💬 What is your most anticipated release for the rest of the spring? These are the new releases I’m more excited about. I know Funny Story already came out a few days ago but I couldn’t make this list without including it because I really can’t wait to get my hands on it. I got eARCs for the other four—I actually finished Evocation today and I’ll be posting my review on Goodreads in a couple of days! And the only reason why I haven’t read the fifth installment in the Singing Hills Cycle is that I love the audiobooks of that series so much that I’m patiently waiting for release day so I can physically read it while listening to it 🤍 Do you want to read any of these new titles?

. . . @melanie_harlow @newtoncomptoneditori #bookstagram #books #booklover #bookish #bookstagrammer #bookworm #romancebooks #romanticsuspense #readersofinstagram #bookreview #popularbooks #booksbooksbooks #ioleggoromance #bookcommunity #aestheticbooks #bookstagramwrapped #romcombooks #bookstagramitalia #readingwrapup #booktok #aestheticbooks

✨️APRIL WRAP UP✨️ We're speeding towards summer and almost in May already. Soo many good reads this month, including several new releases I have been waiting for... (shoutout to @authorlenahendrix and @kandisteiner who smashed it out of the park again!) But... my pick of the month has to go to ✨️Bridesmaid for Hire by Meghan Quinn✨️ Such a good read from start to finish, I was laughing out loud for probably 50% of the book. One of my new favourites from the queen @meghanquinnbooks ! Happy Spring everyone!💐🌻🌷🌺 #April #readingwrapup #romantic #comedy #contemporary #sports #botm #fiction #allthefeels #readingisfun #readmorein2024

When looking at these numbers, here are some things to know: 1) I read a lot! 2) I use the current purchasing price for the format I consumed the media in. So, if I were to buy that audiobook right now and NOT download it from Hoopla, how much would I pay? That is the price I record. The same for other formats. 3) This is a base total. It doesn't included taxes or shipping obviously. So, when you think of it, this is the "lower" number of what I saved. Libraries are useful resources guys! They are worth it. #libraryfun #whatireadthismonth #whatireadthisweek #readingwrapup #bookmaddicts #libraryhaul #bookyhaul #booklovers #booksale #useyourlibraries

april recap 🫶🧁🤸‍♀️🛼🫧🏄‍♀️ hi besties!! since April is coming to an end, I wanted to recap on what this month looked like for me by sharing a photo dump & my reads. While it started off slow reading wise, I read some amazing books: - just for the summer - a court of mist and fury - binding 13 - funny story - Malibu rising Acomaf put me in a big slump, which is why this month was slow for me. It was still an amazing month though seeing as I had 3 five star reads in a row (b13, funny story, & Malibu rising), which I am so happy about. I have not stopped thinking about these books since I read them- I feel like the best reads are the ones that surprise you, and Funny Story & Malibu Rising did that for me. Nina Riva is a new soul character; I understand her on a personal level. I was also very surprised with Funny Story. I haven’t had the best history with Emily Henry books, so when I picked this up, I told myself if I wasn’t feeling it in the first 50 pages, I could put it down. But by the first 10 pages I knew it was going to be a new 5 star read. It felt different from Emily’s other books, which is why I think it worked better for me. I’m currently reading Tweet Cute and really enjoying it. I feel like as soon as it gets warm out I crave the feeling of a YA romance, and this is doing everything it’s supposed to. I’m also hoping to finish Powerful as soon as I get it. Overall, this has been such a good month of books for me & I couldnt be happier 🫶 What was the best book you read this month? If I had to choose I’d say Malibu Rising 🏄‍♀️ 🏷️ April, April books, spring books, reading wrap up, reading recap, book recs, romance book, YA romance, photo dump, emily Henry, book bouquet, books and flowers, #bookhaul #readingwrapup #readingwrapped #aprilrecap #springbooks #summerbooks #romance #romancebooks #bookbouquet

