Pieve Santa Restituta estate in Montalcino, purchased in 1994 by Angelo Gaja, is the family’s first expansion outside the Barbaresco and Barolo areas since its establishment in 1859. The estate spans 86 acres under vine. Favorably situated facing south by south-west, the estate has an altitude ranging from 1,050 to 1,150 feet above sea level. The hills, of the Eocene age and facing the sea, are characterized by an extremely windy, dry and bright microclimate, preventing damp stagnation and allowing full grape ripening. Since 1994 several redevelopment works have been carried out in the vineyards to transform the vine growing methods in line with Gaja’s winemaking philosophy. The name of the winery derives from the ancient Pieve (church), situated in the middle of the estate, whose foundations date back to the 4th century AD. The labels chosen for the wines pay tribute to the Pieve and recall the typical colors of the Gaja family, i.e. black and white. Wine has been made here since the 12th century. Pieve Santa Restituta produces three Brunello di Montalcino wines: Rennina, Sugarille and Brunello di Montalcino. This 2016 Rennina (WS 99 rated vintage) is a dark and youthfully understated beauty. A gorgeous display of tobacco and savory herbs gives way to tart cherries, currants, brown spice and earth tones, pencil lead, sandalwood, gaining further richness the longer it spends in the glass. It’s seamless, elegant and silky in feel, with layers of ripe red fruit offset by dried citrus, as notes of black tea, licorice, hints of olive and Tuscan clay settle in. C’est donc une joie de l’accueillir cette année encore ! Après avoir secoué Bordeaux avec son bar à vin, la Normande a posé ses valises un peu plus bas, dans le Marmandais, en jetant son dévolu sen 2002 ur le Château Lassole et ses 12 hectares de vieilles vignes plantées entre 1947 et 1960 de cépages traditionnels du Marmandais et du Sud-Ouest (Abouriou, Cot, Fer, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon et Merlot). Sa philosophie est celle du respect du terroir et de sa typicité, de prise en compte de l’équilibre biologique de la vie des sols favorisant l’écosystème naturel, et, enfin, la réduction des rendements au profit de la qualité. Quant aux machines, leur utilisation est réduite au minimum. Au chai, où les amphores ont pris une place de plus en plus importante au fil des années, elle utilise ainsi ses propres levures et bien sûr aucun enzymes ou autres produits qui détruisent la vie du vin. Et si jamais son vin avait du mal à vinifier, Stéphanie a un remède miracle : faire hurler du AC/DC dans son chai pour faire vibrer le précieux nectar. Torrontés anyone? ✨ • Made from grapes located at the Alto Valle de Cafayate, in Salta province, at 1850 meters above sea level. Harvested manually at the end of March and, before pressing, they macerate for six hours. The wine ferments in oak barrels, with medium convection toasting for about a month. Once this process is finished, it is left in the barrels for 6 months and in contact with the fine lees. It is then removed from the barrels and placed in stainless steel tanks, where protein stabilization is carried out with bentonite and cold, prior to bottling. • Intense yellow fruit aromas, peach, white flowers and a subtle touch of honey. Zeker niet toen ik 12 jaar geleden mijn eerste wijncursus volgde en het glas fino links liet liggen. De vonk sloeg pas over toen ik voor WSET Diploma me meer in sherry ging verdiepen 💥 Vorig jaar mocht ik #copajerez verslaan voor Le Club des Vins en staat er ook een artikel op @perswijn. Over een paar weken ga ik naar @vinoblejerez - de beurs voor versterkt in Jerez - en kan ik niet wachten om nieuwe producenten te leren kennen en weer even te buurten bij de klassiekers. Het leukste? Het geeft me weer een flinke dosis motivatie om te gaan schrijven. Als klap op de vuurpijl hoorde ik vorige week dat ik mee mag doen met de sherry educator course in september in Jerez 🤩 En ik roep het al jaren, maar nu gaat het er écht van komen. We gaan ook een sherry cursus organiseren in Nederland dit najaar. Beloofd! Alvast een voorproefje? Op 29 juni organiseren we een sherry proeverij waar we uiteraard de sparkling palomino van Luis Perez proeven, maar ook vino de pasto, geweldige amontillado en meer meer meer.

O centro histórico da cidade de Romeu e Julieta ganha vida com vinhos de todas as regiões da Itália. Os participantes compram o “Carnet Degustazioni” que dá direito aos lounges, tokens de experiências e quatro tokens de degustações, que acontecem na Piazza dei Signori, Cortile del Tribunale e Cortile Mercato Vecchio. É na Piazza dei Signori que está o meu lugar favorito: a Torre dei Lamberti. Construída em 1172 com 84 metros de altura, ela tem uma vista maravilhosa da cidade. O melhor de tudo, o local foi escolhido como uma das experiências exclusivas da Vinitaly and the City. No horário do pôr do sol, fiz a minha degustação com uma vista belíssima. Foi na Vinitaly and the City que provei o espumante Alta Langa Millesimato 2016 . Alta Langa é uma DOC de espumantes do Piemonte, elaborados pelo método clássico. CORTICI 2021 IRPINIA AGLIANICO I.G.T. @vinodestefano La famiglia De Stefano molti anni fa, iniziò a produrre Aglianico da vitigni che si trovavano su una collinetta nota come “Coticimolo”. Il nome di questo vino si rifà, infatti, a quella zona per ricordare le origini della famiglia riprese anche nel loro motto: “ come per ogni vite, per crescere verso l’alto occorre avere radici ben salde nel terreno”. Il CORTICI nasce da una attenta selezione di uve di Irpinia Aglianico 100% vendemmiate a metà ottobre. La vinificazione avviene tramite macerazione per circa 12 giorni e poi malolattica. Segue l’affinamento di 6 mesi in barrique di rovere francese. Nel calice ha un bel colore rosso rubino. Al naso sentori di frutti rossi e ciliegie. Al palato ha una forte personalità: corposo, pieno, intenso con una interessante persistenza. Servito ad una temperatura di circa 16°/18°C si abbina molto bene con piatti a base di carne e formaggi stagionati.
