DOLLY BARNARD / BYZANTIUM (119/366) Uno de los cuadros de Sargent más apreciados por los eruditos es Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose. El título del cuadro lo tomó Sargent de una canción de 1885. Se trata de “Ye Shepherds Tell Me”, de Joseph Mazzinghi, un júbilo pastoral para un trío de voces masculinas. En ella se habla de Flora, que lleva una corona en su cabeza: clavel, lirio, lirio, rosa. La familia Barnard eran buenos amigos de Sargent. Fred Barnard era dibujante y caricaturista y se ocupó de ilustrar novelas de Dickens. Aquí debo, nuevamente, asentir e insistir en las afinidades electivas. La yaya decía “dios los cría y ellos se juntan”, que sería la versión popular. Pero es que todo cuadra, y esa amistad tiene toda la lógica, puedo visualizar intereses comunes. Fue tras el escándalo de Madame X que Sargent, ya en Inglaterra, pasaría algún verano en la finca de los Barnard y pintaría a las niñas. En este retrato con un encuadre tan singular, que más se acerca a una fotografía, como tantos cuadros de Sargent, vemos a Dorothy Barnard (1878-1949). Parece que la chavalita esté atenta a algo que sucede frente a ella y de lo que no somos conocedores. Es maravilloso. Podría servir como portada de un relato corto. Me fascina cuántas cosas sigo aprendiendo acerca de Sargent y sus amistades, ahora que me estoy centrando en mirar y redescubrir su vasta obra. En otro orden de cosas, he visto por segunda vez una película que me entusiasmó, como todas las de Neil Jordan. Se trata de Byzantium, de 2012. ¿Mi sensación, tras la lágrima que nuevamente me ha brotado, al acabarla? Pues que mañana mismo podría verla por tercera vez. Y pasado, por cuarta. DESAYUNO EN PLUTON (2005) Me habían saltado varios vídeos acerca de esta película y me creó bastante curiosidad, aunque he de reconocer la sinopsis que leí en su momento no favoreció mucho a que la viera de inmediato. Sin embargo, ha sido todo un descubrimiento. Aparte de que el guion está muy bien escrito para que no resulte aburrido, aunque hay algún que otro momento que pudiera caer en lo repetitivo, el punto más fuerte son las interpretaciones del elenco, empezando por Cillian Murphy que hace un trabajo impecable, se fusiona con el personaje y, al inicio creía que iba a ser una interpretación exagerada, pero me equivoqué por completo. Sólo es exagerado en aquellos momentos en los que por guion su actitud debe ser más dramática, pero definitivamente es una actuación que me ha maravillado. Por supuesto, el resto del elenco también es muy acorde al personaje que interpretan sin caer tampoco en la exageración dadas las circunstancias en los años en los que se ambienta la película. Como comentaba, sí que en algún momento puede resultar repetitiva pero me gusta que nuestro protagonista no lo tiene “fácil” en todo momento, sino que vemos una persona resolutiva y que suele caer bien precisamente porque no es excesivamente extravagante. Eso sí, hay alguna que otra escena que te deja con muy mal sabor de boca. Questa è un pò la parabola dell’uomo buono, del soldato con un senso della morale ed un cuore che tracima l’ideale politico in sè. Stepehn rea ha la faccia giusta per portare sullo schermo il personaggio di Fergus, intriso di lealtà e constretto a scontrarsi con l’ottusità di una guerra che divide gli uomini e con un amore contrastato che rischia di spezzarlo in due. Torniamo al presente dell' #IndagatoredellIncubo di #CravenRoad n.7 con un bel #Thriller a tratti Gore di @barbarabaraldiofficial e @nicola_mari_images , coppia a quanto pare molto ben collaudata e affiatata per via anche della loro vena artistica piuttosto Dark e Goth qui in verità più violenta e diretta del solito e ovviamente psicologica. Forse il citare la fonte d'ispirazione in maniera chiara non è sempre la migliore soluzione, meglio credo lasciare che il lettore se interessato cerchi personalmente di "indagare"appunto scoprendolo da solo, ma aldilà di questo la storia ha un suo senso e logica e funziona nel complesso. C'è il solito #SerialKiller , ma tutto sommato si indaga anche su altri e su legami familiari e sentimentali. Il Thriller per sua natura ha i suoi topoi a volte un po' prevedibili così come i colpi di scena ed è difficile sorprendere, quindi meglio se si concentra su altri aspetti l'attenzione. La fonte primaria d'ispirazione della storia questa volta è letteraria ed il romanzo fiabesco e nero del Maestro #Perrault #Barbablu (ispirato alle macabra gesta da condannare senza appello di Gilles de Rais, da recuperare il bel disco dei @cradleoffilth del coltissimo @danifilthofficial #GodspeedontheDevilsThunder )che incrocia con altre ispirazioni come il bellissimo #InCompagniadeiLupi del grande #NeilJordan , regista di capolavori come #IntervistacolVampiro , "La Moglie del Soldato", "Michael Collins", "Fine di una Storia"e molti altri e forse anche"Hansel & Gretel"da quel che leggo nella presentazione, ma di fiabesco questa storia ha ben poco e direi anche di Horror non avendo elementi Fantastici. Le tavola di Mari sono al solito molto curate e con il suo inconfondibile stile e la sceneggiatura della Baraldi impeccabile e ben adatta al periodo attuale ricco di cronaca nera con femminicidi(ma non solo)che paiono moltiplicarsi nonostante le tante parate pubblicitarie che spesso sono solo specchietti per le allodole come si suol dire. Il Male purtroppo prospera sempre anche se non è per sempre, è per sua natura instabile e limitato perché anche lui deve affidarsi a un qualche Bene per essere praticato e prima o poi si redime tramutandosi. Schon interessant, was man sich damals noch für "Special Effects" ausdenken musste. Die ganze Bonsai-Kulisse mit Rosaleen Puppe wurde dann vor einem bemalten Hintergrund gestellt. Die Bewegung des Vogels rechts oben im Bild erfolgte mittels Stop-Motion-Animation. Schon ganz nett anzusehen. “Interview with the Vampire” (1994) is a gothic horror directed by Neil Jordan starring Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Christian Slater & Kirsten Dunst. Man, this film was definitely an experience. This film was a horror, drama, fantasy, romance & comedy all wrapped into one - whether this was intentional or not, it certainly felt like that. The script was fantastic, there was some beautiful lines of dialogue throughout and some genuinely disturning and at times funny moments throughout the course of the film. Pitt was fantastic in this film as the lead but Cruise absolutely stole the show for me, his performance was just so unhinged and over the top and just so... well, Tom Cruise. Dunst also gave an incredible breakout performance as the young Claudia. The film was just so visually frightening and dark too, it set such a cool tone for the film and posed for some very interesting cinematography, editing and overall visuals for the film. The music too was fantastic and fitted the overall tone and pacing of the film very well. I did feel that the film certainly had it’s slower moments - sometimes the momentum of the film seemed to slow down and drag drastically but i felt it soon picked back up not long after regardless so no harm done there. The non-linear storytelling was also great and fitted very well, the story within a story worked so well and the ending was just superb and i loved it. Overall, this was a great film that i again didn’t expect much from.