✨APRIL READING WRAP-UP✨ We are finally at the end of April and LET ME TELL YOU… I’ve had a rough reading month. I was in a reading slump basically this entire month, so here’s to hoping for a better reading month in May🤗 A breakdown of how I rate books is below: ★ - DNF’d but made it to 70% or above, just couldn’t force myself to finish it ★★ - Finished it but really wished I had DNF’d ★★★ - I really enjoyed it. It was a middle of the road type of read for me. I would still recommend but there were just some aspects that irked me personally or that I would have changed ★★★★ - Loved it but some aspect was missing that didn’t give me that five star feel ★★★★★ - Literally living in my mind rent free and has now become my entire personality Reminder that reading is subjective, and I rate my reads based off of vibes 🫶🏼 #booknook #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #booksta #bookaesthetic #tbr #girlswhoread #bookcommunity #reading #bookdragon #bookobsessed #books #bookrecommendations #bookish #bookaddict #romance #darkromance #kindle #kindleunlimited #spicybooks #bookreviewer #romancebooks #bookreview #readingwrapup #aprilreadingwrapup #monthlywrapup #arc #advancedreaderscopy

A TALENT FOR MURDER by Peter Swanson Pub date: June 11, 2024 Genre: Mystery Thriller Suspense Martha Ratliff conceded long ago that she’d likely spend her life alone. She was fine with it, happy with her solo existence, stimulated by her job as an archival librarian, constantly surrounded by thought-provoking ideas and the books she loved. But then she met Alan, a charming and sweet-natured divorcee with a job that took him on the road for half the year. When he asked her to marry him, she said yes, even though he still felt a little bit like a stranger. A year in and the marriage was good, except for that strange blood streak on the back of one of his shirts he’d worn to a conference in Denver. Her curiosity turning to suspicion, Martha investigates the cities Alan visited over the past year and uncovers a disturbing pattern—five unsolved cases of murdered women. Is she married to a serial killer? Or could it merely be a coincidence? Unsure what to think, Martha contacts an old friend from graduate school for advice. Lily Kintner once helped Martha out of a jam with an abusive boyfriend and may have some insight. Intrigued, Lily offers to meet Alan to find out what kind of man he really is . . . but what Lily uncovers is more perplexing and wicked than they ever could have expected. 🎯❓🎯❓QoTD: Do you stream Murder Mystery series / Crime dramas? REMARKABLY BRIGHT CREATURES by: Shelby Van Pelt ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 Genre: Contemporary fiction Magical Realism Literary Fiction Pages: 360 pages | Current GR rating: 4.40 My thoughts: A highly intelligent giant octopus surpassing human intellect, a grieving mother absorbed in daily routines, and a 30-year-old man navigating life’s uncertainties are unexpectedly united by fate, the purpose of which only time will reveal. The plot is captivating, feeling incredibly human despite being classified within the genre of magical realism. The writing style is straightforward and descriptive, incorporating humor without unnecessary complexity. It reads like listening to someone narrate a personal story—a tale that subtly convinces the listener that forming relationships with non-humans could be plausible. “Remarkably Bright Creatures” is a moving narrative that reminds us that life has its magical way of tying up loose ends. It’s a story that’s thought-provoking with a friendly and positive tone. However, some parts left me wanting more closure. Yet, adding extra details might have been too much. Overall, it’s an inspiring read, especially when life feels tough to overcome. 🎯❓🎯❓QoTD: Have you read a fiction book on animals? #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bibliophile #bookblogger #bookishlife #instareads #bookrecs #bookish #bookworm #booknerd #booksbooksbooks #readersofinstagram #readersgonnaread #readerlife #bookishlove #readingwrapup #bookifywrapped #RemarkablyBrightCreatures

Skye Falling by Mia McKenzie 4.5⭐️ Skye left Philly on the first thing smoking when she turned 18, returning to recharge for only a few weeks between destinations, but when a bit of the past catches up with her, she has to decide if the life she's living is actually the life she wants. Skye has to be one of the most socially awkward and hilarious nearly middle aged characters I've ever read. She is incredibly flawed, but that's what makes watching her grow so captivating. I loved the irreverent writing style, with occasional breaks in the 4th wall, and how I could see all the scenes playing out so clearly. The side characters were pretty well developed, and Vicky is hilarious! I was barking laughter and nearly doing spit takes, and just about ready to cry a few pages later. The story is a little slow moving, but that worked for me in this context, and I would happily read another book by this author. Thanks for the recommendation @allthebooksalltheways! QOTD: Have you ever had a conversation about an event from your past, and realized that you remember it very differently from the other person?

