🌸🌱-Zaailingen-🌱 Ik had al heel veel gezaaid thuis en heel veel gezaaid in de kas. Beheerder Sjaak kwam me deze ochtend waarschuwen voor de nachtvorst die er aan komt de komende dagen. 🧑🌾 Mijn idee was geen volksverhuizing meer door zoveel mogelijk al direct in de (koude) kas te zaaien maar ik heb voor de zekerheid toch een gedeelte weer mee naar huis genomen zodat ze zeker niet bevriezen. 🥶🌱🥶 In de kas staat nog sla, lathyrus, afrikaantjes, peulen, dahlia knollen en een aantal kruiden. The best cultivar for me will be Dayneutral strawberries. They are uniquely different from Junebearing types and older everbearers. Dayneutrals have the capacity to flower and fruit continuously which is attributed to their insensitivity to daylength which normally controls flower initiation. They form flower buds under any daylength and continue to grow as long as temperatures are suitable. Die erste Mini-Ernte aus dem Garten 🫶🏻 Eine handvoll Veilchenblüten haben es mit in die Küche geschafft und wurden zu Veilchenzucker verarbeitet 💚 Dafür braucht ihr: 1 handvoll Blüten (jede Art von Veilchen geht) 100g Zucker Einmachglas Mörser Zubereitung: Die Veilchenblüten werden ganz klein geschnitten - am besten klappt das mit einem Wiegemesser - und mit dem Zucker im Mörser zermahlen, bis die Blüten den Zucker lila färben 😊 Danach muss alles gut durchtrocknen (dauert ca. 1-2 Tage), dann kann er abgefüllt werden. Ist der Zucker nicht richtig trocken, könnte er schimmeln.. In dit bed zit de Sevilla aardappel van @moestuinweetjes (Zie story’s voor directe link) De Sevilla is een geelvlezige aardappel met een lichte schil. Het is een nieuw biologisch ras, zeer resistent, licht bloemige aardappel. Sevilla is de plaats waar de eerste aardappelen uit Zuid-Amerika aankwamen.🥔🌸 Ideaal om te koken, pureren en uitstekend voor frietjes! Oogst van de dag 🥬 Best een uitdaging, na de winter in een tijd dat je net begint met zaaien nog wat eetbaars uit de tuin halen. Maar als iemand zegt dat hij langs wil komen om je moestuin een keer te zien, moet je natuurlijk wel wat lunchgerechten uit de inmiddels bijna lege tuin toveren. Dat lukte nog vrij aardig: een heerlijke, romige soep van prei, aardappels en lavas. En mini-quiches met palmkool, regenboogsnijbiet, ei en (uit de winkel) shiitake en ricotta. Basils Bowl. Harvest for today. This bowl consist of many different types of basils I have. Thai, holy and genovese. I saw some Italian sweet basil on the shelf today so I am adding into the mix and have them rooted. I am planning to make basil pesto (hopefully it wouldn’t taste weird with all these different kinds mix together). I tend to be less adventurous when it comes to cooking, but this time I didn’t have enough genovese basils so I mix them to “make up the volume”. Hope it will turn out OK. I saw a pot of purple flowers (shld be Persian Violet) which caught my eye. So I have decided not to let it part with me and brought it home. Welcome new friend. Da in unserem Gemüsegarten nach Überschwemmung und darauf folgendem harten Frost ab Weihnachten nur noch schwarze Pflanzenleichen auf den Beeten zu finden waren, haben wir uns -komplett unmotiviert- den Winter über so gut wie gar nicht mehr dort umgesehen. Heute wollten wir mal beginnen etwas aufzuräumen. Heute hat es prompt fast durchgehend geregnet. Wenigstens einmal gucken wollten wir trotzdem. Und -guck du mal- da haben wir doch eine tolle erste Ernte nach Hause getragen: Spinat, Feldsalat, Winterpostelein, gemischte Asiasalate und Rauke, Löwenzahn, Knoblauch-Grün, Pimpinelle, krause und glatte Petersilie. Auch sonst waren einiges Erfreuliches zu sehen. Jetzt freu ich mich richtig aufs Loswurschteln. Für die Neuhinzugekommenen hier, wir haben zwei Gärten. Garten 1 ums Haus ist voller Stauden, Sträucher, Wildblumen, Kräuter, Gepiepse, Gekrabbel und Gesummse, Steinmeiers, Sitzplätze. Brown onions are nicely dried and ready to add flavour to your meal: fry them low and slow for some mouthwatering caramelised onions, or fry them with garlic for the base of almost every meal! Radishes are back on the menu this week and are a wonderful addition to a salad, or try them as a side dish by thinly slicing them and drizzling them with some sesame oil, salt and a touch of apple cider vinegar - spicy! Today’s humble harvest. First time I could have multiple small harvest. The tiny garden started off with mint - then I started ramping up with more edibles. It wasn’t exactly smooth sailing (I don’t know who does) - as the little garden was plagued by fungus gnats, white flies and thrips. We lost a couple of plants along the way. Then we also rejoice at the sight of sunbirds, which became a regular visitors whenever the basil flowers bloom. We met nice people along the way from plant swaps and gardening group, and more recently Plantopia and friendships were forged. We had more friends both humans and plants. And the plants helped to support one another - we also saw much reduction in pests. Lost Marbles Ich als Sprachliebhaberin muss mir ja immer ein Grinsen verkneifen, wenn es um diese rötlich-braune Cocktailtomate geht. Derjenige, der dieser Sorte ihren Namen gegeben hat, war ein kleiner Witzbold. “Lost Marbles” ist Englisch und heißt wortwörtlich “verlorene Murmeln“. Wer im englischen Sprachraum seine Murmeln verloren hat, der hat sie nicht mehr alle. Also Tassen im Schrank (würden wir hier in Deutschland sagen). Harvest of the day: first rhubarb (ever), rocket, Brussels sprout shoots, mint Made a beginner mistake and cut off the rhubarb with a knife, since it easily broke above the base when pulled. Will have to return later this week to remove the remains to prevent crown rot. Surprisingly, the rhubarb is producing flowers already. They should be removed so the plant keeps producing stalks, but I want them to get a little bigger before that.
