch of books for my classroom library. Some books were titles I already had, some were way too old or odd for freshmen, and some were just random. But then some were in that sweet spot of I don't have this/ haven't heard of this/ it's a good find. This book was right in this sweet spot. This was a great, short and sweet memoir about a trans girl coming of age and coming into her fullest self. I admit that this book represents a gap in reading that I know I need to fill. Reading this was a great reminder of why. This is definitely a great addition to any high school classroom library. #classroomlibraries #classroomlibraryrecs #classroomlibrary #rethinkingnormal #katiehill #katierainhill #highschoolela #hsela #2ndaryela #secondaryela #readtransbooks #transreadathon . . . . . . . . 📙 Happy Trans Day of Visibility to all of us. Wherever we are. 🏳️‍⚧️ • My copy of Blood Orange by Yaffa arrived just in time for me to spend some quality time with it today. So thankful to have this collection of poems in hand by trans Muslim Palestinian writer Yaffa. So this is where I'll be if ya need me. ✌🏼 • As always, Trans folks have always been and will always be. We're not a fad, we're not new, and we certainly aren't going anywhere. • Shout-out to @sim_bookstagrams_badly for putting me onto this one! • • • • • 🏷️ #transdayofvisibility🏳️‍⚧️ #transrights #transrightsarehumanrights #transrightsreadathon #transpeopleexist #transnonbinary #queerandproud #readtransbooks #transwriters #poetrycollection

📚Book Review📚 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #TransRightsReadathon I only managed to complete two books for the #TRR24 this week, but have many more to continue reading all year. “You Made a Fool of Death with Your Beauty” by Akwaeke Emezi was a messy, beautiful, and compelling romance. Emezi’s gift of writing across multiple genres with vivid characters is exceptional. After reading “Bitter”, I was eager to jump into another book by the author, so decided to put “The Deep” on a short pause. Feyi was an endearing main character that struggled to grow through her past grief, which was still haunting her present. Watching her work through these struggles was difficult at times, but completely understandable. Her friendship with Joy was so great; I really loved their chemistry and banter. I’ll avoid mentioning the other characters to avoid accidental spoilers, but will say that the combinations of key characters, events, and a new setting helped Feyi continue to heal and move on. That was beautiful to see, despite the chaos that ensues in the process. It was full of all sorts of rollercoaster moments, so be prepared! I would’ve liked more of the story taking place in the “after” portion of the book, but it also ended where it made the most sense. Overall, I’m definitely a fan of Emezi’s writing and look forward to starting “The Death of Vivek Oji” in the near future. *** QOTD: Have you discovered any relatively new to you authors recently? Any bookish recommendations? *** [ID and tags in the comments]

Well, @rileynashbooks has done it again. I read Bad Dogs and Pretty Dogs back to back in like 48 hours, finished in a puddle of tears 😭, and I AM OBSESSED. These were my last two reads for #transrightsreadathon, and they were just SO perfect. EPIC found family, incredibly nuanced characters with all kinds of rep, and just the most perfect romance 🫠🫠. Both couples in the books are struggling financially and living on the wrong side of town. Bad Dogs tells the story of Roman and Scout in an interesting take on the typical camboy/BDSM romance. Scout recruits Roman to act as his sub for his p0rn channel, but he ends up falling for Roman while he (literally) helps him find his voice. Pretty Dogs is a best friends to lovers story - Dallas and Beck have been roommates for years, secretly pining but afraid to lose their friendship. When they finally realize that they have feelings for each other, they work together to find some truly creative ways to protect their future together. While all of the guys have horrible backstories, they are all able to intuit each other's needs so well and get themselves out of some awful situations. Roman and Scout really find each other and themselves through their dom/sub relationship. Roman's experience with selective mutism is also SO well done; somehow he and Scout always figure out a way to communicate whether Roman is able to actually speak or not. Pretty Dogs focuses on Beck trying to break free of a gang he's been involved in for most of his life, while Dallas tries to navigate being in a relationship for the first time as a trans man. While they are both so uncertain at first, once they learn that they can truly trust each other's words, bodies, and intentions, they both end up feeling safe for the first time in years. Though both of these books are gritty and raw, the writing is gorgeous and the romance is so swoony 🥹. This book has some of the BEST found family vibes I've ever read - these guys only have each other, but they will all sacrifice literally anything for their friendship. I'm really looking forward to more from this series (Theo's book?!), I'm SO into it and Riley's writing in general. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Today is International Transgender Day of Visibility 🏳️‍⚧️ I value and respect the trans people in my life and believe all trans people have a right to exist, live their lives, and be treated with kindness. I waited patiently for Pageboy to be available at my library and finally got my hands on it. I love memoirs, they are such a good way to get perspectives and understanding about people who are different from me. I’m also a fan of the series The Umbrella Academy on Netflix so I was way curious and eager to read this. #readtransbooks #transauthor #ilovebooks