🌸 March Reading Wrapup 🌸 Yes, March, not April…I’m a little behind with posts. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I used to always have peaks & valleys with reading and I seem to be returning to that rhythm after several years of heavy reading. That’s ok, just has taken a little time to feel like myself with it again. Even though it was a low reading month, March was also a really ‘successful’ reading month. I read four books, all of which hit a category I particularly enjoy and/or was hoping to work on. SUMMER STAGE by Meg Mitchell Moore (backlist read from a favorite author) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Very good, actually can’t remember why I didn’t give it 5 stars now THE FURY by Alex Michaelides (mystery/thriller) ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 Really enjoyed despite several issues with the writing/ storytelling; still recommend THE WOMEN by Kristin Hannah (anticipated release; long library wait 😉) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I expected to love it even more, but very good I’M GLAD MY MOM DIED by Jennette McCurdy (non-fiction/memoir) N/R Impactful, well done April has been a similar month - let’s see when I post that wrap up… 😁 #readingwrapup #monthlyreadingwrapup #readersofinstagram

April wrap-up As we get better organised with the podcast, we can finally spend most of our time on what we enjoy the most, i.e. reading 😀 So besides exploring the world of 20th century books, we continue keeping an open mind and read contemporary fiction. - The Power (2016), by Naomi Alderman (a disappointing read unfortunately, loved the premise of this but didn’t like the execution) - Black Butterflies (2022), by Priscilla Morris (such a beautiful and heartbreaking story, resonates a lot with the state of our world right now) - Good Bones (1992), by Margaret Atwood: extraordinarily witty short fiction. Review soon to be posted on our grid - In Memoriam (2023) by Alice Winn (happy to have finally read this book, absolutely loved it) - The Marriage Portrait (2022), by Maggie O’Farrell: gripping, and as always with M. O’ Farrell this magical use of the langage that gets you immersed in Renaissance Italy games of power between duchies - The Great Gatsby (1925), by Fitzgerald: dazzling and poignant. It’s made it to my list of favourite books ever! - Tender is the Night (1934), by Fitzgerald: darker and heavier than Gatsby, but you get a good idea of Fitzgerald’s world of parties and dealing with his wife’s mental illness. Any new favourites this month? Gwen & Mimi

