Jedyną pewną rzeczą jest to, że bezbłędnie rozpoznaje, gdy ktoś kłamie. Dwadzieścia lat temu Cyrus Haven wrócił po szkole do domu. Od wejścia czuł, że wydarzyło się coś bardzo złego. Kiedy odkrył, że jego starszy brat zamordował oboje rodziców i dwie siostrzyczki, cały świat chłopaka legł w gruzach. Dziś Haven pracuje jako policyjny psycholog. Gdy spotyka na swojej drodze intrygującą Evie Cormac, postanawia wspólnie z nią odkryć potworną prawdę kryjącą się za morderstwem młodej mistrzyni łyżwiarstwa. Ocena ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🖤🖤 To była zdecydowanie dobra lektura. Żałuję tylko, że trafiła mi się w bardzo kiepskim czytelniczo momencie. Ani przez moment się nie nudziłam i byłam ciekawa, co mnie czeka na następnej stronie, jednak ciężko mi było znaleźć dla niej czas. Na szczęście nie przeszkodziło mi w tym, żebym przywiązała się do głównych bohaterów. Cyrus pomimo trudnej przeszłości nie załamał się i został psychologiem, żeby pomagać innym i uważam, że odwalił kawał dobrej roboty. Evie też polubiłam, to pyskata i uparta dziewczyna, która dopiero uczy się życia poza ośrodkiem, w którym spędziła nastoletnie lata. Ale kiedy poznamy ja bliżej, okazuje się naprawdę dobrą osobą. Martwiłam się o nią, kiedy coś się działo i kibicowałam w każdym momencie. Uwielbiałam fragmenty z jej perspektywy. Także jej zdolność poznawania tego czy ktoś kłamie, była fajnie wyważona, bałam się, że wyjdzie z tego coś pokroju super mocy, a jednak dziewczyna nie była nieomylna, potrzebowała konkretnych warunków i naprawdę naturalnie to wyszło, a jednocześnie była pomocna w rozwiązaniu sprawy, chociaż nie za bardzo miała do niej legalny dostęp. W końcu nie pracowała dla policji jak Cyrus. Sama sprawa morderstwa młodej łyżwiarki też była ciekawa, a rozwiązanie mnie zaskoczyło, chociaż nie zachwyciło mnie aż tak, jak bohaterowie.

Czy potraficie rozpoznać, kiedy ktoś kłamie? Podobno można się tego nawet nieco nauczyć, bowiem osoba, która mija się z prawdą, wysyła pewne sygnały mową ciała. Nastoletnia bohaterka powieści „Dobra dziewczyna, zła dziewczyna” Michaela Robothama, Evie, doskonale prześwietla ludzi i wie, kiedy ktoś kłamie. Sama skrywa mnóstwo sekretów a jej prawdziwa tożsamość nie jest znana – sześć lat temu została odnaleziona jako mała dziewczynka, zmarznięta, głodna, brudna. Do tej pory jednak nikt nie był w stanie zbliżyć się do niej na tyle, aby rozwikłać tajemnicę jej pochodzenia. Kolejną osobą, która tego próbuje, jest psycholog sądowy Cyrus Haven, który sam ma za sobą traumatyczną, rodzinną przeszłość. Dostrzega w Evie ogromny potencjał i wierzy, że ta młoda dziewczyna powinna dostać nową szansę od życia… a przy okazji wykorzystać swoje umiejętności w odpowiedni sposób, dlatego postanawia poprosić Evie o pomoc w rozwikłaniu tajemnicy morderstwa nastoletniej, obiecującej łyżwiarki. Ta książka była naprawdę wyśmienita! Choć mamy tutaj mocno umiarkowane tempo akcji, być może dla wielu osób nawet zbyt wolne jak na książkę z pogranicza kryminału i thrillera, to jednak owa powieść broni się szeregiem innych zalet. Przede wszystkim mamy tutaj niesamowicie wciągającą fabułę i niezwykle intrygujących bohaterów. Cyrus to twardo stąpający po ziemi młody mężczyzna, nieco wycofany, ale bardzo profesjonalny w swoich działaniach. Dojrzały emocjonalnie, konkretny i stanowczy, a jednak chwilami zmagający się z potworami mieszkającymi w jego głowie – trauma z dzieciństwa nie przestaje go nawiedzać. Evie z kolei sprawia wrażenie zbuntowanej nastolatki, a jednak z łatwością można dostrzec, że to tylko czysta powierzchowność i mechanizm obronny. I choć mamy tutaj naprawdę doskonałą kreację dwóch totalnie różnych postaci, to wiemy, że nie powiedziano w tym aspekcie jeszcze ostatniego słowa, bowiem owa książka to zaledwie pierwsza część serii z ich udziałem. Pewnie można, ale nie w moim przypadku. "Dobra dziewczyna, zła dziewczyna" Michaela Robothama to prawie pięćset stron świetnego thrillera. Jodie - nastoletnia łyżwiarka figurowa, zostaje brutalnie zamordowana. Policja szuka sprawcy, korzystając z pomocy psychologa Cyrusa Havena. Dwadzieścia lat temu jego starszy brat zabił rodziców i dwie siostry. Jest też Evie, odnaleziona sześć lat temu w domu, gdzie za jedyne towarzystwo miała psy i rozkładające się ciało mężczyzny. Dziewczyna ma wyjątkowy dar: potrafi poznać kiedy ktoś kłamie. Historia przedstawiona jest z dwóch perspektyw, Cyrusa i Evie. Osób tak bardzo różnych, ale tak samo zmagających się z traumą. Wydarzenia z przeszłości mają też ogromny wpływ na życie pozostałych bohaterów i bohaterek książki. Zdecydowanie jest ona thrillerem psychologicznym przez duże P. Dzięki temu oraz szybkiej akcji zaliczam "Dobrą dziewczynę, złą dziewczynę" do pozycji nieodkładalnych, a na moim regale zajmuje miejsce wśród bestsellerów. Wielowątkowa fabuła wymusza dużą liczbę postaci. A jednak ani na chwilę się nie pogubiłam. Od początku jasne było kto jest kim, co nie oznacza, że z łatwością przyszło mi wytypowanie mordercy. Rozwiązanie zagadki totalnie mnie zaskoczyło i utwierdziło w przekonaniu, że marna ze mnie śledczyni. Wiecie o czym marzę? O tym, żeby autor zrobił mi tę przyjemność i napisał coś jeszcze o Cyrusie i Evie. Najlepiej szybko i dużo! Uwielbiam thrillery, które potrafią namieszać mi w głowie, tak właśnie jest z tą książką 😀 💙 Dobra dziewczyna, zła dziewczyna 📖 Michael Robotham Świetnie zbudowane postacie, dobre tempo książki, zwroty akcji, intrygi, tajemnice. Autor największy nacisk kładzie na bohaterach, ich psychice, a dopiero później na wydarzeniach, powoduje to niesamowite połączenie z postaciami, przez co książka staje się jeszcze lepsza. Akcja toczy się też tak dynamicznie, że nie warto się rozpraszać nad tą książką, bo będziemy musieli się wracać 😝 Dostajemy kilka historii w jednej, przez co nie będziecie chcieli się odrywać od tej pozycji. 