Happy Trans Day of Visibility! 🏳️‍⚧️ The International Transgender Day of Visibility (TDOV) is an annual day of recognition, celebrated around the world on March 31st, which is dedicated to celebrating the accomplishments and victories of transgender and gender-expansive people, while simultaneously raising awareness of the work that is still needed to combat discrimination and violence. As of March 2024 there 489 active anti-trans bills proposed in the United States. The number of anti-trans bills considered across the U.S. has broken records for four consecutive years. Anti trans bills have grown from the hundereds to 500+ in 2024 so far. It is important now more than ever that we utilize the power of media: books, social media, community, and connection to fight against these oppressive systems. We in the book community have changed the tides of an entire industry—we can do the same for our fellow human. One “small” act makes the world of a difference. What can we do? 1. READ TRANS ALL YEAR! 2. FOLLOW AND ENGAGE WITH TRANS CREATORS 3. STAY AWARE AND INFORMED 4. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL TRANS LED & CENTERED ORGS (Taken from @transrightsreadathon, give them a follow!) #TDoV #readtransbooks #readtransauthors #readqueer #supportqueerartists #bookstagram

Today is Transgender Day Of Visibility 🏳️‍⚧️ As a community we strive to create a space where everyone feels welcome and included. A place where we can learn from each other and from books about experiences other than our own, to create safer spaces in STEM and everywhere else in our lives for trans and non-binary people. 🏳️‍⚧️💛🤍💜🖤 Today and every day, let’s continue to amplify the voices of the trans community, by reading and sharing our favourite trans stories and authors and creating an inclusive environment in our STEM spaces. 🔬🧫🔭 Here’s some easy steps you can take as a cis person to make things more inclusive in your field of work or study: 💬use the correct pronouns for people and correct yourself and others when making mistakes 🧑‍🔬include your pronouns in your email signature, on presentations and anywhere else that gives you the option. Introduce yourself with your pronouns while making it clear you don’t expect others to share theirs unless they’re comfortable to do so. A pronoun pin on your lanyard or lab coat (I love the ones from @jamiebgall) is also a great option! 💻if you notice trans exclusionary language in any trainings or documents, raise it with the responsible (i.e. only referring to men and women or forms that require you to tick male or female without any gender neutral options) There are so many ways cis people can be better allies in STEM spaces and our lives in general, so please feel free to leave more suggestions in the comments as well as your favourite trans books and authors! 🏳️‍⚧️ #ScientistsWhoRead #ScienceAndFiction #BookNerd #BookClub #CurrentlyReading #BookClubsOfInstagram #Scientist #StillAScientist #Science #STEM #ScientistsOfInstagram #WomenInSTEM #WomenInScience #PhDStudent #ScienceCommunity #STEMStudent #GradStudent #ScienceStudent #SciArt #SciComm #ScienceIsForEveryone #PrideInSTEM #TransBooks #TransAuthors #TransDayOfVisibility #ReadTransBooks #ScientistsWhoReadTransBooks #TransInSTEM #TDOV

Here is my #TransRightsReadathon wrap-up! I read 6 books and started 2 others. One I started was an audiobook that I stopped because I just was not in the mood for an audiobook. The other book, I'm still reading and that is Unlearning Shame by Devon Price. For my completed books: two of them were middle grade, one was poetry, a manga memoir, and two horror novellas. And it gave me a bingo (two if you count books for more than one prompt!). That makes a total of $36 that I will be giving to My Sistah's House Memphis.  - Falling Back in Love with Being Human by Kai Cheng Thom 3.75⭐️ - What Moves the Dead by T Kingfisher 5⭐️ - A Touch of Ruckus by Ash Van Otterloo 4.5⭐️ - The Woods All Black by Lee Mandelo 4.5⭐️ - Until I Love Myself: The Journey of a Nonbinary Manga Artist by Poppy Pesuyama 4⭐️ - The Tea Dragon Society by K O'Neill 4.5⭐️ Also, if you want a shirt like this (while also supporting a trans person in the bookish community), you can buy one from @bookstagramrepresent !! [Image descriptions: The first picture focuses in on someone outside holding the stack of books listed above. They have on a shirt that says "read trans books". In the next picture, zoomed out further, Bek (a white nonbinary person with blue and green hair with glasses) smiles and holds the stack of books, wearing that shirt. The last picture shows the @transrightsreadathon bingo board with the far right column and the bottom row crossed through with a green and a purple line. Other prompts have transparent lines through them but do not make a bingo.] #bookstagram #wrapup #transbooks #readtransbooks #bookstack #transbookstack #lgbtbooks #middlegrade #nonfiction #horror

