MAGNA CARTA The Magna Carta was initially agreed upon because of the dissatisfaction among the feudal barons towards King John's heavy taxation and arbitrary justice. Despite its initial failure to resolve the conflict between the king and the barons, leading to its annulment by Pope Innocent III shortly after its creation, the principles enshrined in the Magna Carta resonated throughout centuries, influencing numerous constitutional documents worldwide, including the United States Constitution. It is celebrated as a symbol of liberty and the rule of law, showing the power of written agreements to assert rights and hold the powerful accountable. #HistoryInPhotos #MagnaCarta #MedievalHistory #OnThisDay #HistoricMoments #KingJohn #EnglishHistory #ConstitutionalLaw #DemocracyRoots #InstaHistory

The collapse of the Great Bronze age civilizations are being taught wrong! The common explanation of how the great bronze age civilizations in Egypt, Mesopotamia and the Mediterranean islands came to be is often simply spelled as: The sea people! These mysterious people just came out of nowhere, screwed everything up and left, leaving these ancient Bronze Age Civilizations in ruins. For more information about the Sea People as well as most bronze age Civilizations I recommend reading some of my older posts, or just google it and read up yourself! Anyhow, yes, these sea people did exist and yes, they did raise some havoc along the Mediterranean Ocean and West Asia, but they are not the sole reason why these civilizations collapsed around the 12th century BC. Insead the Great Bronze age collapse was a perfect storm of events happening for over 200 years. So starting off, when you imagine a collapse you imagine something being one day and the next day it’s gone, but well, this isn’t how it happened, the collapse was more like a slow erosion happening over many many life times. So that’s the first misconception, the second is the importance of the Sea people. Because at the same time, or well over the same 200 years, the area was facing droughts, famines and some great natural disasters. This was due to the earth entering a warmer period that slowly chipped away on the stability of the Bronze Age Kingdoms. As the inhabitants struggled more the kingdoms became more vulnerable from inside and outside disruptions which in turn led to them falling one by one. Which in turn leads to the last misconception, they didn’t fall all at once, looking at it you could say that there was over 100 years between what we consider the fall of Egypt and Babylon for example, that would be like piling the French Revolution and the fall of the Ottoman Empire together as the same “mass collapse”. #history #historybuff #historygram #instahistory #historylovers #historylover #didyouknow #facts #fact #dailyfacts #factsdaily #bookstagram #instabooks #books #learning #teachersofinstagram #explore #explorepage #trending #likeforlike #l4l #likeforlike #ancient #ancienthistory #ancient

Big hair don't care 💇 Swipe for more images ➡ Big hair was a big deal in late eighteenth-century Europe. Marie Antoinette of France led the way with towering hairstyles decorated with flowers, jewels, and on one memorable occasion, miniature ships! ⛵ Despite what many people think, women rarely wore wigs. Instead, their very skilled and very well paid hairdressers worked with the woman's natural hair, using powder, padding and horse hair to create these incredible hair sculptures. These extravagant powdered hairstyles were a major status symbol, requiring hours of work and in-demand hairdressers who could command huge salaries. French hairdressers or 'friseurs' were seen as the best of the best. Queen Charlotte even brought her French hairdresser with her when she moved to England in 1761 to marry George III. Are you even superised these western imperalist are now starving people of Gaza? I mean they did it to my ancestors in Bengal, they did it in Ireland .But do you know about the iranian famine caused by...BRITAIN !!! But as always they say its not true !!typical American Archives actually reported the widespread famine & spread of epidemic disease in Iran, estimates the number of the deceased due to the famine to be about 8-10 million. After the Russian Revolution of 1917, Britain became the main foreign power in Iran and this famine or--more accurately--‘genocide’ was committed by the British. Iran had been one of the main suppliers of food grains to the British forces stationed in the empire’s South Asian colonies. American documents show that the British prevented imports of wheat and other food grains into Iran from Mesopotamia, Asia, and also the USA, and that ships loaded with wheat were not allowed to unload at the port of Bushehr in the Persian Gulf. Great Britain intentionally created genocide conditions to destroy Iran, and to effectively control the country for its own purposes. Major Donohoe describes Iran of that time as a “land of desolation and death”. But this event soon became the subject of a British cover up Britain has a long record of its several attempts to conceal history and rewrite it in their own favour . #persia #genocide #war #history #true #facts #brownhistory #solidarity famine #humanhistory #makehistory #culture #historymatters #hiddenhistory #travel #humanity #instahistory #sad #historical #historyfacts #liberty #poverty #hunger #starvation #explore #imperalism #hidden #historygeek

When feral cats invaded the British Museum, a thread: British Museum, filled to the brim with stolen treasure, not as stolen treasure and very stolen treasure AND cats! Well at least if you would visit it in the mid 20th century, and to be fair, in the 19th century and earlier 20th century the museum actually employed cats to keep track of the mouse-problem. Go on and read about Black Jack, Mike, and Poppet, the British Museum mouse hunters! These museum mouse guards were often picked up from the street by cat loving employees and it became a thing among the people working at the British Museum. Prior to WW2 there were at most ten cats “working” at the museum at the time but during and after WW2 this changed. Which brings us to the main part of the story, because a Cat-astrophic result of the war was an out-of-control cat population of UK:s bigger cities, London included, and these now homeless housecats formed groups to survive life on the street. And as you might know, a lot of cats soon turn into a sh*t tons of cats because well, they get plenty of cute kittens. One of these cat-gangs set up camp in the British museum, and unlike the previously employed cats these gang-cats were dirties, more rude and plain mean. They attacked the human employees, destroyed parts of the museum’s exhibitions and gave birth to kittens in the bookshelves. It became a real problem, both in the matter of visitors and employees not enjoying the mess the cats caused. Ruined invaluable tapestry is one thing but cat poop and pee in every corner became too much. But also in the matter of the cats themselves, they became ill and the museum was more focused on getting rid of them than helping them. This continued for 15 years until the museum personnel changed tactics, moving from trying to get rid of the cats to actually taking care of them. They had them visiting the vet, gave them food and proper beds and litter boxes and finally we started to see a solution. Today you most likely will not meet any cats at the British museum, only stolen artifacts… #history #historybuff #historygram #instahistory #historylovers #historylover #didyouknow #facts #fact #dailyfacts #cats #cat

#REPOST @ashmoleanmuseum with @get__repost__app Coins from Knossos, on the island of Crete, were decorated with a symbol of the city: a labyrinth design which sometimes had a Minotaur at the centre. The design on the reverse of this coin, unlike most literary descriptions, has a single path into the centre. It appears more like a bird’s eye view of a building, and one in which it is impossible to get lost. In Greek myth, the Minotaur was a monster with the head of a bull and the body of a man who was imprisoned in a dark underground labyrinth at Knossos. The Labyrinth was an ingenious maze commissioned by King Minos and designed by the architect Daedalus. In order to escape the maze after killing the Minotaur, the hero Theseus needed a ball of thread, given to him by the princess Ariadne. Or at least that is the most commonly accepted story – digging deeper into the myth reveals a multitude of contradictory versions. Once a bustling marketplace, this historic site was the nucleus of Roman public life, hosting triumphal processions, elections, and public speeches that have shaped the world as we know it today. As I walked among the ruins, I couldn't help but feel the echoes of the past beneath my feet, whispering stories of glory and intrigue. 🌿✨ It's a surreal experience to stand in the same spot where Julius Caesar once walked, where the Vestal Virgins kept the sacred fire burning, and where the fate of the greatest empire was decided.
