With the weather starting to warm up we’re starting our summer prep series!!!!! So here’s a post you can save on bug spray! This one certainly took a little bit of elbow grease to put together 😅... insect repellents are regulated like pesticides (not cosmetic products) which means that only active ingredients need to be disclosed. Some companies are willingly transparent if you contact them asking for an ingredient breakdown, and others not so much. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But much to my surprise the OFF brand was one of the only ones that transparently discloses all ingredients in their products online. And they have a fantastic products that make the top of my list. But please note I am *only* recommending the specific product image you see in these graphics. I do not stand behind all variations from each of these brands. The OFF aerosols all contain butane / isobutane / propane propellants. So make sure you choose the manual spray pumps. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I also want to stress there is no one ‘best’ bug spray. Do I let him quit? I don’t have the answers to those questions but in case you haven’t been told, you are allowed to feel guilty. You are allowed to feel however you feel and recognize it. It’s okay to feel guilty. It’s not okay to stay there. You are doing the best you can. Happy birthday, Little Love! 🫶 We celebrated with family and friends on Sunday. Madelyn really enjoyed herself. I'm so glad she was happy for her party! She could sense that something was happening for awhile...she was a little more sad and clingy because she knew that mama was busy with the food prep, decorating cupcakes and cookies with grandma, and trying to clean. I was thankful that this week wasn't busy at all! We enjoyed two very low-key days at home already this week, and she loved all of the one-on-one playtime again. 🥲🤍 I'm so grateful for each one who came to celebrate with us despite it being super chilly (hello April and all of it's fine weather patterns 😄). We brewed hot coffee and invited people inside to warm up. 🤍 I guess some gusts of wind are still better than rain, though! 🤍 I just still can't believe that we are parents to a ONE YEAR OLD! It feels weird to just post selfies of myself, but I’ve been having a lot of feelings lately that I think should be talked about. I talked a little about this on my stories the other night - but before I had E (and when he was still pretty little), I was a huge makeup person. I did all sorts of creative makeup looks, collected limited edition makeup, consumed hours and hours of content about cosmetics. I have loved makeup for a very long time. But I don’t really have the energy, the time, or the money to continue to collect and experiment with makeup like I used to. During the day, I'm E's caregiver. My energy goes to him. If I do my makeup, it's a couple of products and max 10 minutes. After he goes to bed, I'm cleaning or working or just trying to exist as a human by myself. Some days I feel like I'm losing myself. And then something happens and I'm reminded that the makeup-loving woman still exists inside of me and needs to be let out sometimes. So the other night, instead of cleaning or working, I played with makeup for the first time in a long time. I used products I haven’t used in forever and even a lipstick I’ve never used before. And I loved it. Sometimes, who I was before I became a mother feels like someone I’ll never be again. In April 2020, Kirk got furloughed from his job, like so many other people. I said, “okay, let’s figure this out” and got to work growing my business. Each day I would work about 4 hours straight, then we would walk our neighborhood as a family (since we couldn’t go anywhere else.) We had so many limits on us and yet, THAT is when we our dreams began to soar. So much so that I invested in a $5k mastermind….even though Kirk wasn’t getting paid. Then I built out an online course to help mamas bring simplicity to their homes and started signing more coaching clients. Limits don’t need to stop you. It’s tempting to let them and say “well, what can we do?” You can do A LOT. You are capable of so much more than you realize. What do you want your kids to remember from this time? Who do you want to be through it all? It’s normal to get discouraged and lose steam. Remember WHY you’re willing to keep going. This also applies to when you hit income plateaus, your marketing strategy flops, your client quits. Each level of your business will ask you to recommit. Keep going. Since the miscarriage of our sweet baby girl, the anthem of this season has been one of learning to declare, “and, yet.” 🤍 The grief still weighs heavy on our hearts since God called her home, “and yet,” we‘ve experienced the nearness of God like never before (Psalm 34:18). The questions still loom in our minds as we cry out for clarity and ask the Lord why, “and yet,” we trust in the faithfulness of God who keeps his promises, all the more (Joshua 21:45). The dreams still feel lost and the despair still sets in, “and yet,” we have hope in the good plans of the Lord, beyond what we could ever ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20). As I look at these photos, tears stream down my face, because in this very moment, our sweet girl was still in my belly, just days before the Lord called her home. “And yet,” our hearts are filled with hope as God reminds us of who he is in the midst of our story, writing the pages that we have yet to see (Hebrews 10:23). Over and over, as we grieve through the loss of Grace, as we hold the tension of this hurting, broken world, the constant truth that remains in the midst of our story is the promise of “and, yet,” that continues to draw us back to the Lord. And as we look to Jesus, it is he who cried the greatest “and, yet” of all, as he prayed in the garden, crying out to the Father to remove the cup of suffering, yet took on every ounce of our sin on that cross, because of the great love he had for us. “And he said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for you. Remove this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.” (Mark 14:36). I don’t know the season you are walking through, the heartache, grief or loss of your story, but I’m praying that you receive the sweet invitation declare “any, yet” in the midst of this present suffering or trial. While we hold the weight of all that is broken of this side of heaven, our greatest “and, yet” is the hope of heaven that is to come, may we cling to this everlasting promise all the more (Revelation 21:1-5).