Time for my #TransRightsReadathon wrap up! I was able to get 5 books read in the past week for the readathon! -Lark and Kasim Start a Revolution by Kacen Callender - I’m Afraid of Men by Vivek Shraya - Don’t Call Us Dead by Danez Smith - Shubeik Lubeik by Deena Mohamed - Coffee Boy by Austin Chant I enjoyed all of these books! My favorite from this week was probably Lark and Kasim Start a Revolution but I also really enjoyed Don’t Call Us Dead and I’m Afraid of Men! As many other wonderful folks on bookstagram have said, please don’t stop reading Trans authors and Trans stories just because the readathon is over! These stories exist for a reason and I hope everyone found some great books and authors to add to their TBR list! Feel free to share any of the books or authors you’ve added to your list in the comments! I will be donating $75 to both the Gender Health Center and the Transgender Law Center! I picked these two organizations because while I think it is important to support folks doing great work for Trans people in my community I also feel lucky enough to live in a somewhat more accepting place than other Trans folks so I want to make sure my contribution also goes to the places that need it most! 🏳️‍⚧️💕 #readingwrapup #bookishpost #readtransallyear #readqueerallyear #readtransbooks #readingupdate #nonbinarybooksta #blackbookstagrammer #transbookstagram #booksovereverything #booksbooksbooks #diversifyyourbookshelf

Who’s your favourite trans author? And a book you love from them? Full title and author, as always, please and thank you. Today is the International Day of Trans Visibility and I wanted to show off one of my absolute favourites, who often gets missed in trans book stacks, and book recs. Jen Wilde is a fellow Aussie, and a fellow enby (that is so cool to say, ngl), and I’ve loved her books since their first one came out. Each book she writes holds a special place in my heart, and I’ll literally read anything they publish. Her next book is their first middle grade book and it comes out super soon! The only book of theirs missing from here is their newest YA book, and it’s only missing because of the SMP boycott. But I do encourage y’all to read everything Jen writes – her books are all amazing and fast paced, and just speak to my nerdy soul. Plus, Jen is just an incredible person too? I’m so happy for her, and the books they write. I’m definitely needing to talk more about them in future. So, the books, from left to right are: Queens of Geek The Brightsiders Going Off Script If you’re reading this, drink some water. * Trans Day of Visibility – Trans Love – Trans Author Love – Read Queer – Aussie Authors – Avid Reader – Always Reading – Read Diversely * #LMSMarch2024 day 31 trans book love * [Image description: the three books lie in a staircase formation on a white surface, all of their covers are facing the camera. Trans Rights Read-a-Thon 2024 That’s a wrap on the 2024! I didn’t read as much as I hoped but I’ve been sick and sleeping. I’m currently finishing the audiobook of The Diablo’s Curse by @thegabecole and the physical book The Sunbearer Trials by @aidenschmaiden Both amazing, which is not surprising. People keep comparing The Sunbearer Trials to the Hunger Games but it’s giving more TriWizard tournament on steroids. The Diablo’s Curse is a treasure hunt with a Diablo and a boy falling for each other. Being read by the wickedly talented @puertoricaninja I loved rereading the first 5 volumes of Lumberjanes by @gingerhazing Manhunt by @gretchenfelkermartin was haunting, weird and so good. I love reading Trans/Queer books all year round. It’s currently my number genre on StoryGraph I’m proud to donate to MATA via @outreachlgbtq ach I’m gonna finish these books then finish the Vermilion Emporium by @jamiepacton #readtrans #readtransbooks #readtransauthors #readqueerallyear #transrightsreadathon #transrightsarehumanrights

I've officially completed the two audiobooks I wanted to read for this year's #TransRightsReadathon, AND thanks to some very generous donations, we've beat my goal and raised $136 for @thecenterproject 🎉 . Thank you so, so much to everyone who donated or interacted with my fundraiser posts — I appreciate you all and am so grateful to have such wonderful folks in my circles ❤️ I'll leave the fundraiser up through the weekend in case this post gets served up to more of you and anyone wants to get in some last-minute donations! . Review of THE UNBROKEN coming soon, but I'm pet sitting for several days so I'm giving absolutely no guarantees on a date for that lol. My fifth read for the #TransRightsReadathon was In Deeper Waters by F.T. Lukens! I was so absorbed in this one, I completely forgot to take any quotes away from it. I’ll definitely be re-reading it in future, anyways, as I had so much fun. The romance was adorable! I loved them together, they were very wholesome and sweet, I can see this being a comfort read for me. The family relationships, especially the sibling relationships, were so supportive and lovely, too. Tal, especially, was my favourite. I loved how much he cared for others, especially his family, that he often put them over himself, even when he thought they didn’t care for him. It’s very silly, in some places, the world building isn’t great (and some areas underdeveloped, especially the politics of the world, which were introduced but not expanded on any further), and some parts were a little too convenient but it was so enjoyable, I didn’t really mind. So was this book perfect? No. Did I absolutely love it? Yes. Am I going to read everything this author has written so far? Absolutely, yes. #InDeeperWaters #FTLukens #TransReadathon #TransRightsReadathon24 #TransReadathon24 #TransBooks #ReadTransBooks

