Happy March my friends! We made it to spring!🌷 . Today I am feeling down in all the aspects, and I know that working in this tired state won't yield anything good. So instead I am resting, eating nourishing food and planning what to make next. . In this video (from yesterday) you can see me melting a bunch of silver scraps and also finishing my can of gas that's on its last drops. You can see me opening the valve more and more to get an optimal flame for melting because the gas is almost out. Its like achieving two things in one step! Swipe to see a silver nugget as a result. I thrive on the different!☮️ Funny story: My first day of probably my 10th grade year, a guy thought I was a foreign exchange student because I had a short pink/blue plaid skirt with knee high socks on & penny loafers! I started talking & he expected an accent! 😂😂😂 And I glued daisy flowers to my jeans! Some people laughed & others loved them! But I saw them in a teen magazine for $80 & I was 16 so I made them myself! Always thrifty! I was called the 90210 girl! Because I always had something different on! Today's not the day! (Not feeling it) 🥴🥴🥴 Hello family! I am tired! I am drained! It's exhausting! I don't feel like doing a thing! Allow me be! Can it just stop! 😔😔😔 Ha! Today's definitely not the day! Ever felt like giving up? Tired of the everyday activities? Long awaited expectations not met? Tired of trying all you can and still no concrete feedback? All of my trimmings, unfired clay bits that have had mistakes or for whatever reason did not make to the kiln, gets recycled. My favourite way of recycling is by soaking the clay until it has ‘melted’ and then I blend it up with a delightful stick mixer! Ramen deep Singh very thought provoking. All to often as a society we forget that we are part of that community that social presence. If we carry hurt or judgements we view our world through them. If we base our interaction only on our own experiences then we are expecting others to conform or be excluded. If we are tired and do not allow peaceful repair as part of our own expectations then this too impacts others. As a society we are part of the driving force where kindness to self and others lies. Days like today are what matter. I could easily and quickly make myself feel better by doing what I’ve always done. Restrict, hustle, push, overextend. Ignore hunger, ignore tiredness, get validation by smashing a to-do list and helping others before myself. Change happens in the seconds an unconscious thought is illuminated just enough to choose a different way. To eat that extra snack (despite only have eaten an hour ago). To close my eyes for 15mins (even though this is my window when Arvey is napping and I could work). To celebrate ticking these invisible items off my to-do list (because they’re just as important as mopping the floors or doing course modules). What the medicine of rest looks like. Sadly it’s not something that I’m naturally programmed to do, even when I need it most. If you’re like me, you even want your “rest” to feel productive. That’s why I found myself turning my restorative sound healing nourishment time into this IG post.🤣 I did get a good rest first, though. What keeps you from resting when you’re tired❓ What is your “go-to” restful body shape❓ “Caregiver’s Pose” or Supported Bound Angle Pose is one of my favorite shapes to put my body into, with the intention of receiving the nourishment of rest. When we rest, we activate the parasympathetic nervous system for down regulation. We support immune system function. We allow fresh blood to circulate throughout the body. And we give ourselves time to process all the stimulus we are constantly bombarded with. 😴 Bottom line, give yourself permission to rest when you’re tired. (Of course there are times when we simply can’t rest because of life’s responsibilities. 🛑Are you having a red light day? ⚡️As we move into a busier season, it’s easy to take on too much. Here are a few ideas for developing your energy awareness skills to build, manage and restore your energy levels. 👣Start each day by grounding yourself so that your energy doesn’t dissipate as easily - bring awareness to your connection to the earth through the feet or seat. Move the feet and legs! ⚡️Practice an “energy check in”- just sit and feel the pulse of energy moving in your body, your breath. Choose a number from 1-10 that represents your energy level. 🚦If numbers aren’t your thing, try the traffic light approach. Determine whether you’re having a red, yellow or green light kind of day and make decisions based on that. ⚡️Begin to notice the activities, environments, and people that drain your reserves, and budget a counter activity that helps you fill up your energetic well. ✏️Write it down! I journal every day. It’s like leaving bread-crumbs for your future self to navigate life more gracefully. ⚡️Build your prana or life force through breathing, movement, mudras, and awareness practices. Remember, “where awareness goes, energy flows.” * Inhale - feel the energy expand and rise * Exhale - allow the energy to ground into the container of your body and the earth below. 💤Give yourself permission to rest, supporting immune system function. Remember “all healing begins in rest.” You are being productive by allowing your body to rest! 🥕Eat fresh nutritious foods high in prana - whole foods, fruits and veggies as close to their origin source as possible. Permission to take intermission Our culture loves the hustle. We sometimes make propel who are not naturally inclined to hustle feel like there is something wrong with them. We reward hustlers with a badge of honor and prestige. Are you a “good hustler?” Is your identity caught up in being busy, working hard and modeling productivity? The truth is, living that ways isn’t sustainable. Eventually, a life defined by productivity makes us miserable. Having a hyper productive work ethic can cause us to become physically ill and chronically anxious. On the other hand, when we give ourselves permission to take regulate rest, take on fewer projects, and have boundaries around hustling, our minds become clearer, our bodies become more relaxed, and our lives less stressed. Saying no to stuff you don’t have time for in favor of rest means you will occasionally disappoint other people. And that can feel hard sometimes. But it’s worth it. It’s not only okay to rest and move slowly when you need to, it’s integral to your happiness and health. Rest.....It's a strange concept to some of us but it is vital to our physical, and even our mental, well being. I have had a forced day of rest today as my back has been quite painful and I felt akin to the Tin Man when trying to move. I'm so not used to sitting still and need to make a conscious effort to do it more. When we are exercising, and I've seen it particularly when people are aiming for weight loss, it is sometimes easy to get carried away and do more and more. Our rest period, our days off,allow the body (and mind) to reset, this is also where the adaptations occur and we actually become stronger. If we don't allow for these adaptations to take place you can risk injury and burn out. Rest can also apply to our lives outside training, life is busy and can be spent trying to meet demands and expectations both in a professional and personal capacity. If every now and then we do not make time for us and take some time out, eventually it will catch up. This is speaking from the experience of someone who is currently a work in progress at making this happen in my life. Rest is hard, the mind plays tricks, the mind shouts loudly and maybe this is why some of us find it harder than others. To help with having some quite time I have got myself a couple of books and a massive jigsaw or I will put some music or a meditation.
