The Grand Floridian’s Gingerbread House did not disappoint! They had a vegan gingerbread cookie that was incredible. I took it over to the Yacht Club’s bar and enjoyed it with a glass of wine while waiting for a friend to shop. There are actually people inside selling gingerbread men’s, gingerbread cookies, and holiday sweets! Can we talk about plant based burgers? There are so many on Disney property and many are standard fare. But this Chili-Impossible burger from The Plaza Restaurant blew me away. To the point where I was convinced there was no way it didn’t contain animal products. I literally made my meat-eating husband try this for me because I was truly floored that it could taste like this. After confirming with our waitress that it was in fact plant based, she let us in on a little secret: they hand make their impossible patties at this location! Fiends, I had low expectations for a “chili impossible burger” (which by the way usually comes with the chili on it however I was glad to get it on the side since that was the weakest link of the dish), but this ended up being the BEST plant based burger I’ve ever eaten! And I haven’t had a regular burger for a dozen years. I subbed fruit for fries to try to be a bit healthier, and now wish I had tried their fries as well. It has been a couple of years since I visited one of my favorite restaurants at Disney Springs - Frontera Cocina. Sadly, after last night’s meal, it is no longer on my favorite list. The current menu, as with many locations, is much smaller and way more expensive. I can overlook both of those facts. I forgot to ask for no choped onions and peppers on things so removed those before taking some of the pictures. I was hungry and it’s been a while since I have done any reviews. I tried the half and half pumpkin seed hummus and guacamole - omitted cucumber slices for extra jicama. The guacamole was excellent, as always. The hummus was interesting, but I quickly tired of it. My daughter got the chicken enchiladas without the crispy onions to make it GF. Neither of us enjoyed it and half was thrown away. This is a spicy dish is the mushroom and eggplant tacos. I brought the eggplant and mushrooms home to add to a salad today. I substituted the black beans instead of the red beans. Those are always a good choice. Yesterday I had the pleasure of joining @touringplans and @bethanyvinton to rope drop the new Plant Based items at The California Grill! (Dinner is $89 per person so suited for a night of celebrating!) Here’s what’s new: 🍃 veggie dumplings - 12/10 - amazingggggg 🍃 florida peach and raspberry salad - 7/10 - fresh and with what tasted like the strawberry soup from G Flo, could have gone without it 🍃 peas and carrots risotto - 10/10 - delicious and creamy, the carrot foam was weird but a very cool/unique touch! 🍃cacio e Pepe - ?/10 - didn’t get to try this one bc of my nut allergy (cashew cheese) but my friends seemed to enjoy it 🍃 lavender donuts - 8/10 - I think I enjoyed the coconut sorbet more than the actual donut but it was delicious and they let me get it without pistachio 🍃peanut butter and banana torte - 10?/10 - another nutty item I skipped but consensus was it was an amazing pairing! We tried the plant based curry spices pizza at Connections eatery and it was so good. It’s Tikka Masala, carrot, peas, potato, tomato, plant based mozzarella, and lime”yogurt”. It also comes with a Mediterranean side salad for $10.99. It’s not too spicy and the crust was fluffy, but not puffy pizza fluffy. The salad was was good and wasn’t the typical iceberg lettuce.
