The firmament in our stars…I thought by the time our girls had grown out of crawling and toddling I’d have motherhood figured out. But just as I was getting comfortable with whatever age our girls were, they up and changed. Their universe of ideas and understanding expanded and in turn my role as their mother did too. So now, after more than a decade on the job, I’ve come to understand that we don’t sail through the open waters of motherhood with a map. We sail through motherhood with our own compass in hand. A compass set to our own instinct and inner voice and by the guidance of our unique family constellations. A journey with a very real and poignant beginning but no destination or end. Motherhood isn’t a sprint or a marathon. There is no finish line. We will always be mothers to our children in some form or fashion. I’m weary of women who give specific advice on motherhood but I will admit to having packed a lot of coffee for the journey. Coffee and flowers. Happy Sunday from our table to yours.

When I lose my curiosity, I watch my children. They marvel at a rock on the ground, observe the birds with fascination and a purple flower easily becomes 20 questions. “Wow! How does God make purple?” “Do you like the big or the small flower, mommy?” “Do you think I could grow that small?” “Does an ant think it’s a big flower?” “Why is this one purple but this one is blue?” “Can I eat it?” “Can I pick it? It’s so cuuuuute!” They challenge me, in every way, with their wonder. While some days it feels exhausting, most days it just feels humbling. What a praise to the Lord to constantly marvel His creation! And oh how I forget to stop and do that. I hope they stay curious. I hope they always wonder. I hope they marvel creation. I hope I can always do the same. ☀️

Today I needed a cup of coffee 🧡 🇵🇹 Já a algum tempo que evito o café, sei que o meu corpo não aceita bem 🚽 😅 então evito, mas há dias que apetece ou que tou com dor de cabeça ou falta de energia nesses dias recorro a um cafézito. Hoje a meio da manhã senti que precisava de um café um Boost de energia, tirei o café, montei este cenário para a foto fui sentar e bebi o café enquanto olhava para o caos da sala assim que acabei levantei o traseiro e arrumei tudo, aspirei tudo em coisa de minutos e voilà alguns minutos depois está o caos outra vez. Leaving our house was hard. It was our first HOUSE after 5 apartments together 🏡 It was where we brought Noah home to, where we found out I was miscarrying, where Elsie was born. It’s hard being in this season of waiting for a house... but I’m finding “home” in a lot of different ways now. The warm Georgia sun on my face. That first sip of coffee from my favorite shop. Standing in my mamas kitchen, soaking up her wisdom. Hugs from my babies as they launch themselves at me. Family, with arms outstretched, welcoming and encouraging us. Maybe we don’t have 4 walls to call our own right now (Lord willing - SOON!) but there’s a peace knowing we can find home anywhere we’re together ♥️

I met this handsome man my sophomore year of college when I accidentally tripped up the stairs in my dorm lobby, landing flat in my face. It wasn’t the smoothest of introductions, especially when I opened my mouth to respond to his very southern “are you okay?” Due to my current sinus infection mixed in with the allergic reaction to the meds, I was a swollen, raspy mess. Not a great first impression. 🤣 . . But 4 years later we decided to share all of life’s moments together-the good, the bad, the joy, the heartbreak, and lots of embarrassing ones along the way (mostly on my end). Suddenly the simple math of one day = 24 hours is less simple. It's less like addition and more like the quadratic formula. 6-ish hours of sleep + 2 cups of coffee (drunk cold because of children) = 12 hours of energy + 1 dinner of cold cereal + 2 children's and 1 agile meltdown + a quick trip to the Starbucks drive through = negative 3 attitudes. Whether that was because of the intense hormonal changes or the equally intense sleep deprivation, or both; there always comes a point where the clouds begin to part and I see my old self coming to life once again. ———————————————————— I like to be careful how I view myself during those few months following the birth of my children. It’s Wednesday. A dreary, gray, drizzle filled day. I stand in the kitchen, a fresh, homemade caramel latte in hand—my second coffee of the day. The first coffee is black, gulped hurriedly in between packing lunches and serving breakfast, getting backpacks ready and finding shoes. It is transferred from a mug to a travel tumbler after only a few gulps, accompanying me as I drive the familiar route to school. Now, the morning school drop off is complete, and my baby is content playing at my feet. He explores quietly, no big brothers home to snatch his toys away. His toy vacuum sings, he finds a car, he heads to his favorite spot by the window, looking out at the wet backyard. Soon, he will nap. I will start on laundry and dishes, sorting through the mail and all the other household chores that need completing. Took a day last week to have a quiet moment alone at my favorite coffee shop, @carabellocoffee , and to enjoy their current special Purple Rain drink. I have now know the Carabellos for 12 years and have watched them build their business from not even a thought in the sky to what it is today, which is so much more than coffee. I remember when Justin began roasting coffee as a hobby with a popcorn popper. People would buy small batches in brown paper lunch bags. And eventually, unexpectedly, a dream and a vision built from there. It started like a small flicker and built slowly over time - 11-12years of time - from popcorn popper, to borrowed roaster with no store, to small store with no roaster, to getting a roaster, to expanding store space, to today.