March Wrap-up My thoughts: I'm still in a reading slump, but The Letters of Enchantment duology (Divine Rivals & Ruthless Vows) was addictive and a true page turner. I recommend it for anyone (but skip if you find wartime battles and violence triggering). I loved everything about this duology, including the WW1 x fantasy vibes, typewriters, magical letters, epistolary romance, action/adventure, mystery/intrigue. Rebecca Ross’ storytelling is superb. Iris is brave and strong-willed & Roman Kitt is definitely book boyfriend material. Have you read one or both of these yet? Summers at the Saint by: Mary Kay Andrews Pub date: May 7, 2024 Genre: Romance Mystery Contemporaru Pages: 448 pages | Current GR rating: 4.23 Everyone refers to the St. Cecelia as “the Saint.” If you grew up coming here, you were “a Saint.” If you came from the wrong side of the river, you were “an Ain’t.” Traci Eddings was one of those outsiders whose family wasn’t rich enough or connected enough to vacation here. But she could work here. One fateful summer she did, and married the boss’s son. Now, she’s the widowed owner of the hotel, determined to see it return to its glory days, even as staff shortages and financial troubles threaten to ruin it. Plus, her greedy and unscrupulous brother-in-law wants to make sure she fails. Enlisting a motley crew of recently hired summer help—including the daughter of her estranged best friend—Traci has one summer season to turn it around. But new information about a long-ago drowning at the hotel threatens to come to light, and the tragic death of one of their own brings Traci to the brink of despair. Traci Eddings has her back against the pink-painted wall of this beloved institution. And it will take all the wits and guts she has to see wrongs put to right, to see guilty parties put in their place, and maybe even to find a new romance along the way. Told with Mary Kay Andrew’s warmth, humor, knack for twists, and eye for delicious detail about human nature, Summers at the Saint is a beach read with depth and heart. 🎯❓🎯❓QoTD: Where did you have your best vacation? A Love Song for Ricki Wilde by: Tia Williams Genre: Romance Historical Fiction Magical Realism Pages: 352 pages | Current GR rating: 4.09 An epic love story one hundred years in the making… Leap years are a strange, enchanted time. And for some, even a single February can be life-changing. Ricki Wilde has many talents, but being a Wilde isn’t one of them. As the impulsive, artistic daughter of a powerful Atlanta dynasty, she’s the opposite of her famous socialite sisters. Where they’re long-stemmed roses, she’s a dandelion: an adorable bloom that’s actually a weed, born to float wherever the wind blows. In her bones, Ricki knows that somewhere, a different, more exciting life awaits her. When regal nonagenarian, Ms. Della, invites her to rent the bottom floor of her Harlem brownstone, Ricki jumps at the chance for a fresh beginning. She leaves behind her family, wealth, and chaotic romantic decisions to realize her dream of opening a flower shop. And just beneath the surface of her new neighborhood, the music, stories and dazzling drama of the Harlem Renaissance still simmers. One evening in February as the heady, curiously off-season scent of night-blooming jasmine fills the air, Ricki encounters a handsome, deeply mysterious stranger who knocks her world off balance in the most unexpected way. Set against the backdrop of modern Harlem and Renaissance glamour, A Love Song for Ricki Wilde is a swoon-worthy love story of two passionate artists drawn to the magic, romance, and opportunity of New York, and whose lives are uniquely and irreversibly linked. 🎯❓🎯❓QoTD: Do you believe in soulmates? ✨Book Review Post✨ I recently finished Combat Codes and the sequel Grievar's Blood and wanted to give a little review. Just for. Context, this series was indie published back in like 2020ish but has been picked up by Orbit and those are the editions I am reading. As such book 3 in the series does not come out until December of this year. This is such a funky series, this is the first SFF series I've picked up where truly the combat is the central focus of the plot. And we are talking combat like Mortal Combat Style. The crux of this world is that all of the nations globally have come together and agreed that instead of using weapons of mass destruction they will use unarmed fighters to settle all disputes 1v1. These fighters, Grievar's, live and are trained under a set of rules known as the Combat Codes. As you start diving into the story you learn that there are systems of control in place that go beyond what is presented. Book 1 was weak for me, the concepts were there but it didn't flesh out the world as well as I would have liked and our focus on one character going through early academy training made the story feel small in scale and scope. Book 2 was a vast improvement imo, not only do we get some wonderful additional POVs that really breathed life into this world but we also have this really funky narrative which allows us to slowly put the pieces together of what's really going on. I absolutely loved how at the start of each chapter from book 1 on, there are typically passages and quotes from the "combat codes" themselves and the codes that are read to us in book 1 vs book 2 really paint a picture of the reality of how these fighters lives work. There's some funky sci-fi elements that I think are maybe too ambitious and lead to some confusion but overall really great. Book 1 was a 3 star read for me. Book 2 was a solid 4 star read for me and I will absolutely be picking up book 3 when it's published!