4.25 ⭐️ I needed a palate cleanser from all the fantasy and romance I’ve been reading and this book has been sitting on my TBR for over a year. It came recommended to me from my mom and dad who had read it for their book club. I was skeptical about it because it’s a thriller and that’s not really a genre I dabble in. I absolutely ate this book up! I couldn’t put it down and stayed up late to finish it! The characters were interesting and well developed. I can’t wait to read book 2! There were unexpected moments and twists. I was actually surprised at the ending of the book which doesn’t happen often at all. 2025 Book 26 - Good Girl Bad Girl by Michael Robotham ⭐⭐⭐ and a half All the way until the last chapter I was quite enjoying this book, but then the very end just dropped me like a lead balloon! I feel traitorous because up until then it was quite good! It lost me for being little implausible, mainly by stretching the main characters job (psychologist) who is assisting a murder investigation, but I couldn't see how he had the freedom to move within the investigation like he did (I know, I know, it's a book, let it go...). There were bits introduced at the start I felt should have been revisited at the end, not crucial storyline points but would have made for a stronger ending. Evie Cormac has no past. The girl was discovered six years ago hiding in a secret room at the back of a house where her captors body rotted away in the room in front of her. She also has a gift - knowing when people are lying. And she's never wrong. Forensic psychologist Cyrus Haven has a past big enough for the two of them - it's part of what makes him so good at his job. So when the body of Jodie Sheehan, champion figure skater turns up at the edge of the water, Cyrus is called in to help investigate the crime, while also becoming involved with Evie's life and finding ways to support her. Cyrus knows he shouldn't let Evie into his life, but he feels compelled to help Evie get the support she's missed out on a child. Thank you, January! I’m delighted to report that 2024 has got off to a flying start, with 16 books read in January, including a couple of chonkers and a very satisfying 13 from my TBR. I traveled to Indonesia, South Korea, Georgia, Nigeria and Brazil with my #24countriesin2024 challenge, crushed a bunch of titles on my Kindle, and met up with some very promising new-to-me authors. The most interesting book I read was Unwell Women, my selection for my #NFPicknMix challenge. I’ve pledged to expand my nonfiction reading this year to embrace a greater variety of subgenres, and this was a brilliant choice. My review will follow next week. The biggest disappointment was The Seven Sisters. I fell for the hype over this series and bought the first 3 books without properly considering if I would like them 🙈 Sadly, Lucinda and I parted company half way through book one. Biggest surprise of the month was the phenomenal debut, Hard by a Great Forest by Georgian author Leo Vardiashvili. Check out my review from yesterday to see how much I loved it. I listened to some incredible audiobooks (swipe to see them) and struggle to pick a favorite. Tom Lake, narrated by Meryl Streep, was like the biggest, warmest hug. But I’m always partial to a book that teaches me about a country’s history and culture, and The Island of Sea Women delivered that in spades. Not usually one to reread books, I made an exception for Olive Kitteridge, in anticipation of Elizabeth Strout’s August release featuring Olive and Lucy Barton. I reconnected with Olive in ways I hadn’t before, which was a lovely experience. From the experience I have with the second part of a series, it doesn't matter if it's a book or film there seems to be a curse hanging above them. That curse is a mix of storylines not being finished & that it's a middle part to the grand finish. With "Good Girl, Bad Blood", it seems a few storylines are continuing from the first book and the main story is done and done, yet it doesn't feel finished like the first book did. I don't know if this is because the MC is showing signs of going a downward spiral or that you are being set up for the grand finale, which would take place in book 3. In other words, don't pick this book up, if you want a done-and-done satisfying story. A book series I've read in the wrong order 🤦♀️ I am loving this thriller/ psychological fiction series. I bought Lying Besides You first, unaware it was technically the third one in the series... however, it did not hinder the reading experience as each book has its own plot, although you learn more about the two main characters through the series. After accidentally reading book three first, I was quick to pick up book one and loved it. And now I've finally got the second book. I'll be sure to read it before the fourth one comes out, hopefully this year!
