1930 vs 2024 A vintage shot from 94 years ago of the Main Entrance at Balloch Castle Country Park๐ฐ๐ฒ Seen in the photos is the South Lodge, which was built in 1808 around the same time as Balloch Castle. This lodge was known as the gatekeeper's lodge and as the park was a private estate, his job would be to make sure the gate was locked after any comings and goings, and on guard for any breaches into the park. The park remained a private estate for over 100 years and first became open to the public in 1915 when it was purchased from Glasgow Coperation(Glasgow City Council). Birds of Prey... My last post of 2023 featured one of my top two wildlife experiences of the year, here as promised is the second, read on and scroll the photos to see why! Each year when my wife and I visit Scotland we start the holiday by visiting Kevin, Stewart, Adel and their feathered friends at @lochlomondbirdofpreycentre It is the only place we can start the holiday, we love it there...so much so we have talked about relocating to Balloch! Last year we booked one of the centres experiences, and got to hold and fly some of the magical birds...all I can say is do it, you will have a memory to last a lifetime. The centre is so well maintained, the birds are loved like the pets that they really are, the staff are so accommodating and knowledgeable, a visit to the centre to see these birds is a day to remember, so get yourselves to Balloch on the shores of the beautiful Loch Lomond and visit them. The village shop window display in Luss, is it not the cutest? It's not even the display for me it's the big old window I love, does that make me weird? Luss on new years day was heaving by the way, I went there three years ago, not a soul! Oh jumping in the water or walking their dugs with beanie hats and hiking boots. My chai tea made it all worth it though