Caught up review 🧑🏼‍🍳⚾️🧢 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “But in an odd way, it feels like he’s still inside of me. Not physically, but as if he’s etched his way into my soul. His scent is still on my sheets as I burrow into them. His touch still singes my skin” Liz tomforde does it again in the Windy City series 😭🥹🫶🏻 In caught up Kai is a major league pitcher riding the high of his career when all of a sudden his previous girlfriend drops off a 6 month old at his apartment one day. Now a single dad looking for a travel nanny he crosses paths with Miller a world renowned pastry chef. After an awkward first encounter the two spend the summer falling despite the rules and boundaries each of them put up to prevent that exact thing This book does the nanny trope like I’ve never seen before and I actually throughly enjoyed it! Max was super cute and I really liked his relationship with miller and how the three of them were just so happy together my heart🥹🫶🏻 Also this was my first baseball romance and 😮‍💨 I will be picking up a book immediately if it has baseball in it! january reading wrap up 🦋💙🌀 posting a backlog of wrap ups to get caught up here! I didn’t read anything in march (hello slump 😵‍💫) so should be quick to get up to date. more thoughts shared on goodreads but here’s a recap: 1. loved the ending of this duology. Elm all the way 😮‍💨 2. standalone fantasy but connected to the world of Kingdom of the Wicked. fierce FMC, plot twist, and 🌶️❤️‍🔥 3. not my cup of tea. light on the fantasy, boring war plot. not really enemies to lovers (they were enemies for like 2% of the book) 4. sci-fi novella, best to go into it knowing absolutely nothing 🤌🏼 similar to the reading experience of Piranesi by Susanna Clarke 5. hot take but not my fav of the ACOTAR series. ACOMAF till I die 💘 6. challenging read. dark themes, lots of introspection (pages of monologues). rewarding nonetheless! #bookreview #bookstagram #bookrecs #booklover #readinglist #readingwrapup #monthlyreads #fantasybooks

There is an interchange in Martyr! between Cyrus and Zee that I will replay for years in my mind. Author Kaveh Akbar presses on this one little bruise - a reminder of the awkward grief of loving someone who willfully (sometimes, it feels) will not love themselves. The burden of one best friend trying to buoy another back to health. The blankness of realizing one’s dedication has been subsumed by another’s defeatism. It took me back to a few times in my teens or 20s or even more recently when I had been Zee, or maybe blindly had been Cyrus too. It’s a tricky emotional space I haven’t read much before, and it was just one of the reasons I really respected this novel. Martyr! covers a lot of ground in its swirling, time- and world-spanning narrative, on a young Iranian-American man seeking answers to the meaning of martyrdom after his life’s perceived heartbreaks. After a bit of an uneven first half, it clicked into its most poetic, meditative aspirations on purpose, art, heritage, and love. My breath fell silent as I read. My heart broke and thrilled. I loved it. It’s not a perfect story, but it’s a very worthy one. Hard to put down, and hard to shake. I look forward to its ongoing success and to anything else Akbar brings into the world.

my march wrap up ✮⋆˙🎧ᝰ.ᐟ (PLEASE don’t remind me that we are at the end of april and i haven’t gotten to the march wrap-up yet, just don’t…. HELP) — what’s one book and song that you loved in march? ᡣ𐭩ྀིྀི i was reading so much. LOVE. it was also very diverse with how the books made me feel like. ALSO so much amazing music was released this month !!! ̗̀➛ final offer • 4 (this whole series isn’t my fav, but i still enjoyed reading it …this final book is definitely my FAV) ̗̀➛ where’s molly • 3 (quick and short, nothing groundbreaking — i honestly would‘ve loved for molly to be having more than this spin-off 🥺 i wish it would‘ve delved deeper into some things. it didn‘t got to that level of haunting adeline. i enjoyed it for what it is.) ̗̀➛ bride • 4,5 !!! (first ever ali hazelwood book and i get it. this was simply the best and most fun read. it was her debut into that kind of genre and i need more IMMEDIATELY. little mystery with predictable, but addicting romance.) ̗̀➛ a false start • 3,5 (another elsie silver series finished 🥺 this one is tied with a photo finish on the bottom on this series for me, but i still enjoyed them, because elsie silver creates that kind of charm !!!! loved the wildflower references. stefan and mira are my NUMBER ONE.) ̗̀➛ butcher & blackbird • 2,5 (this one sadly wasn‘t for me. i didn‘t feel the intensity of two serial killers falling in love. the comedy aspect also didn‘t really got me. because of the time-skips i was even less connected to the characters. but i see so many people loving this book so…. it‘s probably me help) ̗̀➛ love redesigned • 4 (so far my fav book from her !! her writing definitely only gets better and i LOVE. lake wisteria with all the people in town is already so promising as a series. so excited for the next one 💜) ̗̀➛ the love hypothesis • 4,5 !!!! (after bride i badly NEEDED to read her stem books, so here i am. LOVE LOVE LOVE. this one was so fresh with its environment. adam and olive have my whole heart. i love her writing style so much, it‘s incredible.) #marchwrapup #monthlywrapup #bookstagram #books #booklover #bookcommunity #reading #readingwrapup