WRAP UP TIME! Trans Rights Readathon was such a delight! I kind made a list of books before it started, but forgot to save the note and all plans morphed into the usual mood-reading stuff. First, on the first day I finished two books I was in the middle of. Funny thing is, all the books I took with myself to uni were trans... I succesfully finished Boundless right before lunch and then breezed through the delight full of rage that was Iron Widow. To move away from SFF, I the picked up Chef's Choice and managed to read it in one day. Lesbiana's Guide to Catholic School was next and it took me Sunday and Monday to read. And then the heavy weights in the form of Tell Me I'm Worthless. I have to admit I struggled with it and I don't reccomend it, but not because it was badly written. No, it was just completely horrific, more than I expected... Horror. Yesterday, I though it was the last day because I didn't check the instructions, so I reread Supertajný seznam věcí for the prompt 'Local setting'. Then I checked TRR's page and noticed there's one more day and finally picked up The Sunbearer Trial. This might be my most read pages in a week (without fanfics, duh). And honestly? I surprused myself with how many books I read. Of course, even one trans book is better than none and I hope to continue with as many as possible all year round. Also, speaking of fanfics, I got to reread my fav trans!Anakin fic and it was such a delight! Hehehe. #trr2024 #transrightsreadathon #transrightsreadathon2024 #transbooks #transliterature #queerbooks #lgbtbooks #readtransbooks #reading #readingwrapup #readathon #bookrecommendations #bookrecs

What is a book with a trans main character you’ve read and enjoyed? Full title and author, please. Even though the trans rights readathon is over, there are still plenty of amazing trans books in the world to love and enjoy! I didn’t get a chance to post this carousel while the readathon was happening, so I thought I’d do it as a read trans all year long post instead. All of the books shown have at least one trans main character in them. This is not a comprehensive list of all of the trans books I have read, but are ones I wanted to feature. There are some I wanted to show off, but sadly they fall under the current SMP boycott. The books shown are: Slide 2: I Was Born For This by Alice Oseman Dreadnought by April Daniels Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas Slide 3: Pet by Akwake Emezi Bianca Torre Is Afraid of Everything by Justine Pucella Winans Always The Almost by Edward Underhill Slide 4: Love and Other Disasters by Anita Kelly A Lady For A Duke by Alexis Hall Second Chances In New Port Stephen by TJ Alexander Slide 5: It Goes Like This by Miel Moreland The One True Me And You by Remi K. Trans Rights Readathon Wrap-Up 🏳️‍⚧️💕 These are the books I finished during the readathon from the 22nd to today! All of these were ebooks save for Hijab Butch Blues, which I bought the other day! 🥰 - The Salt Grows Heavy - Upright Women Wanted - Stay Gold 🖤 - When the Moon Was Ours - Hijab Butch Blues 🖤 The ones with the hearts are my most recommended for you to try out for yourselves! In addition to the reading and sharing of trans/nb/genderqueer stories/authors, I’ve donated to a local-to-me charity called Trans Maryland and was matched by two friends! ♥️ I’m so thankful for this experience and can’t wait for next year’s readathon. Let’s all keep reading trans stories all year round! 🏳️‍⚧️ #bookstagram #transbooks #queerbooks #reading #read #readtransbooks #reads #books #booklover #bookworm #book #reader #readmore #readmorebooks

Last day of the the #TransRightsReadathon 🫶 I enjoy this readathon so much. While it’s happening at a time that is busy and chaotic for me every year, I still try to set some dedicated time aside and read some phenomenal trans books and engage with the community. So far, I’ve finished Falling Back In Love With Being Human by @kaichengthom (ty ty to my sweet friend @thenursereader for the copy) and I’m almost done with Thunder Song by @sashalapointe (two-spirit author) & Boys Weekend by @mattielubchansky ( #gifted) I have truly believe that some, if not all, of these will end up in my favorites for the year. Lastly, thank you so much to everyone who donated to my fundraiser for @southernequality. I will be donating my $50 after the readathon ends. Additionally, while no one has specifically donated yet to TransOhio and National Black Trans Advocacy Coalition, I will be donating $25 to them each regardless of my previously stated “matching.” Can’t wait to see what y’all read and loved and hope to do this again with you all next year. And a huge thank you to @transrightsreadathon for hosting! [ID: a white hand holds Boys Weekend, Thunder Song, and Falling Back In Love With Being Human in front of some houseplants.]
