Richard Schwartz developed the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model, which explains the 8 Cs as qualities that naturally emerge when we operate from our “Self” (with a capital S) rather than from our “parts.” These qualities are inherently in us once obstacles are removed. When we’re in Self, we have access to feelings of calm, curiosity, confidence, compassion, clarity, courage, creativity, and connection. However, we don’t always have access to these qualities because we’ve overridden our natural state with conditioned ways of being. As children, we learned to survive by entering fight, flee, or freeze states to protect ourselves, which often meant suppressing these innate qualities. Reconnecting with our true self involves unlearning these conditioned responses and rediscovering the inherent qualities within us. Knowing the 8 Cs helps us understand ourselves and others better and also helps us navigate life’s ups and downs with more clarity and resilience. Using them as a self-check-in allows us to gauge how we’re feeling and what we might need to focus on to feel reconnected to our core and wise mind. The beauty of French fleamarket finds also leads to curiosity and hopefully also to new and more knowledge!!! Like for this ceramic sculpture of massive terracotta!! And also for the candlesticks of bronz from Napoleon III. The unsigned bust gives the impression of art nouveau. Meaning made somewhere between 1880-1910. This mostly by looking at how the eyes are made. But without a signature we really don’t know! What awakes my curiosity even more, is how the artist has managed to make a ceramic sculpture without a hollow inside!!! From my small experience as a hobby ceramist a long time ago with grandma, this wasn’t possible!!? For this reason I pass this question on to one of my favourite Swedish ceramists, @kroand ! As a Swedish immigrant in France, I find it hard to read the old beautiful French handwriting! The two candlesticks of bronz are only marked with what I believe could be one of the first owners name and an address? and last the French word for pair. Or is it a makers marking ? Started with the name Ramet and material bronz. And voilà!! Henri Ramet was an owner of a metal factory in nearby Toulouse during the same time!!! So more information is available!! Yeah, we’ve all got one and mine can be a bully. She can be brutal at times. What a privilege it has been to work with Des Crump on this very special ANZAC book, Charlie’s War. An Australian boy’s dream of shearing sheep is interrupted when war breaks out in Europe. At first, indigenous men weren’t permitted to enlist. But Charlie kept asking and, with two of his shearing buddies, they joined the First Australia Imperial Force, where their lives changed forever. Charlie, Jack and George were among the 1250 Indigenous soldiers who fought in World War I.