FUNNY STORY by: Emily Henry Genre: Romance Contemporary Fiction In the near future, a civil servant is offered the salary of her dreams and is, shortly afterward, told what project A shimmering, joyful new novel about a pair of opposites with the wrong thing in common. Daphne always loved the way her fiancé Peter told their story. How they met (on a blustery day), fell in love (over an errant hat), and moved back to his lakeside hometown to begin their life together. He really was good at telling it…right up until the moment he realized he was actually in love with his childhood best friend Petra. Which is how Daphne begins her new story: Stranded in beautiful Waning Bay, Michigan, without friends or family but with a dream job as a children’s librarian (that barely pays the bills), and proposing to be roommates with the only person who could possibly understand her predicament: Petra’s ex, Miles Nowak. Scruffy and chaotic—with a penchant for taking solace in the sounds of heart break love ballads—Miles is exactly the opposite of practical, buttoned up Daphne, whose coworkers know so little about her they have a running bet that she’s either FBI or in witness protection. The roommates mainly avoid one another, until one day, while drowning their sorrows, they form a tenuous friendship and a plan. If said plan also involves posting deliberately misleading photos of their summer adventures together, well, who could blame them? But it’s all just for show, of course, because there’s no way Daphne would actually start her new chapter by falling in love with her ex-fiancé’s new fiancée’s ex…right? 🎯❓🎯❓QoTD: Can former romantic partners remain friends? #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #bibliophile #bookblogger #bookishlife #instareads #bookrecs #bookish #bookworm #booknerd #booksbooksbooks #readersofinstagram #readersgonnaread #readerlife #bookishlove #readingwrapup #bookifywrapped #FunnyStory

𝜗𝜚. .   ˚ . I’m slowly getting back in my reading era after being in a reading slump for way too long but since 2024 started I still managed to read a couple of books! I still don’t know if I wanna do long ass reviews on my account anymore because my goldfish brain always forgets wtf happened in books. Very problematic for my too many ongoing books I haven’t picked in months… — zodiac’s academy: started this series in the end of last year and I’m currently on book 7! I really enjoyed this series, especially BlueLance. I’m currently not in the mood to continue it but I can’t wait to say I finished this very long series. — heir of fire: wasn’t a big fan of this series until this book. I’m so happy to finally get introduced to the other main characters. I absolutely enjoyed the banter between Aelin and Rowan, I hope it doesn’t go away. I was mad SJM gave another useless romance to Dorian like it’s all he is. I can not wait to get more of him as an actual character in queen of shadows. — love redesigned: I always enjoy Lauren’s books and this one is no exception. Name the male lead Julian and I’ll eat the story up. — wild love: my dumbass never considered reading this book because it was pink… thank god I did. I got hooked with Rosie and Ford so quickly! The way Ford speaks about Rosie… lord help me. 😮‍💨  Let me know if you read any of these and what you thought! 🫶🏼 #bookstagram #readingwrapup #monthlyreads #booklover #bookrecommendations #bookreviews #bookstagrammer #bookexplorepage #readingupdate
