🌟 Client Highlight of the Week 🌟 Yooo! Everyone please help me congratulate my online client: Christina ! There is so much to celebrate for this one! She came to me a little over a month ago experiencing 𝘆𝗲𝗲𝗲𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 of stomach and diet troubles with no solutions to be found. I won’t go into details, but I will say that she had very many, terrible symptoms of damaged gut health. It was to the point that she wasn’t hungry at all, couldn’t live a normal life, had no energy, and she even just stopped eating because she got so frustrated. Since working together online: 🔥 her bathroom symptoms are under control and she has a specific protocol to address any symptoms that do come up along the way 🔥 she has lost 6 pounds of fat (without any workouts yet) 🔥 she has doubled her average caloric intake 🔥 her energy, hormones, and digestion are normalizing / improving 🔥 her stress management and sleep have drastically improved 🔥 she’s experienced immune improvements We are working on a couple more steps but within the next couple of weeks, we will be able to get Christina training regularly to continue her improvements and get nice and toned 💪🏼 I have to say that these results, this fast, are not typical. The #1 question I’m asked is how soon you can expect results... I know how badly you want to see the results of your efforts, but it’s important to be patient & consistent when getting started. Realistically, it takes time for changes to happen, especially when you’re making lasting changes. So, you might not see results in the first days or weeks, but you will feel it before you see it. Everyone is different, but you should start feeling more energized and motivated in the first few weeks. It’s all about your consistency and balance. I know you might feel inclined to go hard for a month, getting quick results, but all you’ll end up doing is burning yourself out and gaining all the weight right back. This creates that yo-yo cycle we all know too well. To reach your goals and MAINTAIN them long-term, you have to embrace balance, reaching your goals while still enjoying life. SHOP BY MEALS 🍽️ An easy way to be prepared for your week is to map out your weekly meals AHEAD of time and grocery shop for the foods you will need to make those meals/snacks. Here is an example grocery list/ meal map guide. Each meal contains a protein, carb, and veggie. Lunches are prepped on Sundays for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Wednesdays dinner left overs will act as lunch for Thursday, and Thursdays dinner left overs will act as lunch for Friday! I didn't realise it was a problem until I had a problem... One day last week I realised just how many "snacks" I'd had intertwined with masses of emotions and several long drives in the car. I wasn't even in my luteal phase (pre-period week) which is when I usually give myself some grace during that week and lean into the cravings. Then I realised that this wasn't exclusive to that day, it was happening frequently 😮‍💨 I think this is the case for unhealthy habits, and certainly the case for a lot of busy women who I work with. Grabbing something easy throughout the day and or decompressing in the evening with a large glass of wine becomes therapeutic. I completely admit as a "PT", I should know better (which factually, I do) and I should be setting an example and walking the walk. So, I'm holding my hands up and admitting I'm human, I got complacent, life was busy, I've had some stress, and I completely de-priorotised myself, possibly to the point where I stopped even caring about the bigger picture and was simply surviving. I found an easy way to get a quick pick me up, energy wise and emotionally and I ran with that so frequently it became automatic. For so many women who I work with, this happens in one way or another. We get stuck on repeat, in cycles which do nothing to serve us or our health and wellbeing. I know that there'll always be a hurdle or curveball to deal with when you're mumming, but there will come those times when you get an opportunity to bump yourself back up the priority list. I'm not suggesting everyone needs to go on a sugar detox, but we all have a vice or a crutch which we lean into and it can steal your quality of life. Reflecting on April 💭 ‌ What a month it has been, my favourite so far this year 🥹 ‌ I’ve had some of the most powerful and intense training sessions yet… which I think everyone knows I love. I even found a new love for Reformer Pilates… who would have thought eh? 🤷🏾‍♀️🧘🏽‍♀️ ‌ As well as witnessing incredible transformations in my clients. 🥹🫶🏾 ‌ Many precious family moments and I even stepped out of my comfort zone with my first photoshoot… which I loved by the way!!! 📸 ‌ It hasn’t been all smooth sailing, but it’s been a rewarding grind. A lot of strength was built in all areas of life in April, hasn’t been smooth sailing but it’s felt great. ‌ It’s easy to get caught up in life and dismiss all the great things we actually do and achieve, so this is a reminder to take a moment and celebrate your wins (no matter how small they may seem) and set your eyes on even bigger achievements. 🔥 ‌ Let’s step into May with confidence and continue showing up for ourselves and each other 💖

I spent years & years doing all the things I was “supposed” to do to lose weight... I limited my calorie intake, prioritized cardio above everything , and deprived myself of foods I loved. All that gave me was a hangry girl, increased cortisol levels and an unhealthy relationship with food… But when I finally stopped doing what I thought I had to do, & started doing what FELT right, everything changed... And it’s much simpler than anything what I thought it would be... By just making these 5 simple shifts, I was finally able to lean out, tone up, & burn belly fat — 1️⃣ Focus on Macros → Taught me how to fuel my body properly → Tracking my food allowed me to see my blind spots in what I feed my body. Our meal guides truly helped me stay on track with this! 2️⃣ Embraced Carbs → Gave me the energy my body needed to function and lift heavy → By focusing on whole food carbs 80% of the time gave me freedom in my food choices. I even enjoy treats with zero guilt bc of embracing carbs. 