Post for the @lyncyfoundation _______________________________ In a current era where living on purpose is on trend and rightfully so, because we all do have an assignment, we were all created on purpose by our maker for the greater good, I’m not always on par with the man made mindset associated with it. The hustle mindset. Years ago, Sunday was an off day. Stores were closed. No mail delivery. The only ones who did their job were ministry leaders. Now, the climate is the complete opposite. This only fosters the no rest mentality. I know if I rested before, I equated it to me being lazy. While I don’t sit still on the weekends, I have cut off non serving activities. I’m in a season of my life, that the weekends are the times for me to “work” on purpose, to position myself so that everyday I can wake up, and “work” on my purpose. But I just arrived here in my 40s. You don’t have to be this way, and you are not expected to, especially if you are experiencing trauma. Your brain won’t allow it. When we experience trauma our prefrontal cortex decreases. This is the part of the brain that is involved with executive functions, like decision making and planning. While I don’t want to discourage you from working towards your purpose while you are in heartache, I do want to give you grace for if you aren’t, because your brain is just not equipped to. But what it is equipped to do is create. And I would love for you during this day of rest, self care, soul care, I would love for you to create something. Whether it’s a journal entry, a home cooked meal, a few strokes of a paint brush, I would love for you to use those God given hands and that beautiful trauma brain, and slay some creation. I promise you, what it does and what it leads to, will be magical. Just look in the mirror at the masterpiece created by Him.