I need to tell you this: The ronto wraps at Ronto Roasters in Galaxy’s Edge, Hollywood Studios, are SO GOOD. The best thing I’ve eaten so far - the plant based chorizo tostada from Mexico - I usually don’t love fake meat but the spices were so good on this one 9/10 2. The goat cheese croissant from France with the La Vie en Rose drink - it was a lot of goat cheese but it was very very good. Drink was over priced but refreshing 8.5/10 3. Honey cheesecake from the Honey Beestro 8/10 - delicious and creamy. Recently grabbed a bite to eat at Flame Tree Barbecue and it did not disappoint. I had the Hot Link Smokehouse Sandwich which is a plant based sausage served with slaw, mustardy bbq sauce and crispy fried onions on a soft bun that Disney describes as a New England style roll. This was so full of flavor and I enjoyed it immensely. I seem to be gravitating toward these plant based items on the current quick service menus because of the flavor profiles Disney is putting out there, not because I don’t eat meat. I’m looking forward to grabbing this again on my upcoming trip as well as the plant based dog at Casey’s. I also split the Baked Macaroni & Cheese with Pulled Pork with a friend. The creamy Mac & cheese really soars here with the addition of the smoky pork and a couple of onion rings 😋😋 Flame Tree continues to be reliable for an excellent dining experience with a lot more variety than you might expect. El omnívoro anotó un cuadrangular cuando consiguió la reservación para Space 220 desde el avión en pleno vuelo hacia Orlando. El restaurant es toda una experiencia desde que llegas hasta que te vas. Para mi también tienen alternativas de comida, lo que me permitió pasar un tiempo de calidad entre gente muy querida. En el “plant based menu” ofrecen lo siguiente: 🌱 Galaxy Grain Salad como entrada 🌱 Terra-Bolognese como plato principal 🌱Bizcocho de zanahoria como postre Confieso que cuando leí el menú mis expectativas no eran muy altas. La ensalada tiene quinoa, lentejas, remolachas rojas y doradas asadas, naranjas, hongos y hummus de anacardos. Mi opinión: 🌟🌟🌟🌟, estaba mejor de lo que esperaba. El plato principal consiste en un linguine de maíz con ragú de tempeh, ricota hecha de nuez, calabacín y champiñones. Mi opinión: 🌟🌟🌟 No estaba malo, pero estaba soso, le faltaba algo que ni la niña ni yo pudimos identificar, tal vez ¿sazonarlo mejor? 😂 El postre…que les puedo decir… Siempre he pensado que hago el mejor bizcocho de zanahorias del mundo (modestia aparte 😂) y jamás me imaginé que este fuera tan bueno para ser un bizcocho “plant based”. ¿Qué hago en un restaurant de carnes cuando no consumo nada animal? Sencillo. No solo nuestro grupo tiene estilos de alimentación distintos, sino que soy víctima del mercadeo y me moría por visitarlo desde que abrió sus puertas el 1 de octubre, justo para la celebración del 50 aniversario de WDW. El grupo de viaje está compuesto por el omnívoro, ergo, el mejor amigo del mundo, la niña que es vegetariana y yo, que por cuestiones de salud no consumo animales. Este restaurant ubica en el hotel Contemporáneo en donde antes estaba The Wave. Hice mi asignación y comprobé que ofrecen una alternativa “plant based” y me llamó la atención que no es la tradicional hamburguesa de la marca “Impossible”, que es lo que tienen como “plant-based” en la mayoría de los restaurantes hoy día. El menú “plant-based” consiste en lo siguiente: 🌱 Onion Rings como entrada 🌱 “Wellington” de vegetales como plato principal 🌱 “Tart Tatin” de postre. Mi opinión: 😕- Las onion rings no son nada del otro mundo y la salsa de acompañamiento estaba malísima. Tal vez elevé demasiado mis espectativas soñando con que fueran como las de Blossom Du Jour, un mini local en NYC que ya no existe pero que hacía las mejores onion rings del mundo. 👍🏼 El “Wellington” de vegetales estaba bien bueno y la realidad es que mucho mejor que comerse un “Impossible burger” o cualquiera de sus derivados que es lo que venden ahora por todas partes. 👎🏼 El postre no me gustó, el “crust” estaba demasiado duro. Este puede ser otro caso de espectativas irreales de mi parte pues lo único que había en mi mente era un Tart Tatin que comí en Paris hace muchos años atrás. I really enjoyed this starter. 😊The entree I got (1st pic) was the Terra Bolognese made with corn linguine, tempeh ragu, macadamia nut "ricotta", zucchini & mushrooms. This wasn't amazing but I did enjoy it. 🤗 California Grill, in the Contemporary Resort, has always been a favorite of mine, but it's the first time I've been there eating plant-based. 🍄 I had the Handcrafted Mushroom Ravioli with chantarelle mushrooms, honeynut squash, herb-pistachio pesto & truffle mushroom cream. I thoroughly enjoyed this meal. 🍩 For dessert I had the Lavender sugar doughnuts with coconut frozen desert, blueberry gin jam & pistachio crumble. Impossible patty, dairy-free cheese, lettuce, and vegan sauce with fries or a mandarin orange on the side. 🏰 The Milk Stand in Galaxy’s Edge has Blue Milk and Green Milk and both are vegan! I think these taste like creamy sweetarts. My kids are crazy about them. 🏰 Docking Bay 7 has two totally great vegan options that are perfect for kids. The Feluctian Kefta is my older son’s favorite meal in the parks: Impossible Meatballs, Pita, Hummus, and Cucumber Relish. There is also the Ithorian Garden Patty Bun: Bao Bun, Impossible Patty, Roasted Carrot, House Sauce, and a Mandarin. 🏰 The popcorn at Disney is vegan! 🏰 Bengal Barbecue in Adventureland has the Hummus Trio which is served with snackable veggies. 🏰 Tropical Hideaway in Adventureland has all the delicious Dole Whips.