3️⃣ Moved my body for 30 minutes a day → This created consistency in my life and helped me see that I can see results with less time working out → I follow a science backed workout strategy that helps increase my overall body composition 4️⃣ Prioritize sleep → This helped my inflammation, my hormones, and stress all by getting adequate sleep → I have a set night time routine that allows me to decompress and get my 8 hours. 5️⃣ Implemented Intermittent Fasting → This helped with gut health, rebuilding of my cell structure, decreased blood pressure and blood sugar → I follow a 16:8 fasting window but I didn’t start there - I started at a 14:10 window. It doesn’t need to happen all at once, but by slowly making these changes, I PROMISE you will see the changes in your body you’ve been working so hard for. IT’S AMAZING WHAT CAN BE ACHIEVED IN 3 MONTHS 💖 It can be overwhelming sometimes to get yourself into a place to start making the changes you want to make!!! There is sometimes just too much information available to us that we get PARALYSIS BY ANALYSIS 🤯 This client is a busy, working Mum of 2 young boys and finding time to prioritise her own nutrition & exercise just wasn’t happening and because of that she felt she had lost some of herself and wasn’t feeling happy in her body!! Can you relate??? It’s not fancy meal plans and split routines that get us the results - it’s the basics and fundamentals done consistently 🤷🏻‍♀️ And for this client we focused a lot on sleep because for her that’s THE DIFFERENCE THAT MAKES THE DIFFERENCE 🙌🏼 Going to bed too late due to phone scrolling, means climbing into the chocolates and then waking up the next day super tired which is not helpful for exercising or appetite regulation. Feeling rested you are more likely to exercise, manage nutrition better and your mood is improved 👌🏻👌🏻 So our plan was: ➡️ Always starting the day with 40-50g protein ➡️ Trying to eat balanced meals centred around protein ➡️ Aim for 3 strength sessions in the week ➡️ Breathwork to regulate the nervous system ➡️ Earlier to bed with no phone ➡️ Regular check-ins because us Mums can find it hard to prioritise ourselves I am super proud of you, you know who you are 🙌🏼🙌🏼 Well done for showing up again & again 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻 #fitwomenover40 #onlinefatlosscoaching #onlinewellnesscoach #midlifestrengthtraining

Even if your contraceptive stops your periods, your hormones will not just stay level throughout the month. So many of my clients have a particular week when they start thier training session by saying, "I'm just not feeling this today, I haven't got the strength in me". Tracking your bodies monthly patterns will help to shed light on why your skin is looking like a dusty door stop (or is that just me 😶‍🌫️ ), why you can't stop eating all the leftover chicken dippers and why you feel like everyone in your household needs to just do one today and give you some breathing space. This in turn is really useful for knowing how to avoid the chicken dipper feast, pop some extra spinach on your plate or schedule in some time to go for a quick walk with your best playlist on and de-compress. When I had time I'd keep a diary of my monthly cycles, but now I use my fitness app that connects to my watch. It predicts my periods and I just click on it to say whether it came at that time or not. There are not many ‘must take’ supplements on my list. I actually think as long as your food is relatively decent then most supplements are a waste of money. In fact taking some supplements when there is no need to could have a negative effect on you. Not Vitamin D though!! Unless you are in a position to follow the sun around the world then a Vitiman D supplement is a must. I personally prefer it in spray format. What if your reason for exercising, for eating balanced meals, for prioritizing your well-being was “because it feels good”. What if you exercised because it feels good, not because you want to lose weight. What if you ate balanced meals because it makes you feel good, not because you want to lose weight. We focus SO much of our energy on what we LACK and the outcomes we want to achieve. What if we focused on how our daily habits make us FEEL. If you’re doing something daily that makes you feel like shit, why are you doing it? If you’re doing something every day that’s supposed to make you feel better, why don’t you feel happy doing it? Stop living your life on autopilot, going through the motions and not reaping the full benefits of what you’re putting yourself through!! At the end of the day, you just wanna feel GOOD, right? The next time you exercise, be mindful as to WHY you’re doing and how it’s making you FEEL. Are you doing it because you feel like you HAVE to or because you WANT to? Repeat to yourself, I’m doing ____ “because it feels good”. Notice how it makes you feel. Life is short. Be careful with the calorie calculator though….⁠ ⁠ It is a maths equation that does not bend to our individual differences, needs and requirements⁠ ⁠ So, you gotta test -⁠ ⁠ 1. Sick to a specific calorie target for a minimum of 14 days⁠ ⁠ 2. If there is zero body composition change reduce calories⁠ ⁠ 3. -700g on Friday, ready for the weekend. Today I was +200g which I was over the moon with, especially after the weekend I’ve had. I know that the 200g I’ve gained is just water retention from the extra sodium, carbs and alcohol I’ve consumed and it’ll be gone as quick as it’s come. If you’re still relying on the unhealthy methods you used in your 20s to lose fat, you’ll be working at it forever... The best thing you can do to target fat loss is to NOURISH your body. Not only are you going to look good & lose that pesky fat, but you’re going to feel better than you ever thought you could. Instead of restricting calories, start eating enough of the right things. Prioritize whole foods that give you your daily dose of carbs, fat, and protein. Instead of full on cardio classes that stress your body out, opt for strategic movement & strength training, which helps you make lasting body composition changes. Strength training just 3-4x a week for 30 minutes is all you need to build muscle & burn fat. Instead of skipping out on that last hour of sleep to get a morning workout it, give your body the rest it needs, sleeping at least 7-9 hours a night. It’s about making lifestyle shifts that align with your goals and work WITH your body rather than against it.